Chapter 1097

Marina hopped out of the car and walked towards Estelle, inviting her enthusiastically, “There’s a BBQ buffet over there, let’s go grill some!”

“Sure!” Estelle agreed readily.

It was only then that Jonathan released her hand, telling her softly, “Go have fun, I’ll come get you later.”

Estelle nodded slightly without looking at him, and turned to walk away with Marina.

After Estelle had left, Charlie sauntered over and teased, “Things are going pretty well, huh?”

Jonathan pulled out a cigarette and lit it. The smoke shrouded his handsome features in a haze. He chuckled, “Why didn’t you bring Emily along?”

The mention of Emily seemed to darken Charlie’s expression. He gave Jonathan a cold stare, “Do we really need to hurt each other like this?”

Jonathan smirked, “Weren’t you the one who started it?”

Charlie sighed, T’m not chasing after Emily. Our situations aren’t the same.”

“If you’re not after her, then why’d you go to the hospital?” Jonathan looked at him, clearly not buying his words.

When he had called Charlie yesterday, Charlie had mentioned he just came from the hospital. He instantly guessed that Charlie had visited Emily’s mother.

Charlie frowned, “Maybe I’m just not able to let go. She made a mistake and ran away, and now she comes back acting like nothing happened? Who in the world gets such a free pass!”

“I advise you to treat Emily better.” Jonathan raised an eyebrow, “Trust me, it’s a sincere suggestion.”

“Because Emily is Estelle’s friend and you’re afraid Estelle will give you trouble?” Charlie sneered.

Jonathan arched an eyebrow and exhaled a puff of smoke, “No matter how you see it, you’d better remember my words. It’s for your own good.”

Charlie gave a nonchalant smile and said nothing in return.

Carson ran over, “Jonah, Charlie, what are you guys chatting about? Let’s have a drink.”

Charlie draped an arm around Jonathan’s shoulder. “Let’s not talk about women anymore. Let’s go drink!”

On the other side, Estelle and Marina were having a BBQ. Marina, though from a wealthy family, was not at all dainty. She enjoyed beer and BBQ, and could party harder than anyone.

Marina sprinkled a generous amount of chili powder on a steak, asking Estelle, “Have you ever tried this? The spicier, the better. It’s awesome!”

Estelle remembered the first time she saw Marina at her engagement banquet with Carson. She was in a white dress, sweetly holding Carson’s arm. When Carson put the engagement ring on her finger, she gently lowered her head with an elegant and beautiful demeanor.

But seeing her grilling now, Estelle thought she could be a great actress.

At that moment, a couple walked by. The girl was snuggling up to the guy, pouting, “I don’t want BBQ. It’ll make me smell like smoke, it’s unbearable!”

The guy laughed, “I think the smell of BBQ is quite pleasant.”

Upon hearing the guy’s voice, Marina immediately turned around. Her expression hardened as she spotted the couple. It seemed like she suddenly realized something and subconsciously wiped her mouth with her sleeve to clean off the grease and sauce.

After she had finished, she suddenly snapped back to reality. What was she doing?
