Hannah stomped on Steven’s foot in fury, putting all her weight into it. The top of the foot was a tender spot, so it should’ve hurt like hell. But Steven didn’t even flinch, keeping his imposing presence all over her senses.
Lucas cracked a joke with a grin, “Steven, what’s the rush, man? There’s a room right over there. You guys wanna take this to the next level?”
It was just a joke, but it was like nails on a chalkboard to Hannah. In her mind, she was nothing more than a plaything for Steven in front of his buddies, something they could trample on without a second thought.
Hot tears welled up in Hannah’s eyes and slid down her cheeks. Steven, who was forcing a kiss on her, noticed and immediately let go, “What’s up?”
Hannah didn’t want him to see her crying, so she buried her face into his chest, wiping her tears on his shirt.
When she lifted her head again, her eyes were filled with smiles, “President Dixon, can we wrap this up now? If it’s okay, I’d like to have a word with President Hartley”
Steven squinted at her, puzzled.
Hannah simply ignored him and turned to Marcus, “President Hartley, you should spend more time with your wife. Can you give Cornelia a few days off, so she can hang out and have some fun with us?”

Rosie peered out the door. “Where’s your wife? Today is a gathering for you and your spouse, yet you’ve dragged Cornelia along, not giving her any personal time. That’s a bit much, don’t you think?”
Marcus reached out and took Cornelias hand, “Ladies and gentlemen, let me formally introduce to you my beautiful wife–Cornelia!”
Steven and Lucas had known Cornelia’s identity all along, but they still put on a surprised act, “Whoa, Marc! Cornelia is your wife?*
“You guys are terrible actors.” Marcus retorted.
Steven dropped his fake surprised expression and reached out to shake hands with Cornelia, “Mrs. Hartley, nice to meet you!”
“President Dixon, nice to meet you too!” Cornelia replied.
“Mrs. Hartley, pleasure’s all mine. Looking forward to working with you” Lucas chimed in.
“Likewise.” Cornelia responded.
The guys in the room had known about Cornelia’s identity, so when Marcus made the announcement, they weren’t exactly startled. But it was a different -story for the two ladies present.
Hannah and Rosie were dumbstruck, their mouths hanging open, unable to process Marcus’s words. After a moment, Hannah managed to find her voice, “President Hartley, what did you just say? Could you repeat that?”
Introducing his wife was something Marcus was proud of, so he repeated with joy, “My lovely wife, Cornelia!”
