Chapter 230: Giving the 'talk'

That night.

''Huh? Ever and Jayden are dating?''

''Lower your voice, darling'' Kash covered Julieta's mouth with his hand.

After everyone left and they returned to their bedroom, he told her what he saw.

''Since when? No, how did you find out? Did Ever tell you that?''

''Do you think she would tell me? Aaron and I saw them… they were kissing''

''They are finally dating? I was wondering when that was ever going to happen. Our daughter took the bold step in making that boy hers''

''What are you talking about? Did you know about this for long?'' Kash asked.

''Well, not exactly but I had a feeling that those two had a thing for each other. Jayden agreed to tutor our daughter without asking for anything in return. Every day, he spends his time trying to make sure she understood whatever she is taught in class. I wonder why it took you so long to notice that he liked our daughter. But, aren't they moving rather fast? Anyways, a kiss is just a kiss''

''Jules, today they are kissing. What if they decide to go further next time?''

''Aren't you the one getting further before that even happened? Honey, our children are so intelligent and wise. They won't do anything they are not supposed to do. Relax and allow the kids to date. I am happy she is with Jayden. He is trustworthy''

''How can you trust him? He is a man''

''Kash, don't you think you are being a little biased towards Jayden? He is a good kid''

''We have to ask Ever to be careful. I will get her a box of contraceptives and give her the 'talk''

''Kash, no. I forbid you from doing that''

''Why? She needs to know about sex''

''Which I already did when she clocked 14 years. We have to trust the kids. Contraceptives? Hell no, Kash''

''I can only be rest assured if she is well protected''

''You mean if she doesn't get pregnant and drop out of school? Kash, are you even listening to yourself? You are a doctor; I am a biochemist. We have taught Ever to be a good kid since childhood. If she has gotten a boyfriend, instead of acting so hysterical, why don't we support her instead. That way, she wouldn't hide anything from us in the future''

''Jules, I want you to find out from her when they started dating and how far they have gone. If you don't get her to give you those answers, I am having the 'talk' and this time not with Ever alone but with Jayden''

''Okay, fine. If my father was so strict, would you have slept with me before marriage?'' Julieta murmured.

''You were old that time and could make decisions on your own. Ever is just 16 and Jayden is 17. They are both kids''

''Okay, fine. We will talk about this during breakfast tomorrow''

The next day.

Ever came out of her room with backpack behind her. She placed it on the sofa and went to join her parents and younger brother on the table.

''Mom, dad, good morning'' she greeted them and sat beside Cody. ''Cody, how are you today?

''you never ask me how I'm doing. Sis, you look so happy this morning''

''I am happy and I can't wait to go to school''

While Ever and Cody were chatting, Kash and Julieta were exchanging looks.

''Ask her now'' Kash mouthed a question.

''Let her finish eating first'' Julieta shook her head.

''If you don't ask I, I will'' Kash threatened.

''Honey, did something good happen lately? You look so happy'' Julieta stepped up.

''Mom, I finally made up with my classmates. They apologised to me. I think my best days at school have just began''

''Is that all?'' Kash asked and Julieta stomped on his foot under the table.

''What?'' he mouthed.

''I told you to let me handle it'' Julieta frowned at him and turned back to Ever 'Ever dear''

''Yes, mom'' Ever started eating her breakfast.

''Is there something you want to share with us? Maybe something that happened recently that we are not aware of or maybe what you are up to recently? Anything, we are ready to hear you out''

Ever looked at and saw their expectant gazes and was puzzled. She contemplated for a while before shaking her head, ''there is nothing apart from what I just told you'' she said and they sighed frustrated.

''Mom, dad. When you are asking big sis a question, you should be specific and stop beating around the bush. With her IQ, she will never get what you mean''

''Hey, Cody. Did you just call me dumb?''

''No, I just said you have a low IQ, I never said you were dumb''

''Don't they mean the same thing? Mom, dad, he just called me dumb''

''Cody, apologise to your sister'' Kash gave the boy a warning glare.

''I'm sorry sis''

''He isn't even sincere with his words. I just lost my appetite. I'm going to school'' Ever stood up and picked her backpack.

''Honey, wait. You didn't finish your food'' Julieta folded an omelette unto a fork and chased after Ever.

''Mom''

''I apologise on his behalf. Don't mind him, I will give him less pocket money today'' she coaxed Ever into eating the rolled omelette as she said.

''He needs money since his school is a boarding school. I forgive him''

''My daughter is such a kind girl. Mommy is proud of you. I will buy you a gift later on today''

''Okay''

''Ever, wait. Invite Jayden over today'' Kash said as he walked to them.

''Why?''

''Why?'' both Ever and Julieta asked.josei

''I want to thank him for always tutoring you''

''You don't have to do that, dad. I will convene your feelings though. I really have to go, bye'' she said and ran off out of the hall.

''That's what you get for interfering. I told you to let me handle this''

''You didn't handle it well as far as I can see''

''You could have just asked her straight, 'Ever, are you dating Jayden?', and she would have told you the truth. I am ashamed to be the only one with good social skills in this house. I'm going to school'' Cody said and went out leaving his parents.

''Did that boy just call us dumb?'' Kash turned and looked at Julieta.

''I think so'' Julieta nodded her head.

''I'm cutting down on his allowance''

''That boy called me dumb'' Ever complained as she ate her lunch with Jayden behind the school's library.

''You are not dumb. You are my Ever''

''Such a sweet talker. Right, my father asked me to invite you over. He said he wanted to thank you for tutoring me. But, I told him he didn't need to''

''Do you think he knows we are dating?''

''No, he doesn't''

''Ever, I think we should tell them. Your parents and mine. What if they catch us one day? We can't keep hiding this from them''

''But, we just started dating, I don't want your parents to think I am distracting you from studies. If the students find out we are dating, everyone is going to think that I seduced you. let's just keep it away from everyone for the meantime''

''Okay'' he said softly.

''Are you angry with me?''

''Oh, I am angry with you. I want to announce to everyone that we are dating but I don't know why you keep insisting that we don't. I will just respect your decision though''

''Okay, how about we test the waters by telling the others? At least, they are the closest to us''

''Will you be okay with that? You don't have to do it for me. I want what will make you happy''

''Let's tell them'' she said determinedly.

After closing, they gather the other at the rooftop to share the news with them.

''You guys are making my ears etch already. What big news do you two have to share with us?'' Jade asked as she sat down.

''We just got here, relax. Amber is still on her way'' Channing berated her.

''You are always thinking about only Amber. Why don't you just confess to her already?''

''Jade, mind your own business'' Jayden warned her. Channing's crush on Amber was something they all knew but since he didn't want to talk about it, they didn't have the right to mock him either.

''I'm here, sorry. Miss Gates didn't want to leave us alone. I swear that woman taking over last period is the death of me'' Amber said panting for breath.

''I have water here, want some?'' Channing removed a bottle of water from his bag for her.

''Thanks Channing''

''So, Amber is here. What news do you have to share with us?'' Jade asked Ever and Jayden.

''We are dating. Ever and I'' Jayden said and the place turned quiet.

''You are dating? You and Ever?'' Jade asked.

''Oh, we wanted to tell you guys first''

''Our parents don't know, so you have to keep it to yourselves for now'' Jayden added.

''Congrats, I always knew you two would end up together'' Amber said and hugged Ever.

''Who would have thought you would be the first to date? But, I am happy for you, Jay. Ever is perfect for you''

''You guys don't find anything wrong with us?'' Ever asked.

''Were you expecting us to be against?'' Channing asked and Ever should her head.

''But, the real headache isn't us. Will uncle Kash approve of it?'' Jade folded her arms with a smirk.

''He will. He will have to give in to me''

''I will make sure I get his approval'' Jayden added.
