Chapter 1019 - Leaving
Chapter 1019 - Leaving
Even Alex couldn't say anything when she was in this state. He simply waited for her to calm down.
"Ah, I apologize for letting you see something like that." As soon as she recovered, she bowed her head to Alex.
He only shrugged and asked. "Since we are done here, let's go toward the Rawak Kingdom."
"How?" She tilted her head in confusion.
"This way." Alex grabbed her waist and carried her like luggage. "Just make sure you don't talk too much or the sand will come and get you."
"What do you—" Before she finished, he jumped forward and began running toward the Rawak Kingdom. Because of the shock, Mileda kept screaming for a minute or so until she became used to it.
The pressure was intense. Alex also controlled his speed, so Mileda didn't get anything bad during the trip. That was why he needed one day to reach the Rawak Kingdom.
Of course, Mileda kept guiding Alex by pointing in a certain direction every time they found a city or a mark.
Alex's power was still lingering in her head because she thought there wasn't a single person as strong as Alex in the past. She couldn't help but wonder what kind of past Alex had to become this strong and whether it was possible or not to become as strong as him.
She might ask her brother about this since there might be something she didn't know. At the very least, two people were better than one.
After a whole day, Alex saw another city in his vision. The city was similar to their place, but it looked more elegant and bigger. They even had trees and a tall palace inside.
"By the way, what is your purpose for coming to this city?" Mileda asked.
"Nothing. I just want to read books. I will probably steal the books here." Alex shrugged.
"Books? That's a weird thing to steal…" She furrowed her eyebrows.
"Well, that's my intention. Books are the source of knowledge after all."
"In that case, I can give you a way to the library, but can you take me to the secret library of the palace? The normal library has much more books, but the palace's library has more secret books regarding the kingdom, so I think about retrieving it." She made a proposal to Alex.
"Sure thing." Alex's thought was pretty simple. He wasn't that greedy anyway. As long as he got his objective, it was enough. He then turned around while narrowing his eyes. "Before that…"
Alex's tone was stern and serious, so she thought something bad would happen. She immediately pulled out her sword and heard the rumbling in the ground.
"Haiz." Alex let out a sigh and unsheathed Eve. "I will handle this."
"You?" She managed to find ten presences nearby, and Alex was thinking about killing them alone? She knew that Alex was strong, but was he this strong?
When that question appeared in her mind, ten worms already emerged from the ground, trying to swallow Alex.
Alex only smiled. Since there was Mileda here, he chose not to show his Martial Arts. Instead, he concentrated on his strength alone.
The moment they were in his range, Alex swung his sword at a completely different level. His swing was so fast that the worms couldn't even move an inch before they realized they were cut.
Those ten worms died in an instant. Mileda could only stare at him with her jaw dropped to the ground.
'What did I just see? How fast was his swing earlier? I only saw him unsheathing his sword, and without me knowing, he already made a complete swing.'
Alex didn't realize her expression because he still sensed thirty more presences.
Since he didn't want to waste time anymore, he stomped the ground, forcing the worms to emerge to the surface. It took him a few seconds to cut all of them, and the fight ended without the worms could ever hit him.
However, what he exactly did was to confirm the system. From what Lin Xingzhi told him, the drop rate of the point was five percent. And you could change ten points for one ticket. It was a basic trade, but the most optimal one to make sure that they could sustain the entire system while taking the biggest profit.
"Let's go inside immediately," Alex then turned to Mileda and said, "I will be giving you a chance to kill some individual worms, but I will deal with the one in a group. Don't forget to keep this a secret."
Mileda was still dumbfounded and instinctively nodded her head.
"Alright, then." Alex didn't wait for her to recover and walked toward the city. This action forced Mileda to recover and follow him.
"Wait for me."
The two walked inside the city, finding many places that had been torn down while some were still intact. It seemed the worms only occupied a few places that could be their home. And when they found Alex and Mileda, they attacked them.
Of course, Alex beat them up and handed them to Mileda for her to kill. During this time, Mileda learned how to kill the worm and somehow managed to kill one herself.
Alex told her that it would become easier if she brought a group of five that could block their attacks with a giant shield while the remaining teammates focused on damaging the worm until they died.
Unknowingly, Alex just gave an idea for her to build an adventurer guild. They fought and ventured in such a place as a team. But this was a story for later.
Their current position was in the middle of the city, where they met a giant plaza with a fountain in the center.
Mileda then found out that the library had collapsed before they came here and panicked since she couldn't help Alex achieve his objective.
"What's wrong?" Alex saw her panicked face and asked.
"That collapsed building over there…" She pointed at the library with a weird face. "That's the library."
"Oh?!" Alex nodded and walked toward the collapsed building without care. As long as he saw the book, he could easily store them inside his Inventory.
To his surprise, he didn't find a single book. Even the shelves had weird circular shapes around them.
"This…Did the worms eat it?" Alex muttered in confusion. He never thought that the worms would eat books too. "I thought that the reason why there are no corpses outside is because of the worms, but it seems they have a bigger appetite than I expected them."
Alex scratched the back of his head, wondering what he should do now. On his way here, he had learned many things after observing how Mileda used her Holy Emblem, but he planned to get more basic knowledge from the books. Unfortunately, it wasn't possible anymore.
Mileda also watched how there wasn't a single book in this library and the condition of the shelves. She thought that the books would be scattered on the floor, but it seemed to be not the case here.
"There are still many books in the secret library. I believe the worms haven't found it yet since it's not on the ground or a building like this. Maybe I can sort some of the important information about the Rawak Kingdom and pick those books only. You can take the rest." Mileda tried to pay him back for all his deeds to the kingdom.
She, her brother, and all the citizens who had taken the food and water from him grew so much during the past few days, so she knew that Alex had been trading with them at a loss. And with how he wanted to wander around the world again in a few days, she thought this was the best thing she could give to Alex.
Alex turned around and looked at her. "Really?"
"Yes. I promise you. Please let me repay you." Mileda bowed her head.
Feeling her generosity, Alex decided to give her something. "Take this."
She grabbed a small thing that Alex threw.
"This…" It turned out to be a ring. She wondered whether Alex gave this because he liked her or something.
Before the misunderstanding continued, Alex explained. "That's a Space Ring. You can put it on and channel your power into that ring before directing it to a certain item. It will store the item inside that ring. Try to store the rock beside you."
Mileda was confused but still did what he asked. Suddenly, the stone disappeared, stunning her. "Where is the rock? Is it really inside this ring?"
"Yes. If you channel your power again, you will get a good grasp of what inside the ring. And if you direct it to the rock again, you will be able to take it out." Alex explained.
She first checked whether the rock was inside the ring, and yes, she found it inside. After that, she covered the rock with her energy and it disappeared. The next second, she found the same rock that showed up near her feet.
"This…" Mileda was stunned. Never in her life saw something this magical.
"That's my last gift. You can store anything as long as it fits. The space inside that ring is around a fourth of this place." Alex pointed at the library.
It was quite a huge library, so a fourth of it was a kind of a pond they had in the back of the building. It could fit so many things inside to the point she wondered if Alex actually used this to transport all the water and food. In that case, she wondered where Alex got this ring.
Not to be greedy, she threw away the thought from her head and convinced herself. 'If it's fate, I will get more. If it's not, then I shouldn't be greedy because it will be my downfall.'
Since Alex gave her this ring, she pointed at the tallest tower in the city and said, "That's the place where we store the book. Since the tower is still intact, I believe the worms haven't realized that place yet."
"Alright. Let's go then."
She nodded and led Alex to the building.
And as she said, the building was still intact. As soon as they arrived, Mileda started separating the books that were related to their kingdom. Alex also helped her to speed up the process.
In the end, she got thirty percent of the books while Alex got the remaining seventy. Although he didn't get the basic thing, he got more than he needed, so he was quite satisfied.
This was a perfect example that your good deed would always be remembered and paid back.
Though Alex never had such an intention and treated this as a bonus and goodwill.
The books she needed were stored inside the Space Ring that Alex gave, making her realize how effective the Space Ring was.
It could even be considered a national treasure at this point.
Although Alex could still see worms in the ground, he didn't do anything to them, letting the people in this world face their own problems. At the very least, Alex had planted the seed to fight back in Mileda.
It would spread to the whole world from her, and before long, they would be able to fight those people from other worlds.
Alex then brought her back to the city she lived in, putting her down right next to the city gate.
No one was there since they wouldn't think that Alex and Mileda would return this early.
"Now, I have finished all my business in this place. It's time for me to go." Alex smiled, looking at Mileda with a serious expression. "You have your own talent. I believe that you can rebuild your kingdom again in the future."
"Thank you." She politely bowed. She learned a lot in this journey.
"No problem. Just one piece of advice. The world will turn into chaos soon, so you should prepare to make the society not collapse." Alex waved his hand. Without waiting for her to reply, Alex had gone to travel around the world once with Eve.
Mileda let out a long sigh when watching his back disappear to the horizon.
