Leighton’s face darkened as he stared at Nicole. “I didn’t quit because I can’t handle the role. I quit because I don’t want to act with you as my partner.”

“You said the same thing last time, yet you couldn’t even nail a simple kissing scene. You kept bumping into my teeth. It’s been two years since then. Have you finally figured out how to handle kissing scenes?” Nicole asked with a smile.

Stella was shocked to hear that she said that in front of everyone. Leighton seemed to take Nicole’s words to heart, and his expression grew even more unpleasant.

Leighton was a top-tier idol, and Nicole was the youngest three-time award-winning actress. Both of them had high national recognition. No one dared to intervene in their conversation. Rather, they were glad to not be involved in the drama.

Estelle was terrified when she noticed that Leighton was on the verge of exploding. Stella gently tugged at his arm and whispered, “Don’t be rash. You’ve portrayed this role brilliantly. Are you sure you want to give it up?”

Leighton’s throat tightened. Although Ralph’s screen time was not extensive, he was a special guest in the film.

Leighton had invested a lot of time and effort into bringing the character to life. He genuinely enjoyed playing the role. To give it up now honestly did not sit well with him.

Seeing his expression soften, Stella added, “Your fans are watching. They’ve been waiting for you since the beginning of this shoot. Do you know how disappointed they’d be if you quit?”

Leighton had a soft spot for his supporters. He did not depend on his family’s background to debut in the entertainment industry. Instead, he worked hard and relied on his fans’ unwavering support to climb to stardom. He might not say it often, but he dreaded the thought of disappointing the people who had supported him all along.

After some thought, Leighton gradually regained his composure. He shot a glance at Nicole and retrieved the script from the director. “I’m going to touch up my makeup,” he declared firmly.

Nicole appeared somewhat disappointed when she realized Leighton did not take the bait. She turned to Stella and smiled, “Hello, Miss Jewell.”

Stella responded courteously, not surprised that Nicole recognized her. After all, during her previous altercation with Bella, Nicole had posted something on Facebook that indicated she was aware of the situation.

Perhaps to prevent an on-set confrontation between Leighton and Nicole, Stuart had not scheduled scenes where they would have to work together today. Instead, they were asked to reshoot some of the previous scenes in the movie.

During her break, Stella asked Estelle, “Estelle, what

happened between Leighton and Nicole? Why are they at each other’s throats?”

Estelle shrugged and said, “Actually, I’m not entirely sure. They worked together on a movie before, where Nicole played Leighton’s stepmother. However, the stepmother was rather flirtatious and ended up seducing her stepson, which is the character Leighton played. He was just starting his acting career then and was barely in his early twenties. He knew very little about acting and could not even find his marks on set. He honestly played the role well. However, once the show was completed, he immediately upped and left.”

“He even skipped all the movie’s promotional roadshows. He also steered clear of any projects or variety shows that involved Nicole. I found it weird. So, I talked to the production team back then and…” Estelle glanced around cautiously before whispering, “It seems like they got too deep into their roles, and what was initially just acting evolved into something more. After some time of being together, Nicole realized that Leighton was too young for her, and they broke up.”

Estelle’s words left Stella taken aback. ‘It seems like she’s even more of a gossiper than I am,’ she thought.

‘If I remember correctly, Nicole is Vermont’s ex who likes girls. How could she have had a romantic relationship with Leighton? I bet things aren’t that simple. But I can’t ask Leighton about it since his reaction was so intense. This is so frustrating!’

Just as Stella was contemplating the situation, Keegan called. She picked up the phone and asked, “What’s up?”

“Stella, my engagement ring has been deformed,” said Keegan.

Stella paused before responding, “I’ll take it to get repaired for you when I have some free time in the next couple of days.”

Keegan pursed his lips and said, “The gold is too soft; the ring is likely to change its shape again even if you get it fixed.
