Volume 2, Chapter 5.1: Unicorn’s Horn?
The battle between ?Dancing Sword?and?Slaughterer Circus Troupe? had begun.
Despite being overwhelmingly outnumbered, the ten members of ?Dancing Sword? easily gained the upper hand in the battle.
Leading the charge was the captain of ?Dancing Sword?’s subjugation team, Fando, who swung his greataxe with amazing momentum.
?ORAORAORAORAAAAAAAAAAAA!?
His powerful swings kept the masked men of ?Slaughterer Circus Troupe? in check, causing them to hesitate in spite of their overwhelming numbers.
Even though five of them were coming at once toward Fando, none of them could step inside the range of Fando’s greataxe.
It was obvious that they wanted to avoid a direct battle against Fando, the strongest of their prey, but they couldn’t go against the orders of the sub-guild master, Clown.
It was obvious that every single one of ?Slaughterer Circus Troupe?’s members wanted to avoid a fatal wound.
Thus, they held back, remaining just outside of Fando’s range.
?Dancing Sword? was one of the top ten most powerful guilds in Barreira City, the capital of adventurers.
?Slaughterer Circus Troupe? could overwhelm their opponent in numbers, but they were nothing more than thugs with weapons, far outclassed by their opponent’s quality.
?What are you doing! Surround them and kill them all!?
Upon hearing Clown’s furious voice, the masked men who stood behind Fando approached him.
Talmiya, the female swordsman who had apparently been waiting for that, leaped down from her horse. She kicked off the masked man, slashing his throat in one fluid motion and landing gracefully on the ground.
?Good job, Talmiya.?
?Almost no different from the rumors. Does that mean these people are just weak thugs??
?HOW DARE YOU!?
One masked man fired a dart with his blowgun at Fando.
Leaning slightly from atop his horse, Fando swung his greataxe then used it to shield his back from the oncoming dart. He retreated to threaten the masked man.
Startled by Fando’s actions, the masked man fell from the back of his horse, dying after getting stabbed by his own blowgun.
-So they’re using projectiles since they realized that they couldn’t beat us in close combat. They have no sense of camaraderie at all. And worst of all, that guy just now died from his own stupid mistake.
Fando heaved a sigh and then commanded his comrades.
?Be careful! These people won’t hesitate to use their own comrades to slip behind us!?
Rather than to inform his own comrades, Fando’s main reason for shouting this was to instill distrust amongst their enemies, further lowering their morale.
Hearing that, the masked men were more obvious in avoiding frontal confrontation.
?Dancing Sword?’s movements suddenly changed; they formed a circle around Legge, the sorcerer with perception magic, and turned the tide of the battle against ?Slaughterer Circus Troupe?, who had superior numbers.
Despite the overwhelming difference in numbers, it was a battle between a disordered crowd and a group of first-class adventurers.
The latter had an overwhelming advantage in this battle.
Everyone from ?Dancing Sword? was barely wounded while ?Slaughterer Circus Troupe? had already lost eight of its people.
It wasn’t about the difference in their respective powers. It was more about the difference between the two sides’ mental states and teamwork.
?Stop playing around, you useless pieces of shi*t!?
Clown chewed his blood-colored lips in frustration.
It was clear from Clown’s attitude that his subordinates were nothing more than disposable pawns.
The difference between the calibers of the two sides’ leaders decided the victory, and this fight shoved that bitter reality right into Clown’s face.
?Are you only going to look from over there??
?Dancing Sword?’s eyepatch swordsman, Torque, pointed his sword at Clown as he drove his horse in that direction.
?Are you looking down on me, you fu*cking brat??
Clown frowned upon hearing Torque’s remark.
Torque pushed his sword forward.
Clown’s figure suddenly vanished right before Torque’s sword stabbed him.
?W-Where did he go??
The moment he said this, he heard the sound of someone landing softly behind him.
Upon turning around, he saw that Clown was right there, standing on top of Torque’s horse.
?You think that shi*tty swordcraft of yours can reach me, shi*tty brat? Naive, too naive. You’re facing the joker, you kno~w.?
Clown deftly spun his knife with his left hand.
Even after Torque jumped down from the horse in panic, Clown’s knife still stabbed into his thigh and feet.
?Urgh!?
Torque rolled on the ground, dropping his weapon as his legs were pinned.
?Caught by an old trick. Are you an idiot??
Turning around his knife with his left hand to attract his enemy’s attention, and then striking his opponent by using his opposite hand.
It was Clown’s signature move.
-But, I guess it’s already too late to make a comeback now… I was too naive in thinking that we could steal the horn with just me alone. The plan might’ve succeeded if I was working together with the other vice-guild master. Master will definitely be pissed if they learn of this failure.
Clown smacked his lips in frustration as he jumped on Torque’s horse and escaped from the scene.
Seeing that, the other masked men started to lose their composure and turned around to follow their vice-guild master.
?C-Clown-samaaa!?
After seeing the fallen Torque, Talmiya glared at Clown like a feline beast eyeing its prey.
?STOP RIGHT THERE!?
Talmiya readied her double-edged sword and closed in on Clown at once.
?TAKE THIS, SH*TTY JESTEEER!?
One of the members of ?Dancing Sword? pulled his bow and fired an arrow at Clown.
