Chapter 198 - Parasitic Insects
Chapter 198 - Parasitic Insects
Blackshore Caverns
Buzz!
Luther Krebs's smartphone vibrated before he took out the phone and read the message displayed on-screen.
[Recipient: Unknown]
[The entire Bloodmoon Gang in Silvercove city was decimated, including the four kings and Mr. Reiner.]
Luther Krebs's eyes flickered.
Shortly after putting away the phone, he made his way over to the storage center where the captured insects were kept and met up with William Seymour.
At the same time, William Seymour immediately noticed Luther Kreb's approaching figure before he turned his head and asked, "Do you need something, Mr. Luther?"
"I'm pretty sure that your mind has already been set, but I am going to ask anyway. Are you sure you want to kill all the insects? It wasn't easy to gather them, you know?" Luther Krebs stated.
"What's the point of capturing them, if not for killing them to grow stronger?" William Seymour slightly frowned and said, "I am not always at this secret base like you, Mr. Luther. I don't have the luxury to hunt insects whenever I please."
"What I'm trying to say is there's another method to grow stronger. However, I am not sure if you are interested in trying it out?" Luther Krebs said with a smile.
"Oh?" William Seymour was immediately intrigued by Luther Kreb's words before asking, "And what might that method be, I wonder?"
"It's simple, actually."
Luther Krebs smiled.
He walked over to a specific storage containment drawer by the corner of the room and pulled it open, revealing a different species of insects locked inside.
There were only six insects within the reinforced cage, but they all looked like a fusion between lobsters and centipedes—except green and smaller in size.
"You just to pick a suitable insect among these bad boys and let it parasitize you, Mr. William," Luther Krebs grinned.
William Seymour was startled.
The insect looked disgusting. There was no way he was going to put something like that inside him. Even the very thought of it disgusts him.
"I have no time for your jokes, Mr. Luther," William Seymour stated solemnly with a big frown.
"I am not joking," Luther Krebs stated firmly before further explaining, "Although I call it parasitizing, it's more like a symbiotic relationship between you and the insect."
"You ever wondered why the Apocalyse System never grants us EXP for killing fellow humans? It's because the system steals all of it for itself. However, with a symbiotic partner, you can reap all the EXP you've missed out on for killing humans."
"Not only that, you can still continue to gain EXP for killing insects and other interdimensional creatures. It's just that it will never be as lucrative as killing high-level hunters," Luther Krebs spoke seriously.
William Seymour studied Luther Kreb's expression seriously before he narrowed his eyes with a question, "How do you know so much about this? Don't tell you've already…"
"That's right. I have already fused with one. The stronger the insect grows, the stronger I will also grow," Luther Kreb admitted openly.
"Have you gone insane?! Do you even understand the risks of fusing with an unknown insect from another world!?" William Seymour reprimanded with a grave look before saying, "Can you still be considered human after fusing with an insect?!"
"Oh, don't worry. I understand the risks very well. There's always a price for obtaining strength, but it's a price I can afford," Luther Krebs stated coolly.
He gazed at William Seymour's repulsed look and casually said, "However, it seems that you aren't very willing to pay the same price as me and forgo your humanity."
"Hmph, of course not! Why the f*ck would I want such a disgusting thing inside me?" William Seymour snorted before shrugging Luther Krebs, "Alright, don't bother me. I'm going to kill the insects and power—"
Swish—!
Luther Krebs immediately launched a sneak attack on William Seymour's back but missed as William Seymour evaded the lethal blow aimed at his heart.
William Seymour's gazed quickly locked onto Luther Kreb's fiber-like claws as if his hand was a plant before he angrily snarled, "Are you crazy?! You dare try to kill me?!"
"If you're not with me, then you are against me. I only trust symbiotic people like me," Luther Krebs stated coolly and spat, "Since you won't become like me, then die!"
Bam!
Luther Krebs immediately stomped his feet on the ground and catapulted himself towards William Seymour.
His eyes glowed eerie greenness as his skin hardened like carapaces and his nails grew like sharpened tree roots.
Within a short instance, Luther Krebs looked anything but human.
William Seymour took Luther Kreb's blow head-on before his expression changed sharply in the instance he was overpowered and shot crashing into the earthen wall behind him!
Boom!
The earthen wall cracked under the impact!
However, William Seymour did not take significant damage and landed on the ground with his feet before glaring back at Luther Krebs.
"It seems that you are determined to get rid of me. Do you think my Bloodmoon Gang will let you get away with it?"
"Your Bloodmoon Gang?" Luther Krebs chuckled and said with disdain, "Isn't it just you and the few men you brought with you to the base left?"
"What do you mean?" William Seymour frowned.
"What do I mean? I mean that your Bloodmoon Gang is already finished! The entire force sent to Silvercove city got themselves wiped out, including your four kings! Hahaha!" Luther Krebs laughed and ridiculed him, "Alas, such is the price for underestimating your opponents!"
William Seymour froze.
Nevertheless, he quickly recovered and spat, "Impossible! You're just trying to shake me with your petty tricks!"
"Hah, you best know whether what I said is true or not! You're just in denial now," Luther Krebs snickered and said, "Your long-term reign over the cities has dulled your sharpness and left you outdated!"
"If you are not doing everything in your power to grow stronger, you will only be left behind! Nevertheless, the Bloodmoon Gang is still a bit useful for my Krebs family. As such, I've already found a suitable replacement after you're gone."
"You think the Bloodmoon can still function without me?" William Seymour gazed at Luther Krebs coldly.
"Of course, I do. The underworld gangs are like cancerous tumors. You cut off one head, and another will just take its place.. Your Bloodmoon Gang is no exception," Luther Krebs stated coolly.
