Chapter 264: Black Crystal

'There's no other Turret or defensive mechanism being triggered… Is this the only thing they have?' Shane thought while his gaze was fixed on the toppled Automated Turret.

He couldn't help but feel a bit happy seeing how the Turret still looked really good as it barely incurred damage. His actions had not only neutralized a significant threat but had also secured a valuable asset that could benefit him in the future.

Then, looking at the cloaked Undead Creatures, a faint smile played upon his lips…

"Come… Let's see what you've got." Shane muttered as he looked at them, charging at him.

Graahhh!

They seemed enraged seeing that he had destroyed their Turret… Their figures covered in thick clothes were also oozing with the stench of death and now that Shane had gotten near, it was truly quite terrifying...

With a total of 12 of these malevolent entities bearing down upon him, Shane's instincts kicked into overdrive, his grip tightened on his trusty Epic Hatchet…

Although he could eliminate them with his fist, he didn't feel comfortable getting splattered by their bodily fluids or any rotten flesh.

With his Epic Hatchet's Fire Effect, he could burn their flesh and avoid such disgusting matter. He also didn't worry that his weapon would fail since he could tell from their movement that these Undead Creatures were barely at the level of a mid-tier Zombie.

However, as he killed the 7th Undead Soldier, a stronger Undead Creature emerged out of nowhere.

This creature lunged from the shadows to his left, its bony fingers inches away from his throat. With a swift step back, Shane avoided the deadly grasp…

'A lich? No, a Skeleton Knight?' Shane thought but he couldn't think too much about it as the battle hasn't ended yet.

He then retaliated with a swift Horizontal Slash of his Hatchet that sent the creature reeling.

Boom!

To his surprise, the Undead didn't get sliced in half as he thought, and he was only thrown far away, so he didn't die. He knew it as there was no notification confirming its death.

It was really strong, or at the very least, its armor was definitely not an average one!

Anyway, Shane hadn't eliminated all the normal undead creatures yet so he quickly made his move before the Skeleton Knight recovers. Shane's movements became faster as he fully utilized his bonus movement speed. His Epic Hatchet flashed in the dim light as he surged forward. He felt that they were moving too slowly, so he decided to pick up his face to end this battle quickly.

[ You have eliminated Undead Soldier. ]

One by one, the undead beings fell before his Hatchet's might; their mid-tier level of strength was no match for the sheer ferocity of his attacks.

With a final, decisive blow, Shane dispatched the last of the Undead Soldiers…

Calming his breath, he surveyed the battlefield strewn with fallen undead…

Then his eyes shifted to the previous Skeleton Knight… He realized that there were already three of them standing side by side…

Jumping down from the Rampart, Shane dashed towards their group! He didn't hesitate to eliminate them at all!

In the meantime, he was also observing the Wild Necromancer that had been detected by Cloud a few seconds ago. Well, since the Wild Necromancer wasn't planning to show himself yet, Shane decided to just observe him.

Seizing the opportunity, Shane lunged forward, his Hatchet struck the shoulder or the exposed joint of the knight's armor, eliciting a resounding clang as the blow landed.

Just like that, its right arm was cut off!

The Skeleton Knight staggered back, its unearthly form recoiling from the unexpected strike, but Shane wasted no time in pressing his advantage.

His next strikes' target was already quite obvious. He targeted the weak points in the knight's armor, each blow aimed with at their joints as he sought to dismantle his opponent piece by piece.

It seemed really dangerous but it was too slow in Shane's eyes.

Undeterred by their simple sword techniques, Shane continued to evade their attacks with a movement technique he learned in the A.I. rebellion. His movements focused on exploiting the vulnerabilities in their armor.

He could probably destroy their armors in four or more strikes but he felt that it would be too tiring to do so. With each strike, he was able to hit their joints or remove their limbs!

Without any errors, his Hatchet found its mark as he eliminated them methodically.

This happened four more times…

To be exact, he eliminated four sets of three Undead Skeleton Knights working together!

As the final blow fell, the last of the fifth set of Skeleton Knights crumbled to the ground, its armor shattered and broken as they died. It seemed that their armor was actually part of them.

'They should've learned to put that armor all over their bodies instead of just their torso.' Shane thought.

After a few breaths, Shane's raging heart started to calm down.

'Are you going to escape or summon another Undead?' Shane thought as he monitored the Wild Necromancer.

'Give me more experience points, please!' Shane thought as he could actually loot these Undead Summons. A moment ago, he noticed that there was a Black Crystal on the ground where the Undead Summons dissipated. Then he touched one of them a while ago and had a notification that he could loot them!

With a sense of satisfaction, he waited for the Wild Necromancer for his next moves, only to be stunned by the person's next actions.
