Chapter 311 Deaths
Tyrannus' staggered backwards with a bloody cut on his chest and a look of shock on his face.
"Oh!" The Death King's smile widened. "Apex predators like Tyrannus rarely care about people less than him, and that is their biggest weakness, and now his closest subordinate has crossed the gap between their power so much that he is now a threat."
"Y-you..." Tyrannus let out a deep, pained sigh and then summoned his battleaxe back to his grip.
Adam put his long katana in front of his body and shifted his body position into a fighting stance.
The atmosphere turned tense, as this was going to be a bloody battle that would determine who would remain alive.
"Hmm?" The Death King turned his head around towards the sky and saw a glowing skeleton flying towards him at great speed.
His eyes narrowed, and he quickly moved out of the way.
At that moment, the skeleton crashed to the ground, and when the dust cleared, one of the Ghosts of the Wild Hunt was sprawling on the ground, unconscious.
"Oho?" The Death King's eyes widened slightly, and then he saw a black-haired young man descending from the sky, his clothes tattered, and there was a bloody gash on his forehead.
"Whoo..." Ambrose couldn't use both of his eyes as the blood was pouring out of the gash into his left eye, making him half-blind.
However, with his last remaining eye, he could see what was happening.
'Everyone, why are they here?' Ambrose breathed heavily out of exhaustion as he watched Black Heart members fight Mars.
'Did Mars summon them to him? Why didn't he summon me?'
"So, you've come." Mars said coldly while parrying the attacks from Apollo and others.
It looked effortless, and he wasn't even looking at them, but instead at Ambrose.
"Mind telling me where my heart is?"
"So, you've found out..." Ambrose scoffed. "I ain't telling you."
"You will." Mars slapped Apollo away and dashed straight at Ambrose. "You'll suffer and tell!"
"Haha, this is mine!" Suddenly, the Death King kicked Mars away and pinned him to the ground. "I haven't fought anyone yet, and he managed to survive the Wild Hunt. He is a proper opponent, and the heart is mine!"
"Fuck off!" Mars' skin started smoking as if he were burning from inside.
"Haha, you have your own opponents. Don't be greedy!" The Death King jumped into the air and sent a wide-slash with his scythe; it was colored black and flew across the air at supersonic speed.
It was headed straight towards Ambrose!
'Too fast!' Ambrose's eyes widened in shock, and then the slash swallowed him whole, causing his health to deplete straight to zero.
He vanished into pixels and disappeared from the world.
In just an instant, he died!
...
In a world of darkness.
'My health was too low after fighting the ghosts, and I had to eat all my food to restore my health.' Ambrose groaned loudly, but his voice didn't travel anywhere.
'I wonder where I ended up.'
He immediately pressed to return to the world, anxious about where he would end up.
...
A cluster of pixels appeared in the air, soon forming the outline of a human with black hair and dull blue eyes.
After Ambrose opened his eyes, he heard a loud shout.
"You survived that? Interesting!" The Death King flew straight towards him with a large grin. "I thought you died!"
'I respawned back in Haventown?' Ambrose's eyes shrank, and he realized how.
'That's right. I am under the slave contract, and if I died, of course I would be sent back to Mars.'
At that moment, he tried to look around to see what item he had dropped, but couldn't see anything, except his pouch of silvers.
'Did I not drop anything?' Ambrose thought in shock, as this was the first time for him.
Because of the surprise of everything, he noticed the Death King a little bit too late, who used the scythe and killed him again.
And then, only ten seconds later, Ambrose re-emerged in the air and landed roughly on the ground.
'If this is the case...' Ambrose's eyes shone, and his lips grew into crazed skin. 'This truly suits my suicidal style.'
He then noticed the Red Sword dropping to the ground where he had just died.
He quickly picked it up, and his brown pouch filled with silvers, and tossed them into his inventory.
'It vanished?' Mars still kept his eyes on Ambrose, and after seeing the sword disappear into thin air, he realized something. 'It must've been sent to some different dimension, and that must be where my heart is. I'll force him to give it to me!'
"What a slippery guy..." The Death King looked suspicious. "I could swear that I killed him, but he just won't stay dead."
Ambrose drew both of his swords and flew straight to the Death King using Formlessness.
'Even though I died and have used tons of food to restore my health, my soul is still injured!' He hoped that there was a way to heal that, or he wasn't sure whether he could keep playing.
'If there is no way to heal in here, I'll have to visit the Wisdom King again.'
"Your concentration is elsewhere." The Death King said with an echoing voice and smashed the scythe through Ambrose's body, again killing him off.
However, he immediately appeared, this time above him, and Ambrose immediately used the Slash of the Six Words.
The powerful attack caught the Death King off guard and struck him.
However, even though the attack landed perfectly on his frail-looking body, he didn't even bend his knees and instead slapped the black blade away and smashed his scythe at Ambrose.
Ambrose quickly used the Formlessness, evaded those deadly strikes, and used hit-and-run tactics to try to slowly kill off the Death King's health.
However, no matter what he did, it seemed like he didn't even make a dent.
'This weird armor is far too durable. I thought the Black Sword would be able to slash straight through, but it seems like the armor is made of equally strong material, or perhaps even stronger.'
Ambrose felt helpless, and he felt urgency as he saw his friends fighting Mars and losing badly. They were fighting for every inch of their lives, and soon one of them might die.
'Cursed!' Ambrose's eyes turned serious. 'I'll kill these fuckers even if I need to die a thousand times!'
...
A ship made of metal was docked on the shore of Brain Island, and there were robed individuals on board.
Most had white robes with white top hats, while a few of the officers had brown robes and the same-colored top hat.
However, on the deck, holding a spyglass, a red-robed individual let out a thoughtful hum.
"Send a message to Sacrarium." The Red Inquisitor lowered the spyglass and looked at his subordinates. "The Death King, the Sea King, and Mars Godfriend have entered combat.
"We'll keep them posted about the progress.
"Also, Reinhardt's disciple is also there, including the rest of the Black Heart pirates and even Adam Slasher. We'll keep count on the casualties."
"Yes, sire!" The White Inquisitors replied in unison and went towards the transmitter to send a message to their headquarters.
The Red Inquisitor raised his chin and looked towards the Sea King's island.
"It was worth coming all the way to the enemy's territory."
