Chapter 116: Finding clues of the past

EDEN ESTATE.

SAINT VILLA.

That night after August Maijune slept and woke up, Aaron Saint wasn't still back so she decided to use that time to search for clues about her past. She started with August Maijune's library. August pulled down all the books from the shelves and look through all of them. She scattered the books about sitting on the floor flipping through each book with seriousness.

After spending an hour in the library, August Maijune couldn't find a single clue to what she really wanted hence she went into the laboratory. She looked at all the specimens and mixtures in the bottles, read all the books and notes on the shelf.

''What exactly am I missing? I have the feeling I'm missing an important part of my life, though'' August Maijune kept questioning herself. She put the notes away and got down from the chair and her hand mistakenly hit one of the glass bottles and it fell and broke to pieces. August bent down and tried to pick the broken pieces and it cut through her hand and she hissed.

''What are you doing there?'' August looked up and heard Aaron's voice. He was standing outside looking at her. She didn't know when he had arrived.

Aaron saw the blood and quickly went to her side. He lifted her hand saying ''are you stupid? How can you pick broken pieces of glass with your hand? Come here''. Aaron pulled her to the sink and opened the tap helping her to wash her hand. When he finished he lifted her bridal style and walked out to the hall.

August watched as Aaron disinfected her cut and applied ointment on her all the while scolding her. ''What were you doing there all by yourself? What if the cut was deeper? Don't you know is dangerous to be in the laboratory without protection?''

''I wanted to find clues about my missing memory''. August said. Aaron put a band-aid on her finger and pulled her closer to his side.josei

''If you have any question, you can ask me? I know you are worried about the things you can't remember but I want you to know something. The things you couldn't remember? They are not so bad. The library, the laboratory and the gym are all yours. You asked for them and they're filled with the things you like the most. Later on, when your memories begin to come you will be able to appreciate them. For now, I don't want to see you stressing yourself over the past. Whatever happens, I will be with you all the way. We are in this together, August Maijune''. August looked at Aaron and smiled.

''Then, can I ask you something? Promise me you will tell me the truth''. August said looking at him.

''Yes, ask. I will tell you all you need to know''. Aaron tussled her hair.

''Was it really an accident that led me to be in coma for a year or was it something else? Today, we met your brother. He told me that you and everyone else was lying to me about my accident. Aaron Saint, did I by chance tried to kill myself?'' August asked unsettling. This question has been weighing her down for the past months and she didn't know what or how to feel about the answer. She was somewhat worried about it.

Aaron Saint watched August Maijune silently. Her expressions didn't go unnoticed by him. Her hands were clasped together yet she was shaking. Her body seemed tensed up and the look in her eyes told him that she was hoping it wasn't suicide but an accident.

''It was…an accident August Maijune. You lost your footing and felt from a tall building''. Aaron said looking at August. A weight seemed to have been lifted from August as she heaved a relief and leaned on Aaron's shoulders. She didn't seem like she was someone who would take her own life away that easily. That man was just spouting nonsense.

Aaron Saint relaxed after seeing that August had calmed down. He didn't think he had the courage to tell her everything. Sometimes he wished that she never remembered anything about the past and just be happy and carefree just like she has been recently.

''Then, the things in the laboratory and the gym. They belong to my other personalities? I mean, Mai and Maijune, I remember June spoke about them. Are they dangerous, I mean, are they related to the accident that I had. Falling from the tall building?''

''Yes, they are but, they aren't as harmful as you think. I think there is a diary that you all shared with each other. It should be in your room. If you read it, most of the questions that you have will be answered'' Aaron said to her.

August seemed to have remembered something and stretched her hand at Aaron saying ''my phone, is with you, right?''

''Oh, yes. I realised it was with me when I got to the office''. Aaron removed the phone from his pocket and gave it to her adding ''who asked you to be so stubborn this morning?''

August flushed as the memory of the morning came to mind. She took the phone and stood up saying ''I'm going to my room to take my bath''.

''Should we…bath together?'' Aaron asked making August to turn.

August looked at him and frowned saying ''were you always this shameless or are you a pervert? You're really making the pervert in me bounce back to life''. August said and ran to her room blushing. Aaron laughed and got up going to his room. He had to finish his surprise by the time August entered the room.

August Maijune finished taking her bath and changed into her loungewear and walked out of her room. She looked at the door of Aaron Saint and a thought crossed her mind so instead of entering the room she made a U-turn towards the kitchen. August opened the fridge and brought out a jug of milk and poured some into a mug and place the jug back before closing the fridge. She sent the glass of milk upstairs to Aaron's room. When she opened the door to go in, the room was pit dark as compared to the lighted space outside so she was confused and held unto the milk while calling Aaron's name ''Aaron Saint, where are you? Why is the room so dark?''

The light in the room suddenly came back on and August saw Aaron Saint standing by the switch but something else caught her attention. It was the state of the room which had somehow changed drastically. The bed was full of roses which were laid into a love shape and a small box was in the middle. At the bed's dashboard side, there was a writing on it in caps.

''What is all this, Aaron Saint?'' August asked nervously as she turned to look at Aaron. Aaron smiled and walked to her. He took the glass of milk from August and placed it on the table before leading her towards the bed saying ''I'm really not good at romance or making an elaborate proposal but I still wanted to do something for you, something that will make you understand my sincerity about you, August Maijune. About us and how much I care you''.

August Maijune stared at Aaron Saint feeling touched by everything he had done. Aaron held unto her hand turned her to face the bed saying ''I thought a lot about what to do and how to make this memorable. I know you are not someone who really fancies exquisite things so I thought I should make something simple that will stay between the two of us for eternity.

August Maijune, I know your path to rediscovering yourself and finding out who you are is still a long road ahead, but I want to walk that road with you. No matter what happens, I promise to never let go of your hand. I am a man who prefers to show his love with actions. I don't know of how to say sweet things to a man, but, I do know how to be a sweet man to a woman and I want to be that man to you. That is if only you allow me. I love you so much August Maijune irrespective of who you are. Will you be my girlfriend? I would ask you to marry me right away but I know you are still not ready to take that step yet, so how about we start with baby steps and get there at our own pace?"

August Maijune looked at Aaron flustered. She suddenly let go of his hand and walked to the table and picked the glass of milk. She gulped the entire glass down and heaved a relief making Aaron confused.

''Now I can breathe''. August said looking at the bed of roses.

''Were you holding in your breathe?'' Aaron asked and she nodded.

''You said a lot of things and it suddenly made my head empty yet full. I was flustered for a while and needed something to drink" August said.

''So, what is your answer?'' Aaron asked nervously. ''Do you accept or not? Listen, if you are not yet ready I can understand, I won't force you''. Aaron continued.
