Chapter 235: Seeing him in a new light 2

Amber sat up on her bed and sighed. Her mind kept replaying the question Channing asked her that afternoon.

''Aye, what is wrong with me? Why do I keep think about such nonsense?''

She got down from the bed and went to the hall and saw her mother watching TV.

''Mom''

''Amber, I thought you were sleeping?'' Alice asked her.

''I can't sleep. Mom, can I ask you something?''

''Sure, sit down'' she patted on the space next to her and shifted back a little for Amber to sit.

''Mom, what do you think the chances are for friends to turn to lovers?''

''Friends to lovers? That's an interesting question. Does my Amber have someone like that in her life? Is he someone that I know?'' Alice asked curiously.

''Well, not really. Let's not talk about this, I was just flustered for a moment. I will handle it''

''Sure, I trust my girl''

''Mom, I'm going back to sleep. Don't stay up too later''

''Okay, I won't. have a good night darling'' Alice smiled watching Amber retreat back to her room. It seemed her daughter was taking a fancy to someone. She was curious to know who this person was.

Amber woke up the following morning with rashes on her face, she looked at herself and became horrified and screamed running out of her room. She found her mother setting breakfast on the table.

''Mom!!!'' she screamed and went over to Alice.

''Amber, what's wrong?'' Alice looked at her face and her eyes bulged out, ''Amber, what happened to your face?''

''I don't know mom, I woke up and saw this'' her face was rough and red rashes appeared on every side.

''This looks like an allergy reaction. Did you eat something bad yesterday?''

''No, I didn't eat anything''

''Let's go to the hospital first'' Alice said and put the gloves in her hands down.

''I will go and change'' Amber said and went inside to change.

Kash looked at Amber's face for a while and asked her, ''did you change your makeup?''

''My makeup? No, it's the same brand from Aunt Mai's company that we all use''

''This is a common reaction from either a change in makeup or a chemical added to your makeup but we will find out after we send the makeup for testing. Did you bring the makeup you used yesterday?''

''Yes, it's in my bag. Uncle Kash, what will happen to my beautiful face now? Will I get disfigured?''

''No, you won't. I will prescribe some medicine for you to take, but when the results are out, we will know what to do. this isn't a simple situation Amber; you should be careful. Did you provoke someone recently? It seemed someone switched your makeup''

''I…''Amber's mind went to the other day, she had gone to the washroom and had bumped into a woman who had the same makeup kit like her but she didn't understand why she would do that. They didn't know each other, at least, she didn't know her from anywhere.

''Do you remember anything?''

''Yes, but I'm not sure why that person would do that. I don't even know her'' Amber was confused.

''Looks like someone wants to mess with you'' Kash chuckled.

''Then, they picked the wrong person to mess with, don't you think so, uncle Kash?''

''I know, right? A vengeful person like you won't let this go, right?''

''Off course'' Amber smirked and took out her phone to call Jade, ''Jade wake up''

''What is it, Amber?'' Jade's sleepy voice made Kash to smile and shake his head.

''Someone tried to harm my face''

''F**k!! Who tried to harm the only thing going well with you?''

''What a friend you are. In any case, I need you to help me track someone down''

''That's Brave's job, I ain't no detective Conan''

''I'm serious, Jade. Someone is messing with me''

''Tell me what I need to do''

Amber quickly explained the situation on the phone and made plans to meet with Jade later after the hospital visit.

''Bye'' she hung up and looked at Kash and smiled.

Sitting in Amber's care in front of the hotel they attended the get together, Jade turned to Ever and Amber, ''do you think we will be able to find the person who did that to you?''

''We will check the CCTV cameras. I'm sure we will find her'' Amber said. She had wrapped a stylist scarf around her face.

''If we go alone, it might be hard to get them to release the footage, we need to call Jayden or Channing'' Ever said and Jade nodded her head.

''Let's call Jayden'' Amber said and they turned to look at her.

''Usually, you would call Channing, why are you suddenly asking for Jayden?'' Jade asked.

''Nothing, they are all the same, right?'' Amber said nervously.

''No, they aren't'' Jade and Ever answered.

''Spit it out, did something happen between the two of you?'' Jade asked.

''Nothing happened between us''

''I'm calling Channing'' Jade removed her phone and Amber snatched it from her.

''I don't know, I just suddenly feel weird thinking about him'' she finished and Jade and Ever exchanged glances and smiled.

''I guess he made improvement this time, seeing the way you are acting already?'' Jade teased.

''What do you mean?'' Amber turned to look at her.

''Amber, you have such low self-awareness. How could you not have known all these years that Channing likes you?''

''I can't believe you have been clueless about his feelings all these years'' Ever added.

''I…'' she didn't know what to say because she was overwhelmed by the entire situation. She had always seen him as a friend, someone who was always there for her all the time.

''It's alright. no need to be so overwhelmed. Channing didn't want you to know about his feelings because he didn't want you to distance yourself from him. Just pretend you still aren't away and be normal around him. This kind of situation, the person you would call is Channing, so we will call him, if not, he is going to find out that you know about his feelings. If you don't have the intention of accepting him, you should just pretend you don't know anything'' Jade patted Amber's shoulder softly and added, ''on that note, let's go and see who had a grudge against your pretty face''

The trio got down and went inside the hotel. They asked to meet the manager of the hotel and were soon directed to his office.

After explaining their reason for coming, the manage was still sceptical about them, after all, it had to do with the reputation of his hotel.

''I know you are afraid that word will get out about what happened, but we can assure you, we just want to know who switched her makeup. We will make sure your hotel is not affected by any of this'' Jade tried to pursued the adamant manager.

''I'm sorry, without a police warrant, we cannot release the footage of the hotel to anyone'' the manager said as a matter of fact.

''I guess we can only solve this through the old fashion way'' Ever removed her phone and called Jayden in front of the manager. ''Jayden, I need your help with something'' she passed the phone over to the manager who took it after hesitating for a while.

A few moments later, he smiled and handed the phone over to Ever saying, ''I will arrange for you to have a copy of the footage before you leave'' he said with a forced smile.

''Thank you''

''That wasn't so hard, Ever, go going. I didn't know you and Jayden had advanced so much in your relationship?'' Amber said.

''We are not like that yet''

''What are you then?'' Jade asked.

''We are just testing the waters. Nothing is certain yet, but, someone amongst us is definitely going to have to explain to another person'' Ever pointed at the roadside and they turned and saw Channing standing by his car with his hands tucked into his pockets.

''How did he know we were here?'' Amber asked and looked at Jade and Ever.

''You two were going to be meet sooner or later. I have work to do and Ever needs to get back to work. I asked him to help out'' Jade replied.

''You, traitor''

''I accept it!! but, sis, you need to face him one way of the other. Isn't it better to do it now than later? Remember, don't disclose the fact that you know about his feelings unless you are ready to accept them''

Ever and Jade went ahead and chatted small with Channing before hailing a taxi leaving Amber alone with him. She walked closer to him and fondled with the hem of her shirt suddenly feeling shy as her ears turned red.

''Let me look at your face?'' Channing said and took a step closer. Amber blushed and bit her lips. She didn't know why she was suddenly feeling this way but her heartbeat quickened.
