Chapter 1302

Both of them fell silent, lost in their own thoughts.

The room was dim but cozy. Emily had calmed down, tightly held in Charlie’s embrace. Her mind was clearer now, but she was getting restless.

She tried to push his arms away again and whispered, “It’s late, you should go.”

“You’re kicking me out again?” Charlie looked down at her “Last time you did that, I was so pissed off that I couldn’t sleep all night.”

“I didn’t.” Emily’s words trailed off, recalling the awkwardness of that night.

“After dropping off Ms. Simmons, my driver went home. I don’t have a car. Are you expecting me to walk back? Charlie complained

Emily closed her eyes for a moment, then looked down and said, “You can sleep in the quest room”

“No, I’ll sleep in the master bedroom with Kya. You go to the quest room, Chaillé ordered without any room for negotiation

Emily glared at him

“Done crying?” Charlie asked, his eyes deep and a smile playing on his lips.

Feeling somewhat embarrassed, Emily said, “I don’t really care what people say.”

She cared only about what he said.

“Don’t worry,” Charlie said in a soft and soothing voice. “As long as I’m around, nobody can bully you

Emily looked at him, taken aback.

Their eyes locked. Charlie gazed at her affectionately, gently stroking the tear stains on her face and her moist cheeks. His hand lingered on her lips, and then he slowly leaned in.

Emily’s heart pounded like a drum. As he kissed her, she instinctively turned her head.

His lips brushed against her lower jaw, his warmth pulsating on her arteries as though vibrating her heart and spreading through her veins.

Frozen, Emily could feel his heavy breath. She tensed up and whispered, “Charlie, are you in need of a woman?”

Charlie struggled to remain calm, though his voice was filled with restraint. “Mmm.

Emily sounded nervous. “I’ll help you find a cure.”

“A cure for what?” Charlie asked, slightly taken aback.

Emily kept silent, her eyes flickering.

Recalling his confession about not being able to be with a woman, Charlie’s face darkened. All his gentleness was gone. He held her hand like he wanted to crush her windpipe.

With a perverse thought stirring in his mind, Charlie tilted his head, looking at her with a smile, and asked, “How do you plan to cure me?”

Emily looked back at him and said, “I need your cooperation.”

“Fine, I’ll cooperate. How do we go about it?” Charlie’s voice was getting softer.

Emily suggested, “You should see a doctor.”

“I don’t want to see a doctor. You said it was a hidden illness. If people find out, how can I live in J City?”

Emily frowned. “Then what should we do?”

“That’s your question to answer. Didn’t you say you’d help me find a cure?” Charlie shot her a playful look.

Emily pondered, “I could buy some medical books.”

Charlie scoffed. “So, just by reading a few books, you can cure diseases? What’s the point of doctors going to medical school, then?”

Emily fell silent.

“There’s another way.” Charlie leaned in closer and whispered.

Emily tensed up, not daring to move her eyes. “What?”

“You know, I like women, and you’re a woman. You can help me with this, Charlie said, his lips almost grazing Emily’s earlobe

Emily’s face turned red with embarrassment. She instantly rejected his proposal, saying, “No way!”

Charlie gave her a sideways glance and asked, “Was your promise to repay me just empty words?”

“I can do anything else, but not this!”
