Chapter 171: 171. Record stone
Chapter 171: 171. Record stone
She decided to double down and hide her intentions
Lucius, unaware of her thoughts, fixed his cold red eyes on the beautiful woman before him and demanded,
"Why did you follow me?"
A fierce dragon aura emanated from Lucius, but Diana remained unfazed. Her bloodline, descended from world-conquering heroes, made her fearless even in the face of ancient dragons. Lucius's threat only drew a cold snort from her.
Knowing he wouldn't drop the matter, she answered with a firm retort,
"Lucius, you may be bold, but when did it become your place to question a noble's affairs?"
When Lucius heard Diana's words, he was taken aback. He knew Diana well and understood that she wasn't someone so narrow-minded as to believe in something as foolish as noble birthright.
If she was throwing out her noble status, she was definitely trying to avoid something.
Although Lucius realized Diana was trying to dodge the topic, he wouldn't let her off so easily. His voice deepened, echoing from his throat almost like a growl, his draconic majesty blasting through the surroundings like a siren.
"I'll ask again, and you'll answer me truthfully. Why were you spying on me?"
This time, Diana was truly annoyed. Although she knew she was in the wrong, Lucius was really going too far. After pressing her down earlier, he was actually speaking to her in a commanding tone.
"Snort!"
A mighty divine aura burst forth from her, causing Lucius to retreat several steps. She looked at Lucius and coldly retorted, "I am Diana Roffisier, daughter of Marquis Roffisier. If I don't want to talk about something, then you should stop questioning me."
Lucius raised an eyebrow. "Even if you were stalking me?"
As Diana heard this, her heart ached. She felt bad, but since she had made the choice, she could only stick with it to the end. She was sure that when she helped Lucius in the future, he would thank her for her decision today.
"The affairs of commoners and nobles arn't the same. You should stop asking about things outside your level"
When Diana said this she braced herself for Lucisus rage
But contrary to Diana's expectations, Lucius didn't erupt into one of his short-tempered outbursts as she had anticipated. Instead, a wide smile appeared on his face.
"Okay."
The change was so surprising that Diana nearly fell over.
"Huh? WHAT IS GOING ON?"
"It's a pity."
As the words came out of Lucius's mouth, Diana had an ominous feeling, and mere moments later, Lucius proved her feelings correct. Reaching into his pocket, Lucius pulled out a crystal ball that was flashing with scenes from just a few seconds ago. As soon as Diana saw this, her heart sank.
"A-a record stone. Lucius, h-how do you have one of those?"
Lucius didn't respond straight away. Instead, a vicious smirk crept up on his lips.
"It doesn't matter how I got this; what matters is what I do with it."
Hearing this, Diana couldn't help but gulp nervously.
"Diana Roffisier, the symbol of justice and integrity at Sanctuary... If I were to show this to the board of directors, how do you think they would react?"
Lucius had similar words to the two twins from the Montford family, but compared to them, Diana's situation was completely different.
The Montford children were known as troublemakers, delinquents, if you will. Although their negative actions were a bad look, everyone only saw them as typical, arrogant noble children. Unless they did something that crossed Sanctuary's bottom line, like assassinating a fellow student, their heroic bloodline gave them the status to walk around unimpeded. But Diana was completely different.
From birth, she was exceptional. Beautiful and stunning, yet also extremely talented and capable. In a way, she was the PR child of Sanctuary Academy, a descendant of one of the great hero families that also inherited a heroic talent. Yet, at the same time, she was the head of the disciplinary committee, policing arrogant nobles and fighting to ensure that commoners were treated equally on campus.
She was the literal perfect ideal representative of what Sanctuary was supposed to be.
At a time when the church was stoking faint fights against the current order, Diana was like an idol.
What would happen if this idol was caught lashing out in an outburst no different from all the other disgusting nobles?
Lucius knew that Diana really wasn't like that, but the world wouldn't know this. In their eyes, Diana would have been exposed. Not to mention that the biggest PR machine in the world currently, the Church of Light, was having a cold war with the hero families.
If such a hurtful piece of news was leaked, they would use it like a holy sword and deal a devastating blow to the hero family alliance. Their reputation wouldn't be able to recover for a while. The backlash would be brutal.
Diana saw the crystal in Lucius's hand and was already beginning to sweat. She couldn't believe that the thing in Lucius's hand was a real record stone. She was in complete denial. In other words, she was coping hard.
Diana was in denial, but it was also because of that she could also act rashly. She looked at Lucius and then at the record stone in his hand, and a terrifying aura burst out as she was about to act. Lucius's taunting voice sounded out.
Lucius just shook his head.
"Ah ah ah, I wouldn't make a move if I were you. This record stone is backed up to a magic cloud system. Even if you destroy this one, the image has already been sent across and stored. By now, I can create endless copies."
"You're lying!" snapped Diana.
"Try me," said Lucius calmly.
The more calm Lucius appeared, the more despairing Diana became.
She knew Lucius was a fierce person that wouldn't hesitate to bite back when placed in a corner. For Lucius to be this calm and nonchalant in front of her threats could only mean one thing.
She was royally fucked!
