Chapter 52 - I Will Always Cheer For You
Chapter 52 - I Will Always Cheer For You
Shi Nian's heart jumped to her throat and she brought the phone closer to her face. In her mind, it was not the problem of her location being discovered, but Jiang Jinyan's. He was still recuperating, how could anyone disturb him?
Fortunately, as she scrolled, the commenter who said that he saw Jiang Jinyan in the hospital didn't appear again. But then, this one sentence was enough to set off another bomb. In the end, it even made its way to the trending topic of #JiangJinyanHospital where people were clamoring to find out where he was treated.
Shi Nian bit her nails, nervous.
Her eyes were glued to the screen as she kept on monitoring the public discussion.
Scroll, scroll, scroll…
Until a moment later, a huge palm covered her phone screen and she looked up blankly, dumbfounded. Xu Binchen frowned as he said snappily. "Why are you looking at your phone so much? Didn't I say not to think too much about it?"
Shi Nian shook her head. She wasn't worried about that, but Xu Binchen wouldn't understand even if she said it…
[Uncle.] She wrote solemnly.
"What?" the man replied curtly.
[This hospital, it won't be discovered right?]
Xu Binchen scoffed. As he expected, she was just a little girl who could be frightened too. He haphazardly messed up her hair. "Your Brother Wang is working on it. It will not be discovered." His even, cool tone emitted indifference, yet it was still this tone that offered her a little bit of security.
Shi Nian nodded and Xu Binchen snatched her phone away.
"You can only go online for an hour a day, got it? It's not good for your eyes."
Shi Nian inwardly rolled her eyes. Before getting to know Xu Binchen, he was just a fierce looking detective who didn't like to speak nonsense, but after getting to know him better, he became a kindhearted, grumpy and long winded uncle next door.
Despite that, she still nodded in acquiescence.
Afterall, she was an obedient and law-abiding citizen, she wouldn't go against a police officer's words.
Later, when Xu Binchen wasn't here, she would go surf Weib8 again.
***
Late at night, Xu Binchen was being summoned by his captain to return to the Police Bureau. He left some underlings to watch over Shi Nian. It seemed like he was getting busier and busier because there were too many things that they had to investigate.
Xu Binchen's face was as dark as the bottom of the pot as he went out. He even ordered, "Don't go out anywhere during these times."
Shi Nian nodded readily, and after Xu Binchen disappeared, she whipped her phone out again. The hot topic was still rampaging through Weib8, garnering a mass of attention. Shi Nian found out that the video had disappeared from the internet, only leaving one or two screenshots of Jiang Jinyan.
She and Xu Binchen weren't mentioned at all. Well, to begin with, she didn't even attract any attention though, only Xu Binchen and Jiang Jinyan. But after Jiang Jinyan's post this noon, miraculously, the direction of public discussion started to change.
No one talked about Emergency Rescue Gege anymore, only the upcoming Olympics and the main character who was in the middle of the storm, Jiang Jinyan.
Now, people were busy guessing for what reasons Jiang Jinyan got himself landed in the hospital. Some said that he was injured because of over-exercising, some said that he got into a gang fight and got his head cracked and his leg smashed, some even said that he was drunk driving and ended up in a car accident.
To be honest, Shi Nian didn't know how he got into an accident either.
But she believed that Jiang Jinyan wasn't like what the public said about him at all.
Then, more and more speculations popped up. Netizens even handed proof of the surveillance record of Jiang Jinyan fighting four years ago. At that time, he hadn't even been an athlete yet. Shi Nian zoomed in on the picture and couldn't match Jiang Jinyan's face with the people scrambling in the dark holding beer bottles at all.
It was amazing how the original poster could create a 1000 long words caption as if they were there when Jiang Jinyan fought. The description, causes and consequences were laid out clearly. If Shi Nian had no idea of Jiang Jinyan's true character, then she might have believed it.
It wasn't only that original poster, but more and more people came out, saying that they were Jiang Jinyan's junior high school classmate and how he often got into fight with the neighboring school and local gangsters, breaking the class representative's arm, even causing the poor boy to withdraw from the school, truly an overbearing and unreasonable tyrant.
Shi Nian was fuming as she read that.
When Jiang Jinyan was in the peak of limelight, why didn't these black materials come out?!
Now that he had fallen, one by one, people came out as if they were the victims of his crime, saying something bad about him like a trophy to be shown off.
Shi Nian was livid. For the first time ever, she couldn't hold herself back and replied.
[Don't talk so much nonsense! Even if that's true, it doesn't have anything to do with him now! He is injured, how can you people badmouth him like this?!]
Her comment instantly got replied in a few seconds.
[Yoyoyo~ look at the previous commenter. Another blind fan of Jiang Jinyan's.]
[Ckck, I know that he's nothing good. It's different if it's only one person but how many people have come out to confess about his atrocious crimes? Jiang Jinyan tried to wash himself clean but it's useless HAHAHA!]
[Well, I think it's good this way. If there's a problem with his character, then it is better for him to withdraw from the Olympics sooner. If he carries our country's name and then causes this shame, how can we lift our heads up?]
[Like, previous commenter! +1]
[+999]
[I say, maybe this is all karma…]
Shi Nian was so angry that she wanted to cry. She spent two hours arguing with the people behind the screen and ended up almost vomiting blood. These people, they didn't know the truth at all but their malicious comments were enough to kill someone!
To lift him up higher when he's in Heaven and to stomp him down when he's suffering in Hell, were they still humans?
The rims of Shi Nian's eyes reddened and she went back to Jiang Jinyan's accounts. The comments under his latest post had broken into more than 200.000 just in a span of one night. Shi Nian clicked the comments section and saw more and more unbridled people came out to curse him. Even though there were some who put on crying emojis and asked how he was, the point was, they all just seek sensation and wanted to be the first to know gossip!
Shi Nian pursed her lips, upset.
Slowly, she started to type. Even if her comment was going to sink into the bottom of the ocean, she still would like to support him wholeheartedly.
[Missing You for a Century: Mr. Jiang Jinyan, no matter what you do and no matter how you are now, I will always cheer for you! Fighting! You can do it!]
