Chapter 116 - Little Stalker With Golden Eyes
Chapter 116 - Little Stalker With Golden Eyes
These days, Jiang Jinyan had a feeling that someone had been watching him.
But when he turned back, he could find no one. At first, he thought that he had been thinking too much, however the feeling was so tangible that he couldn't fool himself that it was a mere imagination.
Was Zhou Zhui's people monitoring him?
He had just moved to the Capital a few weeks ago and settled into the best apartment that the real estate agent introduced him to. It was serene, safe and services were quite wholesome, thus he didn't hesitate to pay for half a year's loan.
On the first day that he moved here, he walked around the district to familiarize himself with the surroundings. The more he looked at it, the more satisfied he became. It fulfilled all of Jiang Jinyan's conditions of living. Peaceful, quiet with nobody to disturb him.
Alas, it was merely a wistful thought.
When he found the cafeteria and ate there, a woman with gaudy makeup sauntered toward him and tried to talk to him. Even though Jiang Jinyan didn't give her any attention, the woman sat down opposite him and performed a one person talk.
In the end, when she introduced herself—Jiang Jinyan heard her name but forgot in the next second—flirted and sweet talked to him but received no response in return, she left in humiliation.
The next day, a man with spiked hair named Zhou Zhui claimed to be her boyfriend and came to find him, cursing that Jiang Jinyan had seduced his girlfriend. He acted like a local tyrant as if the whole district belonged to his grandparents.
Of course, Jiang Jinyan ignored him.
But the man kept on coming back, like an annoying bug. It vexed him so much that he almost couldn't control the violent impulse inside him. Coincidentally, he had just wanted to find some punching bags to vent his irritation and the man became the perfect foil. Thus, the fight commenced.
Jiang Jinyan didn't think far when he fought, only that he wanted to teach Zhou Zhui a lesson so that the latter would leave him alone. Who knew that Zhou Zhui would block him in a dark alley a few days later with a bunch of gangsters?
Hence, the second fight took place—the one whom Shi Nian happened to chance upon.
His plan for a solitary life shattered into pieces. He hadn't even moved in for a week and he had fought two times.
And the more irritating thing was—he met that girl again. The girl with golden eyes.
A rub on his leg snapped him out of his thoughts and he lowered his head to find a pair of soft, shimmering, watery golden eyes staring back at him. It reminded him so much of that girl that he fell into a trance for a moment. Only when his pants were bitten did he finally regain his clarity. "What do you want?"
"Meow~" The plump, fluffy ash grey kitten replied enthusiastically.
Jiang Jinyan grabbed the clutch by his side and limped toward the kitchen. The little kitten trailed after him, its tail swishing back and forth. Jiang Jinyan opened the cabinet and poured a bowl of cat food. He watched as the little feline ate in relish, its whiskers trembled in bliss. It even purred out deep from its throat.
The doorbell rang and Jiang Jinyan went to fetch his delivery. Hence, a human and a cat started to eat in harmony. Jiang Jinyan was in the middle of eating when the little kitten started a ruckus again. It kept on trying to climb on Jiang Jinyan's pants. Just when it had almost succeeded to reach his thigh, its paw loosened and it rolled down to the floor and landed with its belly up. Its watery eyes staring at him sadly.
His disturbed mood caused by the unexpected encounter ended up soothed by its silly antics. He reached out and pinched it on the back of its neck. "Why? You're not full?"
Its four paws hanging down loosely as it whimpered softly, looking very much aggrieved.
Anyway, Jiang Jinyan had gotten used to it selling meng everyday so he wouldn't be fooled anymore. He pushed it away like a bowling ball. The kitten nimbly rolled away and licked its scruff.
"Go away, don't bother me." He said with a huff as he finished his food.
After washing the cat bowl, he put on his artificial leg, grabbed the trash bag and went out to throw it.
In fact, on every floor, there was a garbage bin in the hallway but Jiang Jinyan chose to go out and crossed the street to throw it into the public garbage bin. He dawdled, walking around to digest the food and brought two large mineral water on his way back.
He was ready to go back to the apartment building when he changed his mind.
Here it was again.
The feeling of someone watching him from afar.
He deliberately changed his course and went back out. The plastic bag created rustling sounds with each step. The air was humid and his sweaty forehead was being caressed by the wind. He sighed wearily and contemplated on whether he should move away or not.
If it was Zhou Zhui and his people coming back for revenge again, he would make sure to take care of them once and for all then rent another place to live in.
He purposely raked his fingers through his hair and gave a discreet glance behind, trying to catch whoever it was off guard, but as always, there was no one. The street was empty with no people. Only the faint conversations from afar, the sound of television and the honk of cars was heard.
For the first time, Jiang Jinyan started to doubt his judgement. Did he think too much of it to the point of paranoia? Or it wasn't his imagination? If it was so, then whoever it was that was stalking him ought to have some skills in them.
He pulled back from his thoughts and continued walking down the road. This time, he chose a narrow path and headed into the back of a building. Then, he hid under the shadow and waited there for ten seconds.
As he expected, a faint shadow approached soundlessly. They stopped in a distance and hesitated. Jiang Jinyan didn't give them any chance to retreat as he dropped his plastic bag and ran out all of a sudden.
A pair of golden eyes that was similar to the stupid fella at home stared back at him in shock.
Jiang Jinyan pursed his lips tight, his eyes chilled down in an instant. So, it was you…
His brows knitted.. Suspicion, doubt and hostility brewed within his somber eyes. "Why are you following me?"
