Chapter 141: The Secret of Secret Society

“You have a hypothesis?” Compass Carburettor became excited, “Please tell me.”

“Character-wise, you have a lot of similarities to our Great Emperor. So somehow, you might have attained that authority. Though, I believe the process involved in yours was amounted by a series of coincidences whose result happened to coincidently be the same.” Hekatra said.

Watching Compass Carburettor nod in response to her thoughts, she continued, “But, there is one difference between you and our Great Emperor.”

She pointed at his heart, saying, “It’s the fact that the body part of a System has fused into yours. Based on my understanding, a System is a container housing a certain concept. Yours was a similar container, but it didn’t hold any concept in it.”

“So, when I attained this authority, this concept was absorbed and stored in this vessel, manifesting it into a tangible state.” Compass Carburettor muttered.

“Indeed, if not for that, you would have been similar to our Great Emperor.” Hekatra said, “And unlike how this authority cannot be controlled by the Great Emperor, you can do it. Or rather, Secret Society is that. All your authority is condensed into that, so even if a normal human looks at you, they won’t feel anything.”

“In contrast, they would feel inclined to obey the Great Emperor’s words since he’s constantly emitting this authority?” Compass Carburettor muttered.

“That might be a possibility.” Hekatra nodded, “After all, even though such a long time had passed, our Great Emperor’s loyalty towards you is a perfect 10, right?”

“Indeed, I too have been surprised about it. At first, I just thought this was the limit to how loyal a person as powerful as him could be towards another. But no matter what, this number neither increased nor reduced.” Compass Carburettor said while frowning, “It had been puzzling me a lot.”

“We’ll be able to understand it more clearly once we consult the Great Emperor later,” Hekatra said.

‘But, if this conjecture is true, it means I’ll never be able to increase the number of Personal Fragments.’ Compass Carburettor sighed, ‘But still, I have some level of understanding as to what might have been the cause.’

‘Maybe such things might exist in other worlds too. And as long as I actively try to stumble upon them, the possibility indeed exists.’ Upon thinking that, he felt a bit happy, relieved that the guarantee of him saving Stencil was increasing.

‘The Money-Making System is related to monetary benefits. And just based on the number of Skills I possessed as a System Host, one thing is for sure. It’s rich, super-rich, as dictated by its name.’ He sighed, ‘So, killing it wouldn’t be easy.’

He then wondered, ‘But, why hadn’t it given me its Core Skill? I had obtained a bunch of Skills to help with everything. But, it makes no sense that it didn’t give me its Core Skill. What is the reason for this?”

He thought, failing to find an answer, finally deciding on his plan of action, ‘I’ll obtain versatile abilities so that I should be able to deal with any level of situation I face. Brute force is never an issue in most cases. So, I shouldn’t just pursue simple power.’

The group travelled through the Kuvert Dungeon, converting the citizens of the Great Megwest Empire into members of Secret Society. Hekatra did all the work while he and Duchess simply treated everything as a sight-seeing trip.

The Kuvert Dungeon had spectacular, over-the-top landscapes. So, it was incredibly fun to witness. And most of all, they were riding the Zekkens, not having to worry about anything that they would have to do had they taken flight using the Katia.

They travelled for two days constantly, arriving at Level 5 of the Kuvert Dungeon. At first, the Dungeon Boss tried to attack the intruders.

But, the moment it gazed at Hekatra, it paused in the air, stunned in response before gently arriving before her. Nothing surprising happened as Hekatra managed to make a member out of the Dungeon Boss.

What happened next was nothing unusual. Thanks to the Dungeon Boss’s orders, all the Zekkens submitted to them as Duchess, Compass Carburettor, and Hekatra jointly started to convert them en masse.

In a short week, they were done with the task. After that, the group of twelve rode on some Zekkens, exiting the Dungeon before heading towards the Third Jewel of the Great Megwest Empire—Havert Dungeon!

This was a marine-based Dungeon, with the Dungeon Monsters being marine organisms. The entire five Levels of Havert Dungeon was covered by water. This had once been the beating heart of the Great Megwest Empire.

After all, the Dungeon Monsters of the Havert Dungeon took care of all their food, water, and other needs. Each level had a radius of 1200 kilometres. There were five such Levels. And most of all, it was full of fresh water.

But, despite everything, they were Dungeon Monsters of a Level 5 Dungeon. So, it wasn’t easy to kill them. But unfortunately for them, the Great Megwest Empire had completely studied them, creating massive structures similar to dams in the waters, trapping the Dungeon Monsters within before ejecting out all the water.

And once the Dungeon Monsters died due to a lack of water, they were brought out to be exported as food.

Hekatra said while boasting, “We have hundreds of such farms situated all over Level 1. And that alone was enough to satisfy the food needs of the entire Great Empire. And in times of necessity, during a famine in other Kingdoms, we sent them food and water provisions.”

“It was no trouble at all.”

“But,” She sighed upon entering the Dungeon, “Unlike the Mohart and Kuvert Dungeon, the Dungeon Monsters at the Havert Dungeon have short lifespans, ranging between 60-90 years.”

“Alas, too much time had already passed.” She sighed, “I had hoped that wouldn’t be the case. But unfortunately, reality is often disappointing.”

She then looked at Compass Carburettor, “What do you say, Lord Spirit?”

“Their Dungeon Monster Forms are only useful while in water.” He sighed, deciding, “And at present, there is nothing for us to do underwater. So, let’s not make them members. There is no benefit in doing that.”
