Chapter 117 - Big Pack Of Seagulls
Chapter 117 - Big Pack Of Seagulls
Hunter World.
It was not only the name of the main Hunter Association's website but also the name of the only immersive VRMMORPG in the world that only Hunters knew about.
Hunter World was not simply just a VR game for Hunters to compete with each other, but to also interact and exchange information and goods of value, whether they are intangible or tangible.
To some Hunters, Hunter World can indeed be considered a second world for them outside of Earth.
Hunters making a living purely based on Hunter World alone was commonplace, and one such profession was news article writers.
Whether the information they feed to the Hunter World's media is true or false, anything goes as long as they get the views and money is involved—these days.
In Hunter World, Tork Sikman was one such writer who was both notorious and famous for targeting newly ascended newbies—especially ones that climbed undeservingly through backdoor means.
Ding!
Inside his private virtual home in Beginner's City, Tork Sikman received a notification on one of his six 30-inch screen monitors, showcasing a screen whenever new Hunters upgrade to level 2 access.
"Oh? Another newbie has ascended to level 2 access? Let me see which Hunter has ascended this time..." Tork immediately hopped on his PC and began taking a look at the recent list of ascended Hunters.
<12:08 AM: Lv.1 DontTouchMe has upgraded to access level 2>
<12:17 AM: Lv.1 LordGrimy has upgraded to access level 2>
<12:22 AM: Lv.1 3-SecondHero has upgraded to access level 2>
<12:35 AM: Lv.1 TheStrongestWizard has upgraded to access level 5>
"A level 1 account jumping straight to level 5? Is this magic?"
Tork rubbed his eyes, thinking they were playing tricks on him, before taking a more careful look at the screen.
"Oh, my god! A newbie did jump straight to level 5 access! This is a big scoop!" Tork's baggy eyes immediately lit up with fervor.
Although account access level did not represent a Hunter's status and background in Hunter World, it was a good indication of one.
"Must be another rich second-generation young master buying his way to the top through backdoor connections. Hmph, watch how I destroy you. Hunter World might be a game world, but it's not a playground for people like you." Tork snorted.
"5 minutes. No, 3 minutes! I must finish writing and publish within 3 minutes! New ascenders are always keen to entering Hunter World upon gaining access! I must be faster than the others!" Tork swore to himself with determination, readying his fingers to type at the speed of light.
Within moments, 3 minutes quickly passed, and a news article written by Tork Sikman was uploaded onto the Hunter World's website.
Ding!
All Hunters following the writer, Tork Sikmad, were immediately notified of the writer's new article, whether they were inside of the virtual space of Hunter World or outside in the real world.
"Oh, my. It's a new article by Tork. I wonder which newbie he is roasting this time," a male Hunter exclaimed after flipping out his phone.
"You're still following this person? He is a completely toxic writer. Nothing he writes is ever true."
Shortly after the female Hunter spoke beside the person, the male Hunter quickly retorted, "So what? It's interesting. Plus, it's completely free to read if you ignore the ads."
"Let see what Tork wrote this time."
"Fine."
...
=====
[TheStrongestWizard, a level 5 newbie ascender.]
A level 1 newbies ascending all the way to level 5? Who is this guy called the 'TheStrongestWizard,' hmm? Can you believe it? Can you accept it?
While everyone is toiling to increase their access level, this person uses backdoor connections to jump straight to level 5. Can this person be so shameless? This person is just a stinky poo brat with a lot of money.
Still, money is not enough to bribe a level 7 access user as we all know that level 7 users are admin users, even if they are the lowest level of admin users. He must have sucked a level 7 user's D or something.
You can tell just by this person's username that he is a crook with grand ambitions. He cannot withstand hardship and must rely on tricks to rise.
But while we, the Hunter community, frown upon these types of people and condone their actions, they also present us with an opportunity.
So what are you all waiting for? Scoring first blood on a level 5 user doesn't sound tempting enough? Quickly go find this person and challenge him!
=====
"Can this even be considered a news article? This is more like a rant containing a kill order!" the female Hunter was taken aback after reading before asking, "Where are you going?"
"Going home to hop on Hunter World to hunt this person called TheStrongestWizard. What else? This is easy fame," the male Hunter said, causing the female Hunter to roll her eyes.
"You rather chase after some empty fame than to hunt some real interdimensional creatures to become stronger? Whatever. Suit yourself."
"I will!"
At the same time, thousands of other Hunters had also read the article and rushed to Beginner City in Hunter World, camping the newbie login portal in waiting.
...
Meanwhile, Albion happily placed the full-dive VR helmet on his head and quickly login to Hunter World for the first time, utterly oblivious to what awaited him.
Ding!
<Synchronizing account ID to Hunter World>
<Synchronization complete. Welcome, Level 5 user>
<First login bonus: You have a one-time chance to alter your appearance. Do you wish to change? Y / N>
"No!" Albion spoke impatiently after being brought to a white space from the initial darkness.
Ding!
<Customization process complete>
<Welcome, TheStrongestWizard, to Hunter World>
<User will be transported to Beginner City promptly>
Shortly after, runic circles drew themselves on the ground, forming a magic circle after Albion before his virtual body turned into scattered particles and disappeared into a brilliant flash of white light.
In the next moment, the white brilliance fade before Albion found himself in a bustling modern city, entirely surrounded by people with ravenous eyes.
My! My! My!
Albion was flooded with many words of 'my' as the huge crowd acted like a pack of hungry seagulls, fighting to lay claims to their food, causing him to be stunned on the spot.
"My challenge! You must accept my challenge, Strongest Wizard!" One of the closest Hunters spoke clearly into Albion's ear.
'What the f*ck is going on here?' Albion cussed.
