The man also noticed Marina and squinted his eyes slightly, asking in displeasure, “What are you doing here as well?

Marina scoffed, “If you guys can be here, why can’t I?”

The man laughed, “Of course, you can!”

The woman next to him tightly grabbed his hand, frowning and saying, “Freddy, this is Marina, right?”

Freddy chuckled, “Yeah.”

The woman looked at Marina and playfully smiled at him, “You lied to me before, saying Marina wasn’t pretty, couldn’t dress well, was boring, and acted like a country bumpkin. But I think Marina is actually quite attractive!”

Freddy laughed coldly, “Attractive? I still think she’s just as emotionless and boring as before!”

As they both belittled Marina, her expression became stem, “Both of you, get lost!”

Freddy was taken aback, then frowned and said, “What did you say?”

“I said both of you are disgusting and should disappear right now, or you’ll regret it!” Marina snapped seriously.

Marina had always been compliant with Freddy in the past, never rejecting him. Her outburst surprised and angered him. He pointed at Marina and said, “You deserved to be dumped by me. Just you wait!”

Marina scoffed, “I’ll say it one more time, get lost!”

Frustrated, Freddy reached for a beer bottle nearby but suddenly felt a pain on his hand. He was startled and quickly retreated

“What happened?” His girlfriend asked anxiously.

Estelle held a pair of barbecue tongs in her hand and said coldly, “Get lost, or next time I’ll burn your face!”

Freddy’s hand had been burnt red by Estelle’s tongs and it stung. He looked at Estelle, her eyes were frosty and she seemed no pushover. He suppressed his anger for the moment and glared at Marina before leaving with his girlfriend.

After they left, Marina sat down on the grass, looking dejected.

Estelle poured her a cup of beer. Marina grabbed it and finished it in a few gulps.

She put down the cup and saw Estelle concentrating on grilling. She laughed, “Why don’t you ask me what happened between me and Freddy?”

“You used to be together and then you broke up, right?” Estelle said casually while grilling.

Marina couldn’t help but laugh, “Yes, exactly!”

She poured herself another drink and finished it. Then, she slowly said, “After I graduated from college, my mom tried to keep me in J City by arranging a blind date for me.”

“The one I went on a blind date with was Freddy. It was love at first sight for me.”

Marina sighed, “I don’t know what was going on with me at that time. I really liked him and always stuck around him.

“He said he liked gentle girls, so I pretended to be gentle and sweet in front of him.”

Estelle chuckled, “I see!”

“What?” Marina turned to ask.
