Chapter 18 CH: 18
?Vincent's phone rang, interrupting his meal. He picked it up and answered, only to hear the sadness in Vanessa's voice.
"Vincent, are you free today?" she asked.
Her tone was off, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of worry wash over him. "What's wrong, Vanessa?"
"I'm here outside your penthouse. Can you come over?" she begged him. She was clearly under a lot of stress.
"Wait for me "
He quickly finished his meal and changed into a more casual attire - a white Supreme T-shirt, black pants, and a pair of white Jordan sneakers. He rushed down the elevator and headed to Nathan's garage, where he hopped into his red Ferrari.
As he sped towards his penthouse, Vincent couldn't help but wonder what could be troubling her.
He rushed into the elevator and made his way up to his penthouse. As he approached his door, he saw her sitting in front of it, her face hidden by her arm.
"Vanessa?" he called out, causing her to raise her head.
What he saw next shook him to his core. Vanessa's beautiful face was marred with bruises and cuts.
"Who the hell did this to you?" he ran forward and wrapped his arms around her, holding her close.
"Vincent!" Vanessa hugged him back tightly, her body shaking with sobs. The floodgates of her emotions had opened the moment she saw him, and it was as if she knew that it was okay to be vulnerable now.
"It's ok, I'm here now " Vincent's heart ached at the sight of her in so much pain.
"Let's get inside first " he led her inside the penthouse and sat her down in the living room.
He gave her some painkillers and waited for her to settle down before gently asking, "Who did this to you?"
Vanessa remained silent, clearly traumatized and afraid to speak the name of her abuser. He stayed calm, knowing that getting angry wouldn't solve the situation.
"Is it your boyfriend?" he asked, hoping to get some clarity.
Vanessa didn't respond, her tears continuing to flow. Vincent held her hands gently and asked, "Why are you sacrificing your life and happiness for that jerk?"
Vanessa's warm skin was soft against his hands, and he could feel the depth of her pain.
"I need to. I can't leave Douglas, or my whole family will be in danger," she sobbed.
Vincent's heart ached once again at the sound of her cries. He had never felt so helpless in his life.
"I'll help you," Vincent said, hoping to reassure her.
But Vanessa shook her head, smiling sadly and without a hope "You can't help me. No one can. Douglas is from a family that runs an underground syndicate in the country. Even the government can't touch them."
He was stunned. The idea of dealing with a powerful syndicate was beyond him. Even Nathan, with all his wealth and connections, would be powerless against them.
"Don't worry, Vincent. I don't expect you to do anything for me. I don't want you to get hurt," Vanessa said softly, raising her arm to touch his cheek.
"I love you, Vincent." She kissed him, and he tasted the metallic tang of blood on her lips. He was surprised to find that he enjoyed the taste, so he kissed her back with a newfound intensity.
As he indulged in his desires, Vincent felt a strange sensation in his mind, like something was being triggered deep within him. He couldn't explain it, but he knew that things would never be the same again.
His mind was suddenly overtaken by a dream. It was a dream that he hadn't had since he fully recovered from his coma. This time, it was more vivid than ever before. He found himself in a medieval-looking room, feeling as though he was really there. And unlike before, he felt that his body was smaller than he remembered.
A sweet female voice whispered in his ear from behind him.
"Fenrir, did you enjoy it?" The woman's touch was so real that Vincent could feel her soft skin and warmth.
"Elizabeth, I finished my part of the deal. You need to tell me the secret to unlocking more of my potential," Fenrir replied in a cold tone.
"You're too hasty, Fenrir. Our deal was for me to bear your child," Elizabeth teased him with a seductive voice.
Fenrir snapped and pulled her hands so she could face him. Elizabeth's beauty was otherworldly; her white hair and red eyes, perfect facial features and body, were something out of a fantasy. Even the prettiest Hollywood star would pale in comparison. Her face and body seemed to be molded by the gods themselves.
"Tell me the truth," Fenrir growled.
"My beloved Fenrir, do you know why you crave meat and blood, but it only sates your hunger and doesn't give you power?" Elizabeth asked.
"What do you mean? Only vampires like you get more powerful by drinking blood," Fenrir pointed out.
"That's right, vampires like me drink blood to get more powerful, but we also need it to survive. While in your case, any meat would do as long as it sates your hunger," Elizabeth explained.
Fenrir was confused. "I don't get it. All werewolves are like that."
"Don't worry, Fenrir. I know you're not smart enough to figure that out on your own. But I'll explain it to you if you satisfy me for another 10 rounds," Elizabeth teased.
"Stop playing around and just tell me," Fenrir protested.
"Alright," she giggled. "You're the first of your kind, Fenrir. And to be honest, I don't know how you came to exist. But one thing is for sure, you're no ordinary werewolf."
"I don't know either. I lost my memory after your family adopted me," Fenrir replied.
"You didn't lose your memory, Fenrir. We erased it," She revealed one of the most treasured secret of their family. She loves him so much that she would rather betray her family than make him suffer.
"Erase it? What do you mean?" he was puzzled by her words.
"You were like a wild animal back then, not like any werewolf we had ever seen. You kept getting stronger and bigger the more you ate and drank blood, so we had to seal your powers and memories. Our family worked with the Witches of Silent Hill to put a curse on you," Elizabeth explained with a heavy heart.
"A curse?" he was taken aback.
"That's right. If you want to get more answers, then you need to follow me to Silent Hill," Elizabeth urged him, her eyes filled with determination.
