Josiah obediently plopped down, his big eyes sparkling as he watched Amiee.

She felt flustered under his gaze, her brows furrowed even more. After a while, she asked, “Are we… really going to date?”

“Absolutely!” Josiah nodded eagerly.

Amiee loked out at the deep night outside the window, then spoke slowly, “Just to be clear, I’m a pretty boring person. Dating me will be different from dating other girls. Are you sure about this?”

She had never dated before, but she had seen others do it–like going to the movies together, shopping, or doing romantic stuff.

She had no interest in any of these. Her only interests were making money and gaming!

At first, being with her might be bearable, but she wasn’t sure if Josiah could handle her in the long run.

I’m sure!” Josiah’s eyes gleamed as he reached out to take her hand, grinning. “As long as we’re together even if you don’t speak a word all day, I won’t get bored!”

Amiee pulled her hand away, “I have something else to say!”

“Go ahead!”

“Dating for real is different from pretending. We have to be loyal to each other. You can’t flirt with others while you’re with me. Can you do that?”

Josiah’s smile faded, and he looked at her seriously. “Isn’t that a basic rule for couples? Why wouldn’t I be able to do that?”

Amiee lowered her gaze, not saying a word.

Josiah seemed to get the hint, frowning. “What do you mean? You want to keep seeing Hushhush while you’re with me?”

“No way!” Amiee shook her head. “I don’t like Hushhush, I’ve told you that many times!”

“Hmm,” Josiah grunted. Then why were you hugging him?”

“When did I do that?” Amiee asked.

“On New Year’s Eve. He came to see you in the middle of the night I saw it with my own eyes!” Josiah said, clearly upset.

Amiee recalled the incident. That was just a goodbye hug!”

“What do you mean?”

“He was leaving J City. He asked me to go with him, but I refused. Then he asked for a hug as a farewell, Amiee explained.

Josiah’s face was full of displeasure “So he just gets a hug whenever he wants? And you would let him kiss you under the pretense of saying goodbye?”

Amiee was speechless. “Josiah, stop making a scene!”

“Who’s making a scene?” Josiah muttered, looking down. “You have no idea how much that hug hurt me.”

A hint of warmth passed through Amiee’s eyes.

Josiah noticed her subtle shyness, which made his heart pound. He couldn’t help but lean closer to Amiee, whispering, “Amiee, do you like me?”

Amiee looked at his beautiful eyes, so close to her. After a moment, she said softly. “Since I’ve agreed to be with you, I will try to like

you

Josiah felt a pang of disappointment. Trying to like meant she didn’t like him yet.

He couldn’t accept this. “Why did you do that on New Year’s Eve?”

Amier averted her gaze, her voice cold, “No reason. Just a spur of the moment.”

Josiah moved even closer, his eyes filled with emotion. He whispered, “Do you want to act on impulse now? I can be better than that night!”

Amiee glanced at the time and said calmly. “It’s late. You should go home, or Mrs. James will call me”

Josiah grumbled, “I’m not a kid.”

“Go home!” Amiee’s voice was soft, but firm.

Josiah gave her a resentful look, unwilling to leave. “If I can’t stay, at least let me have a kiss!”
