Chapter 819

Xavier stood in front of the toilet, his back to her, his shirt slightly lifted, revealing a sturdy waistline.

Norah quickly turned around, a bit angry and embarrassed, “Why didn’t you lock the door?”

The man didn’t respond to her.

No customers came upstairs, and it was usually just him and Zachary who used the bathroom. They weren’t women, why bother locking the door?

Norah didn’t know what to do, so she said, “I’ll wait for you outside,” and then hurriedly ran out, closing the door behind her.

Xavier was startled by the sound of the door closing. He slowly pulled up his pants, washed his hands, and then left the bathroom. There was only a couch in the living room, scattered with playing cards and alcohol bottles. The room looked messy.

This was Norah’s first time upstairs, and she happened to walk in on Xavier relieving himself. She felt extremely awkward.

Xavier seemed calm, taking a cigarette from the pack and lighting it up before asking, “What do you need?”

Norah looked at him, trying her best to forget the awkward encounter, and said a bit angrily, “Are you the one pushing me away?”

“Yes,” Xavier replied, “Damian will settle your full salary for this month. You don’t need to come in tomorrow!”

Norah stared at him, “What did I do wrong, why are you firing me?”

“You didn’t do anything wrong, you just don’t fit in here,” Xavier said, his eyebrows relaxing, “Like just now, you’re a girl among a bunch of guys, and it’s inconvenient.”

He’d wanted to say this for a while, but she seemed so happy working in the store that he never got around to it until now.

“Just now was an accident,” Norah sat down across from him, insisting, “I don’t want the salary, but I’m not leaving!”

Xavier frowned at her, his eyes carrying a hint of coldness, “Are you forcing me to say something harsh?”

His already cold demeanor seemed even colder now, intimidating.

Norah’s eyes reddened, she choked out, “What else could you say that would be worse? I worked hard, and now I’m being fired for no reason. Isn’t this humiliating enough?”

Xavier felt a bit annoyed. He knew she was a pampered rich girl who couldn’t take any criticism. His tone was indeed a bit harsh just now.

He took a deep puff from his cigarette, trying to soften his voice, “I’m doing this for your own good!”

“I’ll quit when I don’t want to do it anymore,” Norah, tears spinning in her eyes, “But I can’t be kicked out!”

Xavier chuckled, this lady’s pride and stubbornness really gave him a headache!

Norah didn’t understand what his expression meant, she slowly stood up, lowering her head and said, “I have to go back to work.”

After saying that, she turned around and walked out. After two steps, she turned back and emphasized, “I’ll be back tomorrow, and the day after!”

Xavier turned his head and said, “I’ll give you the restaurant then!”

Norah taunted, “I don’t like being a boss, I prefer being a waitress!”

Xavier commented, “You’ve got spirit!”

Norah couldn’t help but laugh, her eyes still filled with tears, her laughter was like the moon emerging from the clouds, breathtaking.

After Norah left, Xavier felt a bit troubled. His intuition told him that Norah shouldn’t stay here anymore. But she wouldn’t leave even after he spoke nicely, and she cried when he was harsh. What was he supposed to do?

Ah well, maybe she just found the novelty of being a waitress appealing. Like a person who was used to eating delicacies suddenly finding a piece of bread delicious.

Once the novelty wore off, she would leave on her own.
