Chapter 236: Camping 1

''Let me look at your face?'' Channing said and took a step closer. Amber blushed and bit her lips. She didn't know why she was suddenly feeling this way but her heartbeat quickened. 'This is bad, how did your face suddenly become this way?''

''Is it that bad?''

''Have you visited the dermatologist?''

''Uncle Kash said it will be fine as long as I avoid direct contact with the sun for a while. I already got the footage. We will be able to find that woman very soon''

''Don't worry about that. I will take care of it. Get in, have you eaten anything yet?''

''I had something little but I really don't have appetite after seeing my face like this. Thank God I don't have a case this week. I wouldn't know what to do'' she said every word out like a dissatisfied kid which made Channing laughed. He found her actions quite cute but still he felt that something was off about her today.

''It's alright, you will be fine. I will take you somewhere to eat'' he opened the door for her and she went inside but her eyes still followed him everywhere he went till he got inside the car and started it.

''Channing… actually I…'' she stopped herself.

''What do you want to say?'' Channing asked as he drove away.

''Nothing'' she shook her head, remembering what Jade told her. She didn't even know anything about her current feelings. What was she going to do, asking him about it?

''Amber, I feel that you are acting strange today. Is there anything I need to know? You are hiding something from me, right?''

''No, I am not''

''Anyways, Jayden told me they found the camping place for us and that we will leave next tomorrow. Are you prepared for it?''

''Pre…prepared for what?'' she stuttered.

''What are you thinking about Amber? I mean are you prepared for the camping experience? We haven't gone to camping for a long time'' he said and chuckled.

''Oh, that. I am prepared''

''I see'' he didn't say anything else and drove away but he made a mental note to force whatever she was hiding out of her before the day was over.

Ever arrived at the hotel and quickly changed into her Uniform ready to go to the kitchen when the door opened and Jayden walked in startling her.

''Jayden, what are you doing here?'' She asked, buttoning her top button fast.

''Sorry, I didn't know you were inside. I wanted to sneak in and put this on the table, but you caught me'' he said showing her the flowers in his hands.

''Flowers? Why are you giving me flowers this morning?''

''You finally called me first when you needed help. It shows your trust in me'' he said and stepped closer to her.

''Stay back. I only called you because I had no other choice. This is my office, what are you doing, Jayden?''

''Trying to make you realise that apart from me, there is no one else for you''

''This is crazy, you are crazy. Jayden, you are the manager of this place. What do you think the workers would say if they see you acting this way?'' she said as he cornered her between the desk.

''Go on a date with me''

''No''

''Are you playing hard to get?''

''Yes, that is your punishment for keeping Ann by your side more than necessary''

''Ann again. When are you going to stop mentioning that woman's name?''

''Are you angry?'' she asked looking at his gloomy face.josei

''Yes, I feel that you don't trust me enough to give me a second chance''

''That's not what I meant. I was just joking with you''

''Really? Then, I have to make you pay for messing with me'' he said and leaned in closer to her face.

''You… what are you doing?''

'Do you know what I dream about the most lately?'' he asked as he stared at her lips.

''What do you dream about?''

''Kissing you?''

''Huh? You…''

''Ever, I love you. and I'm not just saying this because of the moment, but I've loved only you since I knew the meaning of the word love. You are the first woman I have ever desired and will always desire. We have been apart for so long due to the misunderstanding but now that all that is cleared, I want to know something. Do you really not love me again? I will stop disturbing you if you just say the word. I don't want to waste another day without you in my life''

''Ever, I can't guarantee that there will be misunderstandings and arguments on the road but I promise that I will be honest with you in everything and won't allow you feel insecure in any way possible''

''Jayden… I'' he interrupted her again.

''Jayden, let me speak first'' she said to him.

''Okay, go ahead''

''I have never loved another man like the way I loved you. You were my first and I don't intend to love another man apart from you''

''What do you mean?''

''What I mean is, I also love you''

''Yes, really''

''Ever'' he pulled her closer to himself and kissed her.

''Jayden, we are in the office'' she tried to stop him.

''I am the boss'' he said and went to lock the door, putting the keys in his pocket, ''no one will disturb us. I have to make up for all the years I didn't get to kiss you'' he said and started kissing her again.

Jade got down from her car and saw Alex waiting outside his new home. He had his hands tucked into his side pockets as he smiled at her.

''You are here?''

''Yes, it's this the place?''

''Yes, my new apartment. Did it take you long to find this place? I could have come to pick you up'' he said, turning to walk into the two-bedroom flat.

''It didn't take me time to find this place. My GPS is quite good. This place doesn't look bad''

Alex opened the door and they went inside. Seeing the almost vacant space, Jade smiled, ''this place really does need some work''

''So, how long do you think it will take to finish this place?''

''How fast do you want it?''

''I don't want to pressure you; you can take your time''

''Where do you stay at the moment?''

''Saint hotel. They have good services there''

''Off course, my brother is doing a good job''

''So, how long will this take?''

''Let's see, perhaps a week or two because I still to finish with the couple's home first. How do you want this place to be? Do you have any particular taste, in colours and design?''

''Surprise me''

''I should surprise you? What if you end up not liking my taste and preference? I am not the one who is going to be staying here. besides, when you get a new girlfriend, she might not like how I designed the house''

''The woman I will call my girlfriend will definitely like it, so design it as you please'' he said with an underlining meaning but Jade didn't catch up to it.

''Yes!!'' she turned to face him.

''You have something in your hair'' he said and stepped closer to her. Jade blushed and tried to move back but he held her shoulder in place saying, ''don't move about''

''Oh'' Jade inhaled his masculine scent and felt her face getting hot. What was wrong with her? She couldn't be distracted by him right?

''Here, this was in your hair'' he showed her a small wool-like piece of thread.

''That must be from the scarf Amber put on. My cousins and I went somewhere this morning'' she stepped back and went into one of the bedrooms and Alex joined her.

''This is the master bedroom'' he said to her.

''I see. I will give you a list of things to buy for me. I still don't have an assistant, so you will have to help me out. I will give you a discount'' she removed her journal and started writing down some things, her expression turned serious.

Alex watched her curiously and smiled. He leaned against the door and stared at her face.

''Here'' Jade looked up and met his eyes, 'why are you looking at me like that?''

''I was just wondering, how someone can be so smart and good at everything''

''Are you complimenting me?''

''Yes, I am. The more I get to know you the more I feel that there is just something fascinating about you. You are different. The first impressions you give people is always like that of a rich brat but you are actually hard working and don't depend on the success of your parents''

''En, if you keep complimenting me like that, I would think that you like me''

''Can't I?''

''No, you can't''

''Why?'' he stepped closer to her.

''Because I don't want to be your rebound. You still haven't forgotten of your ex-girlfriend and I don't want to be her replacement''

''What if you aren't her replacement''

''I think being friends is already good enough. Let's not complicate things''
