Chapter 270: Back to the barren land.
Returning to the Barren Land, Su Yen stood in the sky and looked down at the bustling land below.
This was his home, and a swell of pride came from the depth of his soul.
To others, they might still think this was the Barren Land of the old days, but those living in it knew better.
After looking at his land for a couple of seconds, he disappeared from the sky, leaving a gust of wind behind. Find adventures on mvl
In the eastern Barren Land, a couple of hundred miles from the Celestial Heavenly Sect, the thunderous sound of heavy footsteps echoed like the hooves of powerful beasts.
Marching outside the military base were hundreds of thousands of soldiers performing their daily military drills.
The previous military base that only consisted of tents and wooden buildings had long been replaced with bricks.
Tens of meters of wall rose to the sky, surrounding the base. On top of the walls were deadly machines that were impossible to find elsewhere.
Inside the base were sky-high buildings of various heights. There were so many sky-high buildings that it was impossible to count.
At the center of the base was the nine-level pagoda, standing proudly like a powerful totem.
Inside the general's office, Su Ming was busy with a pile of books on his table and didn't detect the sudden appearance of Su Yen sitting calmly before him.
Su Yen crossed one leg over the other and looked at his serious brother with a light smile on his face.
The thought of them coming from the dreadful ancient clans still puzzled him to no end, but he decided not to dwell on it too much.
"What is so important that didn't allow you to raise your head for the past ten minutes?" Su Yen said calmly, picking up a file from the table.
Hmm!
Su Ming's mind raced quickly when he heard another voice inside his office.
A powerful aura erupted from his body as he jumped off from his seat and levitated in the air, taking a battle stance.
However, when he saw the person sitting calmly on the seat, reading the file with a light smile on his face, he relaxed.
"Will you get down and tell me what is so serious that turned you to this?" Su Yen said without raising his head from his reading.
Sighed!
Su Ming looked at his younger brother and felt an urge to give him a beating of his life.
He almost had a heart attack from his sudden appearance. Why couldn't he just enter like any normal human being?
However, when he remembered Su Yen was far from being normal, he shook his head and retracted his aura.
As for beating him, he laughed wryly in his mind. Who would dare beat the Barren Land Emperor?!
Having such thoughts sent a shiver down his spine, and he quickly shook his head.
"Why didn't you tell me you've returned?" He complained.
"Where is the fun?" Su Yen responded with a light chuckle, dropping the file and getting to his feet.
"You're really working hard," he said, looking at his brother.
"What are you saying? I'm not the one working hard. It is you," Su Ming said, looking at his brother as if he were looking at another person.
Since he started exploring the mainland, which was the Baiyun City, he rarely came home. And when he did, he came home with new schematics and ideas on how to make their land a better place.
With him pushing himself hard, how could those that followed him be complacent?
If he were any other leader, the Barren Land wouldn't have developed to one-tenth of what it had become today.
His arrival served as hope and anticipation for new inventions, as he was already addicted to developing many magical things.
Looking at his brother, a prideful smile on his face, Su Yen was still his younger brother after all.
"Why are you smiling?" Su Yen demanded, creasing his brow.
"Why can't I smile?"
"Soothe yourself."
"How is the Celestial Air Force?" He asked, going straight to the point.
"I knew it. You did not come to have a chat with me," Su Ming grumbled and walked out of his office.
"We've managed to create the first prototype, and we're only waiting for your arrival before testing," he added.
"Good. How many of our men would be deployed to the air force?"
"For a start, two hundred thousand."
Walking through the military base, none of the soldiers detected both Su Yen and Su Ming.
It was as if they never existed in the first place. Looking at his elder brother beaming with confidence, Su Yen couldn't help but tease him.
"Congratulations on your breakthrough."
"Thank you… I thought you wouldn't congratulate me."
"Now that you're in the Core Refining stage, it is time for you to get married and expand our bloodline."
Hearing this, Su Ming almost stumbled to the ground, but he managed to hold himself.
"What did you say?" he asked with wide eyes.
"You heard me." Su Yen walked past him, continuing their journey.
"You only have three days to give me the list of women you're interested in. Else, I will bestow them to you myself…" His voice trailed off, and an evil grin flashed on his face.
"I can't imagine the wave it will cause when I release the news that the mighty General of the Celestial Heavenly Army is looking for a wife or wives."
Looking at the departing back of his brother, Su Ming was dazed.
He wanted to speak and tell him he dare not, but he knew better. Since his younger brother could voice it out, he had already made plans about it.
And everything he was planning was not going to be good.
The mere thought of getting married gave him goosebumps. Unknown to him, his back was drenched in cold sweat, and his lower lip was trembling.
"I can't let this devil have his way… I must do something."
Quickly, he sent his consciousness into his Spirit Comms and sent an emergency message to a person.
Inside the sect, Su Lan was busy concocting a pill with beads of sweat all over her face.
Her proficiency in making pills had increased exponentially, and now, she was revered as the Queen of Pills.
After she had a breakthrough in creating Grade-2 pills, her fame spread far and wide.
Even though her fame spread throughout the Barren Land, that didn't deter her from working hard.
And now, she was working hard as usual with her gaze fixed on the cauldron.
She was at the last stage of the pill process when an emergency message echoed in her mind.
With the notification ringing in her mind, she lost concentration, and the fire temperature became uneven.
"Who the hell disturbed me!" She shouted in fury, losing all the manner of an elegant lady.
With the lost in fire temperature, she knew the pill would fail.
Therefore, she didn't continue with the pills as her rage was about to consume her from the inside out.
"That person should pray the news is worth it else…" She gnashed her teeth, seething in rage.
When she opened the message and read it, her expression stiffened for a couple of seconds before a loud, hysterical laugh echoed in the alchemy room.
"MING IS GETTING MARRIED!"
