Chapter 1295

Today was the small celebration dinner for the successful collaboration between the James Group and Frank. The bigwigs from Frank all showed up, paying their respects to Charlie.

Charlie was kept busy, accepting toasts from everyone. In no time, he’d downed four or five drinks.

While Charlie was chatting with a woman named Tia, Colin took the opportunity to offer a toast to Emily. “Manuel told me that our cooperation plan was all thanks to you, Ms. Sullivan,” he said. “Her contributions were crucial to our speedy agreement. Here’s to that, drink at your own pace”

Emily raised her glass and took a small sip, the drink burning its way down into her stomach.

“Ms. Sullivan, are you new to the James Group? So young and so capable, Mr. James has a sharp eye!”

Colin showered Emily with praises, making no attempt to hide his interest in her.

Charlie watched Emily from the side, noticing her glass was quickly emptying, but he didn’t stop her.

After three rounds of drinks, Colin was already tipsy. He poured Charlie another drink, saying. “Mr. James, let’s have a few more drinks. I’ve booked a private room at the 9th Mansion, you must come”

Frank knew that Charlie loved to party, so he booked the most luxurious suite at the 9th Mansion.

Charlie responded with a smile, “Sure!”

With Charlie’s agreement, Colin was even happier, signaling to Tia to keep pouring drinks for Charlie.

Emily was sitting beside Charlie, watching Tia constantly refilling his glass. She was conflicted about whether she should step in and help him.

But seeing how jovial he was with Tia, she decided it was best not to interfere

Emily thought, perhaps a gentle and charming woman like Tia could help Charlie feel better

Meanwhile, Emily could tell that Frank’s team wanted Charlie to give up another two percent of the profits on the existing contract.

That’s why they were trying so hard.

When the dinner was over and everyone was about to head to the 9th Mansion, Emily walked beside Charlie and whispered, “Can I go home first if there’s nothing else?”

From Colin’s tone, she knew that going to the 9th Mansion was a guys’ thing

Plus, Colin was intentionally getting close to her, making her feel sick from all the alcohol. She didn’t want to spend any more time with him.

Charlie looked at her indifferently, “Did Ms. Simmons call you?”

Emily shook her head, “No.”

“So you’re just going to leave me alone?” Charlie said flatly.

Emily whispered, biting her lip, Tm sorry. I didn’t think things through.”

Inside the car, Charlie reclined in his seat, eyes shut. He seemed quite intoxicated.

From her bag. Emily handed Charlie something. “This might help with your dizziness,

Charlie, peering at the item in her hand, asked, “What is this?”

“It’s yogurt candy. I got it for Kya,” she explained.

Charlie popped it into his mouth. The tangy-sweet flavor seemed to lift his spints

“Can I have another?” he asked.

Without hesitation, Emily handed him another piece from her bag.

Charlie put the candy in his mouth, leaned his head back, closed his eyes, and suddenly said, “Emily!”

“Hmm?” Emily turned to look at him.

But Charlie didn’t say anything else, seeming to have fallen asleep

Emily didn’t ask why he called her, instead turning to look at the neon lights outside the car window,
