Chapter 1401

Yvonne was heartbroken, as no matter how much she put in, Jonathan didn’t bat an eyelid.

Clearly, he was the type of guy who could intensely love one person and be blind to everyone else.

Why was Estelle so lucky?

Yvonne just couldn’t stomach this!

Mae bandaged Yvonne’s hand and helped her up from the ground.

Yvonne’s face was as white as a sheet from losing too much blood, and she felt dizzy as she stood up, so she whispered, “Can you help me to the bed?”

Seeing Yvonne’s tears and the blood she’d lost, Mae felt her heart soften. She helped Yvonne towards the bedroom.

Yvonne, now in bed, saw black spots, and tears started to fall again as she closed her eyes.

Yvonne was a regular at the Lamont family house, always bringing food or gifts for the servants, which was why Mae had a soft spot for her.

Yvonne told herself to stop overthinking and get some rest.

Instead of using Jonathan’s duvet, Mae got a thin blanket from downstairs and covered Yvonne with it.

With her eyes closed and tears falling, Yvonne pulled the blanket over her face to hide her embarrassment.

Mae went to clean up the living room.

The carpet was stained with blood, and a smell of iron in the air, so Mae opened the windows and replaced the carpet.

Estelle drove up to the Lamont family house. As soon as Henson saw the car in the driveway, he said happily, “Jonathan’s home!”

Estelle didn’t want to leave the car, but Henson dragged her out.

When they entered the house, Mae was in the laundry room washing Yvonne’s bloodstained clothes, and the only other person around was the maid, Ms. Simmons

“Where’s Jonathan?” Henson asked.

Ms. Simmons greeted Estelle and said with a smile, “Jonathan’s upstairs.”

Henson, grabbing Estelle’s hand, headed upstairs and said conspiratorially, “Let’s give Jonathan a scare

“Do you really think you can scare him?” Estelle laughed.

“Why, we have you, don’t we?” Henson joked back, “If we can’t scare him, we’ll surprise him.”

They headed up to the third floor. The bedroom door was ajar, and they tiptoed in. The living room was empty, so Henson pulled Estelle towards the bedroom.

The newly replaced wool carpet was handmade and soft under their feet, muffling their steps.

One after the other, they entered the bedroom.

There was someone on the bed, covered from head to toe. Henson motioned Estelle to be quiet, and he tiptoed forward.

Estelle leaned against the door frame, watching Henson with amusement, waiting for him to get scolded by Jonathan.

But with Estelle there, Henson wasn’t scared. He suddenly pulled back the blanket on the bed.

“Jonathan, wake up!”

Before Henson could finish his sentence, he saw who was in bed, and his face paled. He tried to cover it up, but Estelle had already walked over. Yvonne’s blood-stained clothes had been taken to be washed by Mae, so she was only wearing a slip.

She woke up groggily and looked at Henson through sleep-filled eyes.

Yvonne’s hair was messy, her clothes disheveled, her eyes swollen, and she looked so weak that it would pull at anyone’s heartstrings Estelle’s face changed immediately. She stood there, staring at Yvonne on the bed.
