“An hour ago, Marie boarded a plane. And I believe she is out of the country now,” he said slowly as he noticed that Elaina was getting angry.

He did not want to go against Elaina’s wishes, but then again, he had to protect Marie.

Elaina, furious with Jalen, started to launch an attack on him right away. “Jalen! You are courting death!”

Noticing that, Jalen dodged it quickly.

“Calm down…”

Before Jalen could finish his words, Elaina had already launched another attack again. Every attack on him

was full-on and ruthless.

Elaina thought, calm down?

Just like that, the two got into a fight in the small living room, which lasted many rounds.

Of course, most of the time, Jalen was dodging Elaina and did not actually attack her.

Elaina was silent. She had not had the time to investigate that matter yet.

“When you were having lunch with Jenica at noon today, someone drugged your drink when you were off to the bathroom,” Jalen said.

Elaina raised her eyebrows but didn’t seem surprised. This was how she thought it was as well.

I didn’t expect Ms. Dunston to be so well-prepared. Not only did she have people tie me up, but she also drugged me like that,” she sneered, thinking that she had underestimated Marie.

But Jalen shook his head and said to her, “It wasn’t Marie who drugged you.”

“It was not her?” Elaina’s expression changed.

“It’s the Lory family. Do you still remember Marcus, the one who hit on you last time at the banquet?” Jalen said, trying to turn Elaina’s attention away from Marie. That way, he might be able to suffer less from it.

Elaina was surprised. But soon, she found it made sense.

She never thought that Marcus was a good person. It was just that she did not expect Marcus would be so

bold as to drug her!

What a coincidence that Marie and Marcus were trying to target Elaina almost simultaneously. And thanks to

Marcus, Marie ended up where she was now.

Thanks to Marcus, who failed to take away Elaina then, Marie was involved in the whole thing.

And also thanks to Marcus, who “helped” drug Elaina, Marie’s people could then catch Elaina.

“I can help you deal with the Lory family,” noticing that Elaina was deep in thought, Jalen spoke. “You know

the Lory family is way stronger than the Dunston family, right?”

not know what Jalen was planning? She would not let him have his way.

Jalen smiled bitterly, but there was nothing he could do. Since Marie had done something wrong and he needed to protect Marie, it was only understandable that Elaina would dislike Marie and him altogether.

He wanted to say something more, but Elaina stared at him and said, “Marie has run away. This is you to blame.”
