Volume 2, Chapter 40: Feast of Revenant Dragon?

Lambert put on his helmet again, readying his greatsword for another round against Rawnpoop.

?The reason for your greatest failure just now was the fact that you failed to kill me when you had the chance to do so. That was your first and last chance beat me, and now, you’ve missed it.?

Rawnpoop’s head and tail circled Lambert, preventing him from moving as he wished.

Even Rawnpoop had never expected that its fierce attacks would fail to kill Lambert.

Rawnpoop kept circling around Lambert, watching every single one of his movements while looking for another gap.

Even for someone as powerful as Lambert, having to fight Rawnpoop’s giant body which was split into two parts and Lilith’s undead army by himself would be an extremely dire situation.

But unlike before, Lambert didn’t show any opening.

He remained in one place, exterminating the approaching undead with minimal effort and returning to his stance.

No matter how long they waited, his stance didn’t show any sign of crumbling.

The undead mass produced by Lilith was far too weak to defeat Lambert.

Finally, Rawnpoop was the one who ran out of patience.

The head and tail parts opened some distance from Lambert while circling around him. They were going to use the same pattern as before to kill Lambert for sure this time.

Against that, Lambert just stood motionlessly in place.

Even when Lilith’s undead army had surrounded him, he was completely still.

Rawnpoop rushed at him from back and front, allowing no resistance.

‘Did he finally run out of strength? No, that shouldn’t be the case, right?’

Manzi could only watch with a bewildered look.

Despite being pushed around by numerous undead who surrounded him, Lambert was still like a mountain.

If he was already running out of strength, he should’ve felt the moment those undeads clung to him, trying to peel his armour.

But since that wasn’t the case, Manzi became even more intrigued as to the reason why he stayed still despite the undead’s harassment.

The head and tail of Rawnpoop then rushed toward Lambert, who was already buried under lots of undead.

At that moment, the blade of a greatsword silently stuck out from the mountain of undead as if to welcome the incoming Rawnpoop’s tail.

?I’ve been waiting for that.?

Rawnpoop’s tail changed its track.

It was circling around the mountain of undead as if to avoid Lambert’s strange move and going straight to the head part.

Manzi couldn’t do anything but watch the situation.

Even though he couldn’t grasp what Rawnpoop felt right now by looking at its face, it was clear as day that Rawnpoop had no idea about this too.

?AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA??

The tail struck right into Rawnpoop’s own face.

The combination of the speed and its own tail’s overwhelming weight had crushed Rawnpoop’s ugly and swollen baby-like face.

RUMBLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

A crack ran down their grotesque, baby-like face and body as the overwhelming mass of both parts of Rawnpoop crashed into each other at a terrifying speed.

One of its eyeballs fell on the ground where the pieces collided.

?Great Heaven Shift. That’s the special move of my master, Quixote.?

In reality, it was an extremely dangerous counter skill that invited the opponent to make an attack and then reversed the power of their attack to the foe. Failure meant death.

It was a skill that used the joints of the other party, manipulating it to redirect their own attack on themself. But the reason Lambert could use it to throw Rawnpoop was none other than the numerous joints in their body.

As expected, it was impossible even for the current Lambert to redirect the charging attack of Rawnpoop’s tail to them. However, he made a slight adjustment and changed the movement orbit of Rawnpoop’s tail and made it crash into its main body.

Even Lambert realized that he simply lacked the pure, brute force to kill Rawnpoop for good.

For that reason, he made a risky gamble by bisecting Rawnpoop’s body into two parts to use their overwhelming life force, mass, and speed against them.

He even made full use of Lilith’s undead army to act as cover to hide his sword until the very last moment to use the Great Heaven Shift to destroy Rawnpoop’s face for good.

Manzi’s eyes almost popped out of their sockets upon seeing the scene unfold before him. It was simply too overwhelming for the people of this peaceful era.

Rawnpoop’s giant body started to crumble behind Lambert, who stood with composure.

Numerous small cracks ran down the surface of Rawnpoop’s body as it vanished part by part.

Maybe because the core of its body broke due to the previous collision, Rawnpoop’s eyeless face was crooked as blue, liquid-like tears ran down from its empty eye sockets.

Its pale blue tongue drooped from its mouth like a sad dog.

Something like numerous small fibers ran down its crumbling innards.

?Guiref-sama’s spirit… Guiref-sama’s… Rawnpoop is…?

Although its entire body convulsed as if it was experiencing rigor mortis, Rawnpoop rose up behind Lambert.

Its remaining eyeball moved round and round.

As if mustering the last bit of its strength to rush toward Lambert, it began to creep again.

?A-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!?

But then, Lambert’s figure suddenly vanished. By the next moment, he was already standing on top of Rawnpoop’s neck, ready to deliver a coup de grace.

?Give it up. You’ve already lost your eyes and can’t even move properly. You’ve even lost your prized tough skin. The current you is nothing more than an oversized caterpillar.?

A straight, long line appeared on Rawnpoop’s face.

Blue liquid spurted from that line, and Rawnpoop was defeated for sure this time.

The rush of liquid came to an absurd stop. Its countless arms dangled powerlessly, and its abdomen dug a long trench on the ground due to sudden deceleration. And then, it stopped moving immediately.

Rawnpoop’s body vanished along with particles of light.

?Guiref-sama… lost? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA… THAT’S… THAT’S…?

As he cried, Manzi looked at the vanishing body of Rawnpoop.

In the next moment, Lambert’s sword tip was already pointing toward Guiref’s Grimoire in Manzi’s hands.

Black Lilith fluttered in the air, pointing her hands toward Lambert as if trying to stop him from swinging down his sword.

The mountain of crushed corpses rose up at once, bundled together, hardened, and used to block Lambert.

The wall that formed from a lump of corpses’ meat could only be described with a single word: grotesque.

Lilith’s action was a clear indication that she wasn’t acting on Manzi’s order who already lost his willpower to fight.

?For you, the citizens of the spirit world, that apparition called Guiref’s Grimoire might be the best gate for you guys to appear in this world and spread death. But…?

Lambert readied his greatsword.

In the next moment, Lambert’s figure had already vanished from where he stood. Following that, a huge hole created in the wall of flesh blocked his way.

By the next moment, Lambert had already arrived right in front of Manzi, who was riding on calamity horse, Troy. Lambert’s sword was already raised up.

From her right hip to her left shoulder, Lilith’s body had already been cut in two.

?As long as my eyes are still black, I won’t let you filthy citizens of the spirit world spread your filth in Regios Kingdom.?

Red blood spurt from the bisected part of Lilith.

Following that, the wall of flesh and the undead army crumbled down.

Lilith gasped in pain as her body vanished into particles of light.

Lambert’s next swing slayed the calamity horse Troy.

The shockwave of the slash that killed Troy knocked Manzi off of Troy’s back, making him literally kiss the ground.

Troy fell beside him, then vanished into particles of light too.

?…Come to think of it, I have no eyes anymore. Well, it was just a figure of speech anyway.?

Having no intention to back down, Lambert stepped forward to approach Manzi, who was already wounded all over his body.

?I-Impossible… Guiref-sama lost! I REFUSE! I REFUSE TO ACCEPT THIS RESULT!!?

?You can only summon up to the ninth of the 13 spirits, Revenant Dragon Rawnpoop. You can’t even summon the tenth one. You don’t even know a single shi*t about Guiref. How the hell did you get that confidence to claim yourself as the inheritor of Guiref’s will? Though you act like big shot because you have that accursed book, you don’t even realize that those spirits are treating you as nothing more than a gate.?

?H-HOW DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THAT?! I-I-I…!?

Manzi couldn’t accept the fact that Lambert had told him the truth.

Even with his achievement in sorcery, Manzi couldn’t summon the 10th through 13th spirits.

The ninth spirit, Revenant Dragon Rawnpoop, was his limit.

No matter how many corpses he prepared, he couldn’t even catch a glimpse of their figure.

?L-LONG LIVE, GUIREF-SAMA!!?

Manzi curled up while hugging Guiref’s Grimoire as if trying to protect it.

Lambert raised his greatsword.

?Sorry, but I’m the one who will kill that guy.?

?L-Lambert… LAMBERT DE LA CROIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIX!?

Manzi glared at Lambert with bloodshot eyes.

At this time, he was convinced.

The one before him was one of Four Demon Generals who slayed Guiref. This was the shadow of Lambert, the greatest traitor of Regios Kingdom.

The raised blade then swung down, destroying both Manzi and Guiref’s Grimoire.

Manzi’s lower and upper halves fluttered in midair before landing in separate places.

The ugly and atrocious old man, Manzi, fell face up, vomiting a large volume of blood from his mouth and cross-section.

…And died.

Lambert’s foot then trampled over the wreckage of Guiref’s Grimoire, which fell on top of Manzi’s head. That head died with an agonizing face, eyes wide open and tongue sticking out.

?I guess this is the end of this accursed book.?

After making sure that everything had ended, Lambert saw the figure of the headless horse Nightmare slipping in between the mountain of corpses toward him.

?Good job surviving from that messy bat— Uhm??

Lambert swung his sword right before he finished his sentence, breaking the arrow that was fired toward him.

When he looked up at the small hill where that arrow came from, he saw the figure of a handsome young man clad in noble clothes which were dirtied by blood and brine. The figure was riding on the back of a horse with a blue mane.

It was Robin Hood.

?Heya. After letting go of all my regrets, it’s the right thing to challenge you. Now let’s battle to the death.?

?…I was actually going to spare your life considering what you did during the riot, and yet, what’s the meaning of this??

?Upon knowing a swordsman of your caliber, those little scoundrels fled, and what remained are small fries.?
