Chapter 264: Hit Me If You Can

Looking at Hailey. Doris said, “I know that Owen still falls for you. And so do you. I don’t know much of a

relationship, but what don’t you give him a chance as you two still have feelings for each other?” Doris knew

little about romance. In her opinion, a couple should be together when they had feelings for each other. And

they were supposed to break up when their affections faded. Doris joined the army at a young age and she

knew she would die at any time. Except for the responsibility she should take, she would try everything she

could to enjoy life. All that she wanted was to follow her heart and do whatever she preferred. However, Hailey didn’t fully agree on the thought of Doris. She chuckled, “You have never tasted the bitterness

of love. When you fall in love with someone, you will get to know it that it’s not black or white in the world of

love. The couple could enjoy a colorful life if they’re lucky enough. And they would have to endure a bleak life if

not.” Not a woman would leave if she wasn’t badly hurt. So was Hailey. She wouldn’t have divorced Owen to end

their relationship. As for her, when Owen asked for a divorce in front of her face, and she signed her name on

– the divorce paper, her affections for him in the past ten years had gone. And so had the previous Hailey.

Doris mulled over it. “I can’t get it for the time being, but I won’t persuade you into accepting my thought since !

don’t experience what you did. I’m sorry for what I said just now, and you can just forget it. I won’t mention it

anymore.” Doris proposed a toast to show her apology. Hailey clinked the glass of Doris with a smile, “I’ll let it

go.” Outside the restaurant, Jared was so black, “Haven’t they finished yet?” Jared couldn’t stand it anymore

and wanted to get off the car, but Owen grabbed him on his wrist. “Hey.” Turning back, Jared cast a cold glance

at Owen, “Let go of me.” Jared didn’t change his attitude towards Owen, though they were watching Hailey and

Doris through the window in the car for quite a while. That the two of them were together wasn’t a coincidence.

It was Owen who went to Jared for cooperation, since they two had the same goal that Hailey and Doris

shouldn’t always stay together.

It had been a few days that Hailey and Doris spent time together, which made Owen and Jared have no chance

to run their plans. For men, their biggest rivals might be the bosom friends of the girls they had a thing for.

Bosom friends spent time together, chatting or doing whatever they wanted, and they didn’t even want

boyfriends. This was the last thing Jared and Owen wanted to see, so they were killing themselves separating

Hailey and Doris. North City was Owens town after all, so he could easily locate Hailey and Doris. Otherwise, Jared wouldn’t have

promised to work with him. It was like a huge humiliation to Jared, though he had been going through

embarrassing moments that he had never experienced in his life before these days. After he announced the

identity of Doris, his wife-to-be, Brook and Hailey soon sold him out. The two of them exposed that Jared had a

thing for Doris in the chat group of their families. Brook: (Congratulations Jared, you’ve finally found the girl you love.

Kyle: What? Who is that girl?!

Hailey: (

We’re gonna have a sister-in-law?)

Kyle: (Really? Did the sun rise in the west today? Let me check.]

Randal: (Jared, congratulations. Could I ask who the girl is?]

Karl: (Tell us the truth.] Jared had intended not to reply any of the texts, but he couldn’t as Karl said something. Jared: (Well, I have a thing for a girl. And I’ll introduce her to you guys later. Brook: (Jared, when do you mean later? She has yet to promise to be your girlfriend, has she? Try harder, Jared.)

Jared: (Shut the hell up.)

Kyle: (Ha-ha… The girl has yet to promise? Then you have to try harder, Jared.]

Randal: [Is the girl Doris?) Hailey: [Yep. She beat Jared to cry when they were kids. Do you remember her?) Kyle: [Of course I do.) Randal: [I do wanna pretend to have forgotten her, but she’s so impressive. So, of course I remember her. Karl: [Ha-ha…) Jared: […] This must be the most embarrassing moment in his life. Owen loosened his grip on Jared and said to him. “What are you gonna say to them if you go in directly?” Jared

was kinda angry. “It’s none of your business.” “You’re right. But I know Hailey and Doris well. They will definitely

get irritated if they know we’re stalking them. And you want Doris to be your girlfriend? In your next life.” What

Owen said just now was like a killing move to Jared. He hesitated for a moment after swallowing. “I’ll be much

nicer to her if she gets angry at me for that. That would be better than watching them in the car without doing

anything. Right? If you really had got a good plan, you would have chased Hailey back long before. And you

wouldn’t have stayed with me in the car.”

Jared thought he would never be with Doris if he were to listen to Owen, so he got off the car. Mulling it over,

Owen thought Jared’s words made sense. He skipped a heartbeat when looking at Hailey who was smiling so

sweetly. Compared with looking at her in a long distance and being afraid of getting her angry. Owen thought he should spend more time with her even if he would irritate her. That would be way better than letting her get

over him entirely. So, Owen also got off the car and entered the restaurant with Jared. Hailey and Doris were

sitting by the window, and Hailey faced the gate of the restaurant. She saw Jared and Owen striding towards

them from a long distance and was kinda stunned.

As for Doris, who was with her back to the gate, she knew nothing and was enjoying the food. She swallowed a

slice of salmon and tilted her mouth due to mustard. “I’ve always wanted to ask you something. Was Jared

kicked by a donkey when he was a little boy? Or did I really hurt his head when we fought? Why do I always feel

that he’s gonna swallow me each time we meet?” Just as Doris finished her sentence, she found someone

behind her. “Who’s that?” And her wrist got grasped by someone as she was ready to defend herself. Turning

back, Doris met a pair of sharp eyes, not tender at all. However, when she found the person was Jared, her

panic faded immediately. “It’s you.”

Doris was so calm and didn’t feel sorry for saying anything against Jared behind his back. Neither did she feel

ashamed. Owen also stopped in front of them at that time. Hailey was still kinda surprised but she didn’t say

anything. Instead, she was wondering why Jared and Owen came together. Meanwhile, Jared was still holding

Doris’s wrist and started in a cold tone, “Were you scolding me behind my back?” “Well, you heard it?” Doris’s

beautiful eyes sparkled, and she said mischievously, “Yeah. I was scolding you, but I didn’t say it behind your

back. I can repeat it in your face. Well, are you angry at me? Beat me if you dare.” Jared was so speechless.
