Chapter 192: Family Dinner 2

August Maijune picked up her bag and turned to his student who was also her assistant saying, "Alex, is getting late, go home and rest. Let's do the final testing tomorrow before we hand it over to the packaging team''

''Yes, Professor. You must be hurrying home to meet your children'' Alex said and August Maijune nodded her head.

''Yes, I really missed those two. You should go home, you said your girlfriend was coming to you. Don't make a woman wait, it's bad manners''

''Yes, Professor Mai''

August Maijune smiled and left the laboratory. As she passed the design team department, the workers stood up to greet her and she dismissed them.

Walking out of the company, she turned and looked at the giant board that read 'Mai Cosmetics' and smiled proudly murmuring to herself ''we did it girls''.

Mai Cosmetics was the company August Maijune founded. In the company, they had the Mai team which were the group of researchers and scientists working for her including herself. She also had the June team which was known as the Design team in charge of the product design and other things. She also had the Maijune team which was the PR department.

Liyah and Leo's villa.

Today's family dinner was at Liyah and Leo's place. The monthly family dinner was rotational between the three big families. The last time was at Julieta and Kash's place and today, it was the time for Liyah to host the dinner.

It was also a special dinner because today, they all had their children with them. The dinner was also going to be a welcome dinner for Jade and Jayden who were back after completing their studies abroad.

At around 16:30PM, the girls all gathered at Liyah's place to help her with the preparation of the family dinner together with their mothers with an exception of AI Alice who was out on a peace mission.

Jade was the last to arrive and when she entered and saw Ever and Amber, she rushed forward and hugged them ''little sisters, big sister is back. Did you miss me?'' she asked them.

''We did, welcome Jade'' Amber said to her.

''Thanks Amber. Ever, are you not going to talk to me just because you broke up with my brother?'' Jade said and covered her mouth again mouthing ''I said the wrong thing again''

''Is not like that. You are welcome, Jade'' Ever said awkwardly.

''That's more like it. remember, we are friends before in laws. Here is a fun fact, I am on your side'' Jade said and Ever smiled.

''Thank you, Jade''

''What you doing? Are you peeling the inions or what?'' Jade asked as she sat by Amber. Jade had no talent in cooking. She would rather do the eating than the cooking.

''Jade, just sit and remain the face of our group. Ever and I will do the preparation'' Amber said as they chuckled.

''Really? Can I do that? You won't change your word when my mother arrives, right?'' Jade said warningly. If her mother saw that she wasn't helping, she was going to get a good scolding.

''We won't'' Amber assured her.

''Then, I'm going to search for some handsome men to ogle on in Instagram. Alert me when my mom is coming. Little sisters, this big sister is so glad to have you two girls'' Jade said and focused on her Instagram page, surfing for handsome men to ogle.

Ever stood up and went to wash the peeled onions before she cut them. all the while, glancing at the door every now and then. She was extremely nervous at the moment.

Liyah walked out of her room and saw all the girls at the table and smiled.

''Is good to see all of here at the same time'' Liyah said as she walked to them.

''Aunt Liyah, you are as sexy as ever'' Jade said, putting her phone down, she went and hugged Liyah.

''Jade, you always remind me of someone. Is good to have you back'' Liyah said remembering June.

''Thanks, I missed you and aunt Julieta the most'' Jade said as she went back to her seat.

''We missed you too. Julieta will be here soon. Ever, where did your mother run off too?'' Liyah asked.josei

''She went to pick dad from the hospital before they come here'' Ever answered as she removed the onion board to chop the onions.

''They are the sweetest couple after you and uncle Leo'' Jade commented.

''What about your parents?'' Liyah asked.

''My mom and dad. Asssh, they are the cheesiest couple I know. Always lovey dovey every time'' Jade said and heard her mother's voice at the door.

''Is something badmouthing me?'' August Maijune asked as she entered the house.

''Your precious daughter was'' Liyah said and Jade stood up, she went and hugged her mother.

''Mom, I didn't mean it in a demeaning way. I meant, you and dad have such amiable love relationship ever'' Jade said making everyone laugh.

''How was your flight?'' August asked Jade as she went to the kitchen.

''It was great''

''Ever dear'' August said and went to hug her after kissing Amber on her cheek.

''Aunt Mai'' Ever said fondly and smiled shyly.

''You look so beautiful, girl'' August complimented her.

''Mom, I told Ever to be my Instagram model but she refused. Saying all kinds of nonsense'' Jade said.

''Leave Ever alone. She doesn't want the attention unlike you who literally lives off on it'' August Maijune said.

''Ever, can you kindly make a cake for Jade and Jayden. As a welcome present? They just returned. They love your cake the most'' Liyah leaned by Ever and asked as she threw August a subtle look. They both really wanted to make this less tense before the boys arrived because they knew Jayden's character so well. He could explode like a volcano, the complete opposite of Everest.

Ever since their breakup, this was the first time they were going to eat together as a family and they couldn't help but feel worried about the two of them.

''Huh? You want me to make a cake for Jayden? He won't eat it if he knows I made it. I don't think is alright to waste the ingredients when it will be thrown away'' Ever said worriedly.

''Nobody is going to know if no one says it. That being said, Jade, you had better know how to speak tonight or I'm ceasing all your credit cards for a month'' August said the last part loud for Jade to hear.

''Don't worry, mom. I have a tight lid over my mouth. I will only be busy with the food, trust me''

''You know we can't really trust you the moment you tell us to trust you right, first cousin'' Amber said and Jade turned and looked at her.

''Amber, you are supposed to be my best friend. Remember, we are older than Ever''

''Is because we are best friends that I know you so well'' Amber added and August and Liyah chuckled.

''Okay, fine. I won't even cough. are we good?'' Jade said.

''Ever, I will have to trouble you with the cake then'' August said and patted Ever before joining Liyah.

Soon, Julieta arrived holding a bag of beer and entered.

''Hello everyone. Jady Jade, I see you'' Julieta said and Jade ran up to her.

''My favourite aunt has finally made an appearance. Everyone here was bullying me. I only have you on my side'' Jade said and took the bags from Julieta.

''Don't worry, aunt is here, no one will bully you again'' Julieta said and went to the kitchen. She kissed Amber's cheek before going to kiss her daughter and stopped in front of August and Liyah.

''I almost thought you were going to kiss every one of us in here'' Liyah said.

''Big sis, I only kiss beautiful little girls'' Julieta said and they laughed.

''What are we making sweetheart?'' Julieta asked Ever.

''I'm making walnut cake for Jade and Jay…den'' Ever said and Julieta smiled.

''Good girl, mom is proud of you. What are we preparing today and who is in charge of what big sis?'' Julieta asked Liyah.

''Beef mince rice paper rolls by our little Miss Amber, pizza lasagne and walnut cake by our very own patissiere, Ever, smoky chicken with charred-corn salad by you. Pork chops and Garlicky Tomatoes with Parmesan Polenta by me'' Liyah counted the dishes.

''What about me? I can make fruits salad'' Jade said.

''No. Someone almost turned me into a murderer years ago because I trusted her with my fruits. Is not happening again'' Liyah said and looked at August Maijune remembering his housewarming party when August ate all the fruits.

'"Big sis, come on'' August said.

''Jade, you can take care of the cleaning when we are done. Start setting the table, Jade'' Liyah said.

''Alright'' Jade nodded and went back to her phone, knowing in her heart she was going to bribe Channing into helping her out.

Soon, everyone started with their own work, working busily. Jade got up and cleaned the table and started setting it up. She brought out the various cutlery they needed based on the dishes that were been prepared. Together, everyone worked hard to make the family dinner a memorable one as they always did.
