Chapter 622: Compensation

Chapter 622: Compensation

Chapter 622: Compensation

Noah chuckled when he saw Ivy pout and demand a car from him.

Good!! The girls are not harmed and traumatized from the incident, he thought. But the next instant, he realized how absurd he sounded. The girls would never have landed themselves in this situation if they were not sure of their abilities. Why would they even get traumatized?

"Don't chuckle? How dare you wreck my car?" Ivy glared at him and Noah's chuckle turned into a peal of full boom laughter. She was the only one other than Aria who has been able to stand before him without getting flustered or scared and he admired her for her boldness and confidence. And now, she had even started to demand from him.

"You..." Ivy was now seething and her rage was at its peak. "Aria, stop your boyfriend before I lose my mind. I do not know what I will do then." She warned and Maggie who was sitting beside her looked at her as though she had gone crazy.

"What will do, Ivy?" She was even curious to find out and the words escaped her lips before she could even stop herself.

"Are you taunting me, Maggie?" Ivy's glare was now directed to her and Maggie gave her a helpless look.

"Hey, I am just an innocent bystander. Don't blame me for your car being wrecked. I did not ask Mr. Carter to ruin your car." Maggie's words erupted another round of laughter from Noah and this time, even Aria joined him.

"Maggie, I will take care of you later and you, Noah. Just you wait how I will seek revenge. I will not allow you to marry Aria until you appease me."

Noah's laughter died on hearing her and he let out a cough in embarrassment. Although Ivy was only threatening him and she did not mean them, he still stopped when he heard her speak about his marriage with Aria.

"In that case, if I manage to appease you, will you allow me to marry your sister?"

"Of course. After all, she needs to marry someone and who could be better for her than you?" Ivy said in such a serious tone that Noah wondered if she was praising him in real or was being just perfunctory.

Now, it was Aria's turn to be speechless and her fury erupted like a volcano. "What do you mean that he can marry me if he appeases you? Does my acceptance not count here?"

"Do you not want to marry Noah then?" Ivy leaned towards Aria and lowered her voice as though she was trying to make her conversation secretive. Yet, she was loud enough that Noah heard her words clearly and he gazed at Aria, glaring at her like an innocent kid, waiting for her to give an answer that would satisfy him.

"Why are you in a misconception that I will marry him?"

Aria's remark flattened Noah's all hopes and he almost pressed on the brake hard in shock.

'Did she not want to marry me? Then, why did she become my girlfriend?' All sorts of unimaginable thoughts ran wild in his mind and Ivy saw the distressed look on his face and pitied him for a moment.

Yet, the next instant she composed herself for she knew that her sister was only teasing him and none of her words held any value.

"I will not marry him until I get a proposal from him."

Noah's gaze that had darkened a moment ago instantly lit up and he beamed his happiness. It was as though spring was here and everything around him was filled with warmth and bliss.

"What a bummer!" Ivy leaned back on her seat and let out a sneer. "I was waiting for a huge couple fight. Who knew it would end up this way?"

Laughter filled the car and the tense mood that had been around them since the night had started settled down slowly.

Noah was glad that all the ladies were safe and out of danger. But he could still not stop cursing herself whenever he saw the blood on Aria's face. Though the wound was small, it still pained him to see her this way.

"I am really sorry, Aria. I did not know that you were in the car and I ....."

"Oh, Romeo." Ivy interrupted him again. "That is why I am asking you to compensate you with a car. Not only did you wreck it, you even hurt my sister. We need some serious compensation to forget about this matter."

"Sure." Noah decided to speak to Aria later while he watched her clean her wounds using the medical kit in the car.

"But what compensation do you need?"

"That, my dear not brother-in-law until I give you my permission, is for you to decide. Use your smart brain. I am sure you can come up with something that can appease us all."

Noah thought for a moment while he continued driving on the deserted road, making sure to keep an eye on the rearview mirror. There was still no sight of his men. But he was sure they were safe. Otherwise, he would have received information about them right away.

He then seriously started to consider the compensation Ivy was talking about and an idea popped up in his mind. "Ivy, how about a niece or a nephew. Will that appease you?"

"Definitely yes."

"Definitely no."

Two answers fell on Noah's ears and he gave Aria a mysterious look.

While Ivy looked like she was ready to push Aria and Noah into a room and wait outside until they actually made a baby, Aria looked as though she was about to strangle the man for even thinking about having kids. Though she was not averse to the idea of kids, she still needed time, at least until she dealt with Jared. She did not wish to put her child in danger before they were even born.

"Fine, fine. I was just kidding." Noah surrendered when he saw Aria glaring at him and sending him a silent warning. He understood her concerns and obliged them immediately. Also, he clearly apprehended that if he did not stop now, he would sleeping in the guest room or the study tonight.

"By the way, are you guys alright? Maggie?" He directed his attention to the woman who had turned silent all of a sudden. Though he was not that familiar with her, he still cared about her for she was someone Joshua considered as family. And unknowingly, an emotional bond had formed between them since the day she had started living in his mansion.

"I am worried now, Noah. I do not know what that psychopath will do now." She stated her troubles and the bright atmosphere in the car dimmed immediately.

"He must be pissed off right now and since I escaped from his clutches again, I am sure he must be filled with vengeance." Maggie let out a sigh and wriggled her fingers in worry.

"Definitely. Jared planned his capture so that he could capture you and now that you have escaped from him, he will start to retaliate. We need to be prepared." Noah's frown deepened and his gaze darkened, fury brewing in his eyes at the possible danger everyone would be in once Jared took action.
