Chapter 277: Fighting For A Unique-Tier Skill
Chapter 277: Fighting For A Unique-Tier Skill
'Damn, this skill is quite fire, no?' Shye inwardly thought as he waited for the bidding to start with bated breath.
It wasn't only him though.
Such a strong, unblockable, and versatile skill, would naturally capture the attention of all warrior-class adventurers in the venue.
Things were bound to become a bidding war.
Waiting for just the appropriate duration to foster eagerness and longing among the auction attendees, Liu Meixiu spoke again.
"The starting bid for this skill book is 60,000 silver coins with increments of 1,000. Let the bidding begin!"
"65,000!"
"75,000!"
"78,000!"
The price of the skill quickly rose, however, Shye didn't bid yet.
He knew that it would simply be a waste of breath since the price was bound to go higher.
In just a few minutes, his theory proved to be correct as the price went up to about 130,000 silver coins before slowing down.
The current market price for unique tier skills was 120,000 silver coins to 170,000 silver coins depending on its effects.
Usually, those that were sold for the maximum price of 170,000 silver coins were those skills that could decide the outcome of battles in one hit, hence, upon reaching the 130,000 silver coin mark, people started to give up on the skill.
In their eyes, the skill was not worth more than 130,000 silver coins.
Shye begged to differ though.
He was sure that the skill would be a menace in his hands, thus, he was a bit more willing than others to spend money on it.
"140,000!" Shye bid, his grating voice assaulting the ears of everyone in the venue.
Following such a significant surge in bids, many promptly withdrew, yet there appeared to be around two more people as enthusiastic as him to acquire the skill.
With three bidders in contention, the bidding war for the first unique-tier skill approached its climax.
"142,000!"
"145,000!" A bidder from VIP room ten remarked with a faint undertone of anger, surprised that two individuals from lesser super deluxe rooms would dare to challenge him.
Hailing from Valenzia City, the man's impression of the skill wasn't really that great.
Still, he intended to utilize it as a present for an upcoming warrior-class super rookie from his guild, aiming to curry favor with him and secure a favorable future for himself.
He was strong himself, however, he wasn't bound to be one of the strongest in the entire region, hence, he decided to play it smart and be a close ally of someone who had the potential to.
Irksomely, two individuals he deemed lesser dared make things difficult for him.
There was an item he wanted to purchase so he couldn't spend too much on a gift.
"150,000!" Shye bid again, his irritating voice only exacerbating the fury within the VIP's heart.
"150,000 from the gentleman in room number thirty-six! Anyone who wishes to challenge?" Liu Meixiu's soothing yet vibrant voice sounded from the stage, consoling the hearts of those who were forced to give up. "Going once!"
"151,000! I really need this item and I would appreciate it if the two gentlemen from rooms thirty-six and twenty-seven could give me some fa–"
"155,000!"
Unfortunately for the VIP, Shye didn't even give him the slightest bit of face, rudely cutting the former's words as the latter exclaimed a counter-bid.
Since this was the first time Larzen, the VIP guy, experienced such disrespect and humiliation, he was utterly furious.
The obviously suppressed laughter from the surrounding guests only served to further ignite the rage in his heart.
"It seems the gentleman in room number thirty-six is quite eager to acquire the skill book. In that case, I will graciously step back this time. However, I suggest you take heed of my advice: be sure to watch your back." Larzen said, his voice containing an underlying threat, causing those who dared laugh earlier to shut up for fear of attracting the man's wrath.
"Heh, no one cares about you so there wasn't any need to explain your actions is there? If you don't have the money to bid then just close your mouth, simple as that." Shye sneered in disdain, the power of his high-pitched annoying voice on full display.
He had the perfect plan today and he was sure that no one would be able to catch him, hence, there was zero worry in his heart.
Disrespect those who deserve it.
Sensing the escalating situation, Liu Meixiu stepped in and did her job.
She was accustomed to VIP guests threatening others if their desires weren't met, as such distasteful occurrences were common in nearly every auction.
It wasn't the responsibility of their auction house to safeguard guests beyond its premises though; therefore, Shye could only rely on himself once the auction ended.
"155,000 going once!"
"Going twice!"
"The winning bid of 155,000 silver coins goes to the gentleman in super deluxe room thirty-six! Our staff will promptly deliver your item to your room."
Once the bidding war for the unique-tier warrior skill was finished, the three guests in contention had varying reactions.
The gentleman inside super deluxe room twenty-seven had a nonchalant expression, as though the earlier bidding war had nothing to do with him.
On the other hand, Shye was naturally ecstatic. Such a skill suits him, a greatsword dual-wielder with a high damage output.
He was sure that with each slash of the unblockable semi-passive skill, a huge chunk of his opponent's mana and stamina would be depleted, making it almost impossible for anyone to defeat him in a long, drawn-out battle.
As for Larzen, who not only suffered defeat in the bidding war but also endured humiliation from someone he considered inferior, he seethed with rage inside the VIP room, promptly shattering a communication talisman in his hand.
"Porz, you've witnessed what happened just now, correct? Track down the arrogant fool in super-deluxe room thirty-six, tail him throughout the city, and apprehend him. I intend to personally deal with this hateful bastard."
