Elaina looked at the time and was ready to leave. She had to go back and pack.

“It’s getting late. I won’t disturb you.” After that, she stood up.

Jalen also stood up and came to her side. “Grandpa asked me to show you around the house. If

you just leave like this, I’ll be scolded by him. You don’t want this to happen, do you?”

Alisha’s face changed slightly. She only said with a smile, “Jalen is right. Just go with him, Ms.

Gainsford. I’m okay with it.”

Elaina was at a loss for words. She looked at Jalen again, who looked like a winner now.

“Okay,” she smiled and nodded. Although she just pretended to be friendly, Jalen did not mind.

They walked to the back garden. Alisha watched as they left and gritted her teeth.

In the back garden, Elaina followed Jalen silently. She only wanted to finish this and go home

quickly.

She had been to the house many times and did not need Jalen to show her around. She knew Nitzan’s purpose. He just wanted to give her and Jalen a chance to stay with each other.

She could do nothing about it and did not know why Nitzan was so persistent. She and Jalen

weren’t a suitable match at all.

Lost in thought, she did not notice that Jalen had stopped in front of her and hit him directly the

“Ouch!” she shouted softly and looked up, finding that Jalen was looking at her.

“Are you throwing yourself into my arms, Dr. Gainsford?” Jalen smirked.

Elaina did not reply but rolled her eyes at him, thinking that he could understand what she meant.

Sure enough, Jalen’s face changed, and the smile on his lips completely disappeared. “Why would you go to the free clinic in the countryside?”

At the thought that she would be away for a few months, Jalen found it hard to accept.

“Why did you ask me, Mr. Halton? I’ve said that it’s the arrangement of the hospital.” She didn’t want to explain to him, turned around, and was about to leave.

However, Jalen grabbed her wrist and stopped her from moving. “But you can refuse!”

He did not know much about the rural free clinics, but he knew that as long as Elaina refused, the hospital would not force her to go.

“Why should I refuse?” Elaina asked, feeling that Jalen was being ridiculous.

His fiancée was in the living room, but now he was asking her about something unimportant like this. She thought he was indeed a terrible man.

“Are you trying to avoid me?” Jalen stared at her as if he wanted to see through her.

Elaina seemed to be irritated, and her voice suddenly rose. “Avoid? Why would I avoid you? That’s

ridiculous!”

“Because I’m going to marry Alisha. You can’t accept it and want to leave, right?” Jalen’s eyes fell

on her. He was eager to hear a positive answer.

Elaina would not say what he wanted to hear. Instead, she shook off his hand and said angrily, “Are

you crazy? What does it have to do with me who you’re going to marry? Jalen, you are so

conceited.”
