Chapter 272: Military Advancement - Spirit Battleship and Spirit Submarine.
After the incident in the military base, Su Yen didn't return to the sect.
He appeared at the military base camp in the southern barren land.
Even though the Southern military base was just a branch of the main military base located in the Eastern Barren land, it was massive with over five hundred thousand soldiers.
In a restricted area, Su Yen stood before a massive ship. This was like any other ship seen in the Lotus World.
Though it was still in the construction phase, everyone could see how mighty it would be when completed.
The ship's complement was different from the procedural ship made from wood.
It was completely made from metal and would carry two hundred thousand men upon completion.
As a battleship, its armament was a de-facto part of a ship, even though the guns had yet to be mounted.
Still, the plan was for the battleship to carry a Second Generation Spirit Cannon.
The Second Generation Spirit Cannon would hit its target from one thousand meters away.
Apart from the Second Generation Spirit Cannon, the ship would also carry the Rapid Fire Spirit Guns.
The Rapid Fire Spirit Guns would fire one thousand rounds of bullets in three seconds max. Lastly, it also had the Spirit Wind-Fire Torpedo.
The ship hull would have an intimidating height of five thousand feet.
The deck and bridge would have advanced tech for detecting threats and nullifying them.
With powerful formations and runes inscribed around the mast and the keel of the ship, it would detect sound waves, sea wave frequency, light frequency, and thermal detection abilities.
Standing before Su Yen was a machine of destruction.
Even though all these killing tools had not been added to the battleship, the sheer size and height of the ship were intimidating enough.
Elder Feng had been waiting patiently for Su Yen's comment and was inwardly dying of nervousness.
What happened in the Eastern Barren land Military base had been known by all the Su Clan higher-ups.
Thus, everyone was on edge not to be on the bad side of their sect master.
"Y-our Majesty… How was it?" He asked with a shaky voice, wiping off the bead of sweat from his head.
"Not bad. Not bad. Well done." Su Yen turned and flashed him an encouraging smile. "You're awarded 50 leaves of Spirit Tea."
What!
Elder Feng widened his eyes in shock. He was mentally prepared for the worst, but he didn't expect a reward.
Recovering from his shock, a bright smile appeared on his face and his rapidly beating heart calmed down.
"Thank you, Your Majesty!" He exclaimed.
The men and women behind Elder Feng also breathed a sigh of relief, and bright smiles flashed on their faces.
Their hard work didn't go in vain. With their assessment over, they could finally relax their tensed nerves.
"Take me to the last one," Su Yen commanded.
"Yes, yes," Elder Feng responded with his brightest smile. Quickly, they walked toward the eastern part of their location.
After five minutes of speed walking, with each of their steps covering ten meters, they arrived at the location.
The place was heavily guarded with over a thousand soldiers adorned in Metal Bronze Construct.
A couple of meters from the guards was Su Bolin, the project chief.
"Your Majesty," He greeted with a deep bow.
"Rise. Lead the way," Su Yen commanded.
Without uttering a word, Su Bolin turned and led them into the massive building at the edge of the sea.
From their location, they could see the sea and feel the powerful sea waves.
Inside the massive building, a group of men and women stood by the side and fell to their knees when they saw Su Yen and greeted in unison.
"Your Majesty…"
"Arise."
Without halting in their track, they arrived at the machine laying dormant on the sea shore.
Elder Feng was confused and surprised when he saw the marching.
This was the first item he saw that they were building, and he was flabbergasted.
It looked like a ship but also not like a ship. The massive metal machine didn't have a place where people could stay nor the mast.
What is this? He exclaimed in his heart. 'How would this sail in water?'
'Perhaps it would not be used in water.'
While he was trying to wrap his head around the strangeness of the machine, Su Bolin began to speak. "Your Majesty, as you ordered."
"Have you tested it?" Su Yen asked.
"Not yet, Your Majesty."
"Test it now."
He nodded his head and turned to a group of young men and women.
Without dilly-dallying, the group of young men and women moved with large strides toward the machine.
Quickly, they jumped to the top of the machine. The machine had a length of one thousand meters and a diameter of fifty meters.
While Elder Su Feng was confused by the action of the young men and women, what happened next shocked him to stupor.
The woman in the lead scanned her spirit comms against a small device and a sound came from the machine.
Quickly, two men came from the side to open a passage into the metal beast.
Looking at the hidden passage, Elder Su Feng had his jaw dropped to the ground.
When they all entered the machine, the massive building descended into still silence.
After ten seconds of waiting, the massive metal machine began to move. At first, it was slow without any apparent direction.
But then, its massive height began to descend into the water while moving backward.
Under the astonished looks of everyone, the machine disappeared from their sight deep into the sea.
"What just happened?!" Elder Feng blurted out, reeling in shock.
This was way beyond what he could comprehend and needed to find answers before he went mad.
Just as he was trying to get answers from Su Bolin, a female voice echoed inside the room.
"Commander, we're 1 km away, reaching a depth of 200 feet. Do you copy?"
"Copy, captain. How are you doing?"
"All systems are green, we're good to go. Copy."
Hearing this, Su Bolin looked at Su Yen, waiting for his order. Su Yen did not respond immediately as he focused his eyes in the direction of the machine.
Even though they were 1 km away from him, to him, it was as if they were still standing before him.
After confirming everything was as it was reported, he looked at Su Bolin and responded.
"Call them back."
"Back to base. I repeat, back to base."
"Copy, commander."
With that, everywhere descended into silence, and after thirty seconds, the massive metal beast began to ascend from the depth of the sea.
However, instead of coming out fully, it stopped when the compartment into the machine was way above water.
Shortly, all the men and women came out, taking their previous standing. On their faces was pride and confidence.
Today would go in the annals of history as the men and women to test such a deadly machine.
As for Elder Feng, he was lost. He was too shocked to speak for a couple of seconds.
Finally, he managed to wake up from his stupor and asked with a trembling voice.
"Please, tell me what I just witnessed, or am I seeing things?"
Su Bolin looked at Su Yen before telling him with a prideful smile.
"It is called… Spirit Submarine."
