Selina shook her head. “Rest assured, that person wasn’t targeting you. I will thoroughly investigate this matter and provide you with an explanation.”
Having witnessed Selina’s capabilities, Charlotte and Joe had no doubts about her ability to find the real culprit. After a moment’s hesitation, they agreed.
Before leaving, Selina handed each of them a box. “This matter is ultimately connected to me, so consider this my apology.”
After leaving the underground market, Charlotte opened the box Selina had given her.
Inside the palm-sized velvet box were dozens of rubies, each the size of a thumb, with top-notch purity
and clarity.
