Chapter 55 Dragon egg & Dandilion

At first, he got scared as he saw the red light below him. Xander could jump away as he was feeling more energetic than ever but he had a strange feeling about the red light that it... wouldn't harm him?!

[Congratulations. You have passed the challenges of the cave of Serebus. You have proven yourself worthy of the dragons' legacy. Despite low odds, you fought your way and survived all the tribulations in the cave.

Xander let out a deep breath as he saw the notification.

"It's over. Finally." Xander mumbled tiredly.

The cave of Serebus has been nothing but a nightmare. Always using one eye to watch the surroundings while sleeping, constantly being faced with strong creatures, and facing the deadly challenges of the cave.

If he was a normal person without an arcana they would've probably died. But his arcana was his only advantage in the caves and with it... he survived.

"We... we're really leaving. It's over." Hannah too was happy.

The alter that Xander picked opened like the others; like a book and the other three alters sank into the sandy ground.

Xander walked up to the altar and saw an oval-shaped, red rock that had several symbols on it.

"Is this...?" Xander was uncertain as he picked up the egg and held it close.

[You have received the legacy of the dragons. 'Son of Serebus.']

[You now have two missions.

1. Protect and feed the baby dragon till it evolves.

2. WIPE OUT THE SILVER APES!!

Rewards: Loyalty of the son of Serebus.... and exp. Nothing more.]

'Wipe out the silver apes...? That's...' Xander couldn't believe the system. Wiping out the silver apes would be hard.

He fought one, Satan, and it wasn't easy at all.

"What is it?"

Xander looked beside him and saw Hannah's eyes on the red egg.

"It's a dragon egg–"

*Crack!*

Xander dropped the egg as he saw a crack appear on it. It landed on the floor with a soft thud.

The egg cracked open and a creature emerged from it. It was a small dragon that was only twenty centimeters tall and fifty centimeters long.

Its eyes met Xander and it looked at him weirdly as if sizing him up. It then crawled towards him with unstable steps.

"Awwn~ it's so little." Hannah tried to pick it up but it snarled, startling her. "Bad dragon."

Xander saw it looking at him and he sighed as he picked it up and put the dragon on his shoulder. "Don't cause any trouble. Otherwise, I'll throw you off the mountain. You must be worth a lot of exp–"

"Xander..." Hannah had a bitter smile on her face.

"What? I'm not good with animals." He confessed.

Xander looked on his shoulder at the little red dragon that looked at him with its cute eyes.

"Alright. I won't throw you off the mountain." Xander said and as if understanding him, the baby dragon let out a purring sound.

Xander then looked towards Hannah with a smile.

"Let's get out of here."

Both of them walked towards the entrance of the cave but then... Xander's expression changed as he looked beside him to see the manticore.

'Even in death, it still looks scary.' Xander thought as he remembered the proverb or the advice he saw in the inscriptions.

'The manticore only eats scared prey. Hope whoever created it didn't expect me to stand still and let the manticore check me out.' Xander thought with a tired look.

He stretched his hand and the crimson flames of Primordial energy began to devour the manticore. Then a swirl of sand arose from the ground as Xander's pupils glowed crimson, looking fierce and scary.

The sandstorm died down to reveal a humanoid creature. It was a lion man who was a little bit taller than Xander and it looked at its body as it wondered how exactly he became like that.

"Stand."

A domineering voice resounded in the creature's ears and it stood straight with its eyes on Xander.

[You have created a new demon. 'Dandilion.']

[Demon name: none]

[Demon race: Dandilion]

[Demon level: 100 (max)]

[Description: Dandilions are fierce creatures of the demon beastkin race which have the ability of poison and fire.]

"Again. Extremely overpowered." Hannah said as she studied the new creature in front of them.

It has a lion's head with three tails with poison spikes. It was muscular and had the same golden eyes as the manticore and black horns. Its long fingers had black claws which had a subtle shine.

'It's claws are poisonous too.' Hannah thought as she turned to Xander and saw him with a hand on his chin. "You thinking of a name?"

"Yeah."

"Well. I have recommendations. The manticore likes to eat a lot so maybe... eater?" Hannah suggested.

"That's weird. I'll name him Beelzebub. The voracious demon." Xander had a devilish smirk on his face.

"Hmph. Eater sounds better. Isn't Beelzebub a said to be a demon from hell in the stories?" Hannah asked as they walked towards the entrance.

"Yeah. I'm naming my demons based off of that. If they know where their names come from, they'll be honoured."

Xander looked at the Dandilion with a sharp glare.

"Me and you will have a chat later." He said as he dismissed the demon into his soul space.

Xander caught up to Hannah and he looked at the entrance in front of him. He couldn't wait to reach it.

"Looks like you'll get to keep your promise to your sister." Xander smiled.

Hannah smiled happily as she looked at Xander.

"Yeah. If time in this place is the same outside then I have missed her concert already." Hannah sighed.

"Concert?" Xander looked at her.

"Yeah. My sister is quite famous. You may know her too, Montana Luna."

Xander gasped for air and he swallowed something by mistake. He began to cough fiercely until he coughed out a small fly.

"You little fucker." Xander closed his hand on the fly and a red light beamed out of the gaps in his hand.

He opened his palm to reveal the ashes of the fly and he blew them away angrily.

"Where was I? Oh... You're the sister of the celebrity singer?" Xander asked in disbelief.

"Yup." Hannah puffed out her chest as she thought that Xander would rain compliments on how pretty she and her sister were.

"Wow. That must be nice. I'm not a fan but my best friend Harry is a huge fan of your sister." Xander said with a smile.

'Honestly. I wasn't a fan of anyone. I just wished my life wasn't so scheduled. I don't even have time to go on the internet much.' Xander sighed at his thoughts.

"Is your friend as cool as you?" Hannah said, indirectly complimenting Xander.

"No. Not really. He's the playful and talkative type. I'm sure you'll like him."

"How can you be sure?"

Xander just smiled as he looked at her and said, "Birds of the same feathers... flock together."

Hannah gasped at his statement in disbelief, "Are you calling me a talkative?"

Xander and Hannah's laughs echoed in the cave. They even forgot that they almost died a few minutes ago and just laughed as they talked without fear of being attacked by a monster.

Soon, they walked out of the entrance and the wind graced their skin and they breathed non-cave air that they hadn't breathed in weeks.

The air wasn't polluted with fowl, monster breath but instead the scent of the trees closeby wafted past their nose.

The dragon on Xander's neck too fell asleep as it breathed the innocent air of the forest.

*Ding!*

[You have left the cave of Serebus and can now use life stones to go to the real world.]

Xander and Hannah both looked at the notification in front of them with joy-filled eyes.

"Are you going out immediately?" Xander asked as he looked at Hannah.

"Yeah. You?"

"I'll go too after I allocate my stat points," Xander said as he watched Hannah tap something and a blue light enveloped her and she shot into the sky like a star.

"She's finally gone. It's time to visit the silver apes." Xander said as he remembered that he had a mission to kill every single one.

His Mana was high but there's no harm in increasing it, he may want to do a mass creation of demons temporarily.

He put 100 points into Mana and then forty-five points into Strength and also forty-five points into Agility.

He then put the remaining thirty points into stamina as it almost let him down when fighting the minotaur.

Once satisfied with his stats he made his way to walk around the cave entrance to look for the silver apes' hideout.

"I don't even need to look for them." He said as he summoned Satan, the former silver ape.
