Yvonne happily said, “Great, it’s settled then!”

“Mhm!”

After hanging up the phone, Yvonne opened Whatsapp and sent a message to the group: “Confirmed, Estelle will be joining us on Saturday, y’all excited?”

Several people chimed in, except for one.

Josiah: “Come on, we’re all friends! Why do we need a special invitation for her?”

Yvonne: “Josiah, it’s different! Estelle had other plans at first, but she rescheduled to come over.”

Josiah clearly didn’t believe her and coldly replied, “Really? For a moment, I thought someone was just playing hard to get!”

Yvonne: “Josiah, take back that message, please!”

A minute later, Josiah took back the message he just sent.

Soon, Jonathan sent a message to the group chat: “I am not available on Saturday, so I won’t be going!”

Yvonne quickly replied: “I invited her just for you, why you gotta be mad at me?”

Jonathan: “It has nothing to do with you!”

Charlie looked at his phone, and privately messaged Jonathan: “Suddenly, I’m not hoping for you and Estelle to get back together. That way, I get some daily drama in the chat.”

Jonathan sent him two words: “Screw you!”

Charlie didn’t take offense: “I heard you played basketball with Estelle last Saturday. Why is it so bad between you two all of a sudden? Are you really with Hattie now? Did you make up your mind?”

Jonathan didn’t reply.

Saturday morning, when Estelle arrived at the Lamont family’s place, a car just drove out of the villa without stopping, turned a corner, and sped away like lightning.

Estelle saw Jonathan in the driver’s seat, and he must have seen her too!

Her face emotionless, she slowly walked towards the villa, with a bitter taste in her heart, he didn’t even want to see her now!

At noon, Charlie called Estelle, “Is Emily at home? Call her and tell her to join in the fun. I’ll pick you - both up at the Royal Mansion in 10 minutes.”

Estelle smiled gently, “Thanks, Charlie.”

“You’re welcome!”

Estelle had lunch at Emily’s place and told her about Charlie’s invitation to go to the gathering.

Emily hesitated and said, “But I don’t know anyone at the gathering!”

“You know me and Charlie!” Estelle smiled.

Emily, always up for a good time, quickly agreed and went back to her room to change. Soon, she opened the door and asked, “Estelle, what should I wear for this kind of gathering?”

Estelle turned back, “Whatever! Just be comfortable.”

“Okay!”

Emily came out wearing a black and white checked shirt and denim overalls, looking youthful and energetic.

Charlie soon arrived downstairs, and the two went down together.

With his arm resting on the car window, Charlie saw Emily and chuckled, “I feel like I’m taking two daughters to an after–school activity.”

Emily lowered her head to look at her outfit embarrassingly, “Is it too childish?”

Estelle pulled her into the car, “Don’t listen to him!”

Charlie smiled, “No, you both look great. I’m just envious of your youth.”

Emily sincerely comforted him, “You’re only seven years older than Estelle and me. You’re not that old.”

Charlie had never really cared much about his age, but at that moment, it felt like a sucker punch!

“Ladies, buckle up! Big bro’s taking you out to play!” Charlie flashed a charming smile and expertly maneuvered the steering wheel, speeding away.
