Forbidden Zone of the Human Race

Chapter 344

Chapter 344: Return

While Xiang Ning and Qi Jiuming were bickering, the Ghostblade Mantis had recovered from its panic over losing an eye. There was a saying that beasts became stronger with more injuries. In their eyes, humans were delicious meals that they couldn’t resist, especially one like Qi Jiuming.

The Ghostblade Mantis knew how strong the human was, and felt like victory would be difficult. But the benefits were obvious, too. If it ate him, this early tier five beast’s power would ascend up to a Beast King’s level. That instinctive desire for ascension was what drove its behavior.

When it’d ambushed Qi Jiuming, three of Xiang Ning’s knives had flown out of their sheaths. Though his mental power had increased to tier four, seven-star, he still couldn’t block a tier five beast’s attack; therefore he had to pay the price of three knives to block the attack. Although the sacrifice had only hindered the attack by zero-point-something seconds, with Qi Jiuming’s reflexes, it was enough for him to dodge.

“You brat, you’ll see! Stand there and don’t move! Do you understand me?” Qi Jiuming was using a spear, lunging toward one of the mantis’ joints and breaking through its green exoskeleton. If he could hit it again, the beast would be crippled.

With Qi Jiuming’s glare and that tone, Xiang Ning had a feeling he would soon be beaten up and planned to quietly slip away.

Fury Points +155

He didn’t even get to move before Qi Jiuming cried and the tip of his spear pierced through the beast. The compressed air could be seen by the naked eye, all was silent for one second, then an explosion as loud as a grenade sounded. One of the mantis’ sickle-like front limbs had been punctured.

Qi Jiuming’s dance of violence brought him back to Xiang Ning’s side. Xiang Ning gulped, glancing at him, who glared right back at him. Based on that glare, if he moved a muscle, he would be dead in the next second.

“Hey, you can’t treat me like that, I just recovered my cultivation, you need to let me help the city out, right?”

Fury Points +233

“Just you wait!” Qi Jiuming almost abandoned the escaping Ghostblade Mantis to beat Xiang Ning up. He wasn’t thinking about how the brat got his cultivation back, all he knew was that he mustn't leave.

Xiang Ning was speechless. That number wasn’t right. It was more than two hundred Fury Points, which meant that Qi Jiuming fully planned to beat him up!

Meanwhile, there was a battle going on not far away. Qi Jiuming and Xiang Ning were only in the peripheral region of the battle.

The peripheral battlefield was the battlefield made up of tier fours and below. Tier fives and up were considered central points, and whenever beasts and humans of different tiers collided, it was fatal to the weaker side.

Xiang Ning had his eyes on a beast who was fighting a human. That human was Fatty Wang and, just like Qi Jiuming, he used a spear. It looked more out of place in his hand as he was so fat. Even so, he wasn’t named the leader of the second trainee batch for nothing. Fatty Wang’s tier three, one-star cultivation was enough to draw with a tier three, six-star beast.

Recalling something, Xiang Ning slipped away. He was there to help after all, and his Windbreaker was arriving in two minutes, which would be just in time.

Activate Taunt!

“Fatty Wang! Here, here!” Xiang Ning yelled. It was just loud enough to reach the fatty’s location, which included seven beasts.

The round teenager was focused on his fight, but halted the moment he heard the familiar voice and instinctively looked over. He immediately regretted it because it was a big mistake—one mustn’t be distracted during combat.

He felt a cool breeze on his back and saw an enlarging shadow as two words popped in his mind: I’m finished.

However, the beast he was fighting missed him and was now charging toward Xiang Ning!

“What… what just happened?” He was stunned, but another wave of shock hit him when he realized the beasts were charging toward Xiang Ning, who didn’t have any cultivation! Forget about analyzing the beast’s attacks, Xiang Ning would die even if they only brushed shoulders!

The other seven beasts also charged at Xiang Ning, much to the confusion of all the students and soldiers fighting them. What had happened? They were in the middle of a fight, why did all the beasts run?

Wait, I think I see someone there. Why does he look so familiar? No, it’s Xiang Ning! everyone cursed to themselves. They didn’t understand how Xiang Ning could attract so much hatred. Just how had he attracted seven beasts? Did he have a beast attractant on him? No, now wasn’t the time to think; they must stop the beasts. He was going to be mashed to a pulp!

“RUN! RUN!”

“Xiang Ning, run!”

“No, I can’t make it!”

“Xiang Ning!” Fatty Wang roared in fury and hurled his spear, immediately blinding the beast nearest to him. But the beasts showed no signs of stopping.

Xiang Ning smirked. Would he be afraid now that his abilities were back? But to be honest, he was indeed slightly worried. Why?

Because he didn’t have a single weapon on him and he wasn’t trained in using his fists. Although he was a tier four, seven-star martial artist, his fists couldn’t break through the beasts’ defenses. He could hurt them at best, but only by fracturing his bones in return.

Therefore, just as instructed, Xiang Ning ran. He was happy to do so.

“What the hell? Yes, yes! That’s right!”

“Yes, yes! Don’t let them catch up!”

Everyone cheered him on when they saw him running, until they came to their senses. “What the hell, why are you so fast?!”

Xiang Ning was speechless. You all were the ones who told me to run, so I did! “Of course I’m fast, or would you rather I run shoulder-to-shoulder with the beasts?”

The crowd was shocked.

Seeing as Qi Jiuming had nothing to say, Xiang Ning yelled, “Give me a weapon!”

Thirty more seconds! It would be enough!

“Teacher Xiang Ning! Catch!” Without thinking, one of Wang Zhe’s peers, a martial artist of tier two, seven-star tossed him his weapon without thinking about how he would fight after that.

Xiang Ning caught the sword. It was a class two iridium longsword. It’s too light. That was his first thought. It was like holding a wisp of straw, but it was still better than nothing.

He smirked, looking at the beasts, then slowed to a walk and the beasts quickly caught up. A Shadowblood Hound pounced on him with gnashing teeth, but he suddenly turned, bringing along a gust of wind.

Shadowblood Hound, die!
