Chapter 234: Raven Blade’s Rookie: Officially Registered
"Hey, look. Could that guy be a rookie with a recommendation letter?"
a young male adventurer with short black hair, tan skin, and toned body whispered.
"What else could he be? There's still two weeks before the guild's admission exam commences." another young adventurer replied.
"Well, it's just that we rarely get rookies with recommendations from the main branch."
The two adventurers continued whispering, making everyone in the guild more and more curious about Shye.
Naturally, in every guild, there are a few bad apples.
These insecure, rotten eggs naturally hated such perceived talented newcomers.
After all, when they were rookies, they had to go through a tough admission exam, only to be made fun of by the veterans and since their personalities were rotten—and rather…sensitive, they took the jests to heart.
Unfortunately, since those veterans either perished while undertaking quests or had already been promoted to a higher ranking branch—some even promoted to the main branch in Valenzia, these once rookies had nowhere to vent.
Thus, picking on rookies slowly became their hobby.
There were a few recommended individuals who had actually been ruined by them and in their minds, Shye would be no different should he dare cross them.
As for Shye, he was fully aware that he already become a hot topic but he chose not to care.
His admission hasn't even been completed yet so he deemed such hubbub superficial as he focused on the task at hand which was to complete his guild registration.
Fortunately, he didn't have to wait long.
Recognizing the credentials of the young man in front of her, the guild receptionist suddenly became nervous.
With her experience, checking Shye's documents and recommendation letter should have been a breeze.
However, since this was the first time she had encountered such impressive credentials throughout her entire career, she couldn't help but feel slightly dumbfounded with every turn of a page.
This made the document-checking process take longer than usual.
"S-S-Shye C-Crowley, correct? V-Very impressive credentials you got there. This is the first time we ever got an ace representative of the AAC's Champion Academy as a rookie, however, worry not, I'm sure the guild would be able to make such a talented rookie like you shine. Welcome to Raven's Blade Balkrow Branch."
The guild receptionist said, appearing very nervous in the beginning but confident towards the end.
"My name is Aya Rougenfort, Raven's Blade Adventurer Guild Balkrow Branch's guild receptionist. I'm in charge of basic information, rookie admissions, and quest distribution. If you want to take on a quest, you may select one from the quest board over there and hand it over to me so I can register the quest under your name."
"If you look to the right, the desk over there is where you can turn in your quests after completion while on the left is the lobby where you can order food and refreshments. In addition to these two areas, we have a huge basement training area which you can access from the stairs over there."
"If you have any questions you can ask me, however, please do note that quest registration would be prioritized over inquiries. Here's your gold-ranked adventurer badge, your adventurer license, and your Raven's Blade emblem. I believe that's all from me. Congratulations and once again, welcome to the guild!"
Receptionist Aya said with a sweet smile on her face.
She looked beautiful.
Her long green hair complemented her attractive oval-shaped face while her moderately tight guild uniform accentuated her slender neck, ample bosom, and curvaceous hips.
With how gorgeous Aya was, it was inevitable for some of the guildsmen to fall for her.
Unfortunately for Shye, among those few were the insecure troublemakers, so when Aya directed an unusually sweet smile at him, it immediately garnered the full-blown ire of these loathsome individuals.
Aya always smiles, however, her smile usually felt distant, as though their simple attempts to flirt would never be able to get through a huge chasm.
Seeing her smile like that towards some rookie?
Unacceptable!
A subtle example demonstrating how beauty has the potential to lead a city to its downfall.
The bad eggs wanted to make a move, however, they did not have ample time to plan, hence, they could only watch as Shye left the guild branch to look for accommodations.
Striding out of the guild branch in a slightly better mood, Shye decided to tour the entire city first—spoil himself a bit.
There was no need for him to rush.
After narrowly escaping a life-threatening situation, he certainly deserves some relaxation time.
Meandering about in the marble streets of Balkrow City, Shye had a slight smile on his face as he enjoyed staring at various high-rise establishments in the city, engraving their locations in his mind.
Contrary to his expectations, children were playing in the streets, looking foolish as they chased each other along narrow corners—probably sons and daughters of fairly prominent adventurers.
Although Balkrow City wasn't at the level of Valenzia, it was certainly not that far away—way better than the likes of Colzen and Windleton City.
Unlike academy cities, professional adventurers littered the marble streets—each looking mightier than the last.
Such a sight naturally ignited the passion in Shye's heart.
Although there were only a few young adventurers around the same age as him, he knew that things wouldn't be the same two weeks from now when various fresh graduates from other cities converged in Balkrow.
Feeling pumped in anticipation of the intense competition between rookies two weeks from now, Shye couldn't help but feel giddy.
'There would probably be a rookie competition among guilds. If I join and win…hehehe…'
In need of a way to expel the excess energy coursing through his body, Shye dashed across the street like a child, drawing the attention of professional adventurers as he kicked up clouds of dust and gusts of wind.
While in the middle of his run, he suddenly remembered something.
Consequently, he scanned through various establishments as he ran past them, searching for the specific one he needed to enter.
