“I’ve told him. I don’t want his stuff,” Cornelia said

The worker chuckled awkwardly. “This ain’t his stuff If you don’t believe me, you can open the boxes and see for yourself”

With a skeptical glance, Comelia opened one of the boxes. The clothes inside looked like what Patricia usually wore, the bores probably packed with all of Patricia’s belongings from Celestial Chateau It seemed like Marcus had gotten everything packed up and sent over early, he probably didn’t plan on letting Patricia return.

Not only was Marcus eager to kick Cornelia out, but he was also getting rid of Patricia who took care of him. Maybe he didn’t want his new lover to find any trace of Cornelia, his ex–wife, in the mansion

Cornelia moved aside. “Just put everything in the living room”

The two workers quickly moved the large boxes into the living room.

Patricia, busy in the kitchen, hadn’t seen the boxes yet. “Nelly, did you buy something?” she asked.

“No, it’s Marcus. He had your stuff sent over,” Cornelia replied.

“I see ” Patricia was silent for a moment before responding indifferently. She had thought as long as her things were still at Celestial Chateau, there was still a chance for Comelia to go back, a chance to salvage their marriage. Seemed like she was being too optimistic..

Marcus wasn’t acting on impulse. He really didn’t need Patricia anymore, the woman who had looked after him for over twenty years like her own son.

Cornelia quickly walked into the kitchen, “Patricia, let me help you with the noodles.”

Patricia had considered the Hartley family her own for many years. Now that she was suddenly kicked out, she must be feeling pretty down. Cornelia understood that, so she tried to distract Patricia

“Nelly, the Marcus I know wouldn’t do this,” Patricia said with a smile.

Cornelia paused, “Patricia, let’s not talk about him.”

“Alright, let’s not mention him anymore”

Working together, they quickly prepared pancakes. Each of them had a stack of pancakes, a cup of coffee, and a sandwich.

After the meal, they were both full. Cornelia let out a satisfied burp, which made Patricia laugh. But all of a sudden, Patricia burst into tears. “Nelly, you’re so good to me, yet Marcus chose to be with another woman. He really doesn’t know how lucky he was to have you.”

“Patricia, that’s life. People come and go. Marcus and I were just not meant to be. Let’s just let it go and move on.”

Cornelia quickly handed Patricia a tissue.

“Nelly…”

“Patricia, I know you’re still attached to the Hartleys, and to Marcus. But I also know you’re too proud to go back to him. So until you decide what to do, you can stay here as long as you want”

Cornelia’s words comforted Patricia. She wiped her tears away and said, “Nelly, thank you.”

“You don’t have to be so formal with me, Patricia.” Cornelia took out her phone, transferred $300 to Patricia, ‘I’ve sent you some money for living expenses. Check your

account.”

“Nelly, I have enough money to buy groceries. You don’t have to do this.”

“If you don’t accept it, how can I be at ease letting you help me with the cooking?”

and

In reality, Cornelia needed to pay Patricia a salary. But considering Patricia’s character, she might not accept it. So Cornelia planned to give her some extra money when she went back home. She definitely didn’t want Patricia to suffer any loss.

The next second, Patricia said, ‘Granny Luisa gave me a bank card. It has quite a bit of money in it for our living expenses and my salary”

Cornelia was taken aback, “Granny Luisa knows about the divorce?”

Patricia nodded, “Marc told her. She was furious and had to be sent to the hospital. But she still remembered to call me and ask me to take good care of you”
