Chapter 200: Fallen’s Wings
Chapter 200: Fallen’s Wings
'The bastard's reaction is fast…He already realized that we're catching up.' thought Shye, gritting his teeth as he hacked and slashed at the massive troll.
Luckily, due to the synergy of his dual greatswords, the temporary paralyzation effect gave them more openings compared to the Aslan representatives.
Hence, although the Aslan representatives picked up their pace, the Colzen representatives slowly caught up. powered by mvle-mp|y|r
"These two parties are way too ferocious for student adventurers, no?! The poor Forest Troll Berserker stood no chance! Our finalists are just way too strong!!"
The commentator said as he stepped his right foot on top of his desk, not suppressing his burning emotions in the slightest.
Just when the representatives were feeling comfortable and confident in dealing with the enormous troll, red stripes suddenly appeared on the troll's body.
It then started to drool before roaring wildly.
"Shit! The troll went berserk!" Ian exclaimed, giving Shye a quick glance as he waited for his instructions.
Hearing Ian's words, Shye temporarily went silent and gave the Aslan party a brief look.
'They're adopting a defensive approach huh?' he mused. Playing it safe would probably be the better choice but they were behind.
Shye knew they had to adapt differently or the gap would remain the same.
Gnashing his teeth after making a bold decision, Shye gripped the handles of his greatswords tighter before opening his mouth to speak:
"Don't fall back! Let's fight fire with fire!"
Then, right after saying his piece, Shye courageously charged toward the berserk troll.
'The hillbillies have gone crazy! They dare fight the troll while its berserk state is active? Delusional!' thought Damien after glancing at the Colzen party who decided to adopt an aggressive approach.
"S-Shye Crowley charges towards the Forest Troll Berserker!! While Aslan steps back, He chooses to advance!! If the Colzen party pulls this off, it would be bad for the Aslan representatives!!" The commentator shouted, his voice slightly trembling from excitement.
Even the crowd cheered after seeing the difference in approach.
Fighting defensively might be the safer choice but an aggressive stance would always be the more exciting one.
Hence, the Colzen crowd once again burst into cheers as the captain of the Colzen party showed everyone what it meant to be an adventurer–braving dangers for the sake of a brighter tomorrow.
"Hoh…I must say, Lord Blas. This Shye Crowley has never disappointed me even once this entire tournament. All his choices would've been my choices if I was younger…"
"Hahahaha! Guild Master Dong, you sure love to make everyone laugh. You? Choosing aggressiveness? From what I remember, when we were in the same adventurer party in the past, you were the first one to run at the sight of the (S-) ranked Poison Drake!"
"Wha–? You old dog, Sparrow! How dare you slander me in front of other guild masters?! You wanna have a go right now?! Huh?!!"
"Hahaha! Do you think I'm scared of you?! Come then! I shall teach you a lesson on behalf of your parents!"
Seeing two prominent guild masters act like children in front of him, Blas felt his head ache.
"Guild Master Dong! Guild Master Sparrow! Please act appropriately or I will have to step in."
Blas said with a frowning face and a stern tone.
Realizing that the city lord was angry, the two guild masters cleared their throats before speaking to try and calm Blas down.
"Hahaha! We were just jesting, Lord Blas. Me and Guild Master Sparrow are good friends, right? Guild Master Sparrow?"
"Bahahah! Guild Master Dong is correct, Lord Blas. We were just joking, please don't take our words to heart…"
While Guild Master Dong and Guild Master Sparrow are performing in their clown show, the other guild masters have already made a decision.
Win or lose, they would try to secure Shye for their guilds.
As for Shye, who unknowingly became a hot prospect for the guild masters, his charge was warmly greeted by two full-powered diagonal chops from the Forest Troll Berserker's battle axes.
"Crowley!" exclaimed Wendy. She wasn't adept at close-range combat so the current situation looked dangerous in her eyes.
Well, it was dangerous but…Shye has a plan and has already decided to reveal one of his trump cards.
Just before the sharp edges of the troll's battle axes made contact with his head, Shye suddenly disappeared, leaving the troll confused.
"H-Hey! Look! Shye Crowley is flying!!"
Hearing the words of someone in the crowd, everyone looked at the sky and sure enough, Shye was there.
On his back was a pair of rotting angel wings, gray-colored and transparent.
Even for his party members, this was the first time they saw Shye use such a skill so they were left dumbstruck for a few moments.
Fortunately for them, the troll was currently confused; its slow brain failed to process where the puny human was.
His new skill, [(Dark) Fallen's Wings Lv.1 (Rare)], provided him with not only a massive agility boost but also the ability to fly for one and a half seconds with a short cooldown of two seconds.
The skill would be active for one whole minute, giving him the appropriate capabilities to evade the berserk troll's attacks.
Using the downward momentum of gravity to his advantage, Shye pointed his greatswords downwards and held them in an ice-pick grip, attempting to viciously stab the troll's small brain.
No matter how tough the creature was, once its brain was stabbed, then it would undoubtedly die.
"Die!" Shye exclaimed, activating his skill, [Rush Stab Lv.3], to further increase his momentum.
*CRACK*
"ROOOOOAAAAAR!"
The troll roared in agony as Shye's greatswords successfully cracked its skull, unfortunately, his raw strength wasn't enough to push the greatswords through the troll's brain.
"Tch!"
Realizing that he failed to kill the troll, Shye clicked his tongue and immediately kicked at the troll's face, allowing him to pull his greatswords out and escape before the creature managed to retaliate.
'Phew…This f*cking hillbilly, scaring me like that…' Damien inwardly heaved a sigh of relief. 'We need to step up or these bastards will take the lead!'
