Chapter 207: Liyue's touch at the Existence
Chapter 207: Liyue's touch at the Existence
Liyue opened her eyes groggily. It felt as if she had slept for days on end. In fact, it was only now that she woke up after her Breakthrough Dream.
Gentle evening sunlight filtered through the curtains on the side. A cool breeze lifted them away from the windows.
Feeling comfortable, she looked up and smiled widely. Han Li's red eyes were curiously looking at her; she could see the anticipation almost bursting.
She was the one on the lap now.
Liyue laughed almost unknowingly.
"What are you gawking at? Too amazed by how beautiful the woman before you is?"
Han Li smiled. "Maybe. You have indeed become dangerously beautiful. Alarmingly so."
Her sword-like eyebrows danced. She was in a good mood even though her heartbeat was basically drumming with adrenaline. It was the first time she had met death to the face, and it had ended up quite nice.
She wanted to hold the secret back for a while before saying it, but her mouth just couldn't stop. "Big Brother, you guys already lost in giving me surprises today! Someone gave me something truly wondrous."
Han Li squinted, and she sat up in a quick motion. Then, she sat on his lap, her face facing him from slightly above him, and her legs wrapped around his waist.
He wrapped his own hand around her waist.
"Guess who is in a good mood," he commented.
She hugged his face tightly, and he was a bit disoriented as she continued to throw kisses at him from all sides. "I have so much to say I don't even know where to begin!"
Han Li pulled out his head from her tight embrace and looked at her curiously. He had a guess but he decided not to be a buzzkill.
"Oh, enlighten this humble husband."
"First of all, this Miss Liyue has officially found out the reason for our marriage failures!"
Han Li furrowed his brows. That was completely out of his expectations.
"What do you mean?" he asked, much more solemn.
She was still smiling. "It's our Mother. She is the reason for our marriage failures! All because of Mother Yue."
Han Li's face was a funny sight.
Liyue didn't know whether to laugh or just hug him more tightly. Before that, she asked, "Big Brother, do you know this… Spirit? Munyu?"
That made Han Li's face change. "Where did you hear it?"
"Answer me first; mine's a longer story."
"The Spirit is the expert I told you about once. Remember that Yang Wei I dueled? She was the creature that resided inside him. That was the Spirit. Munyu was her name."
"Expert…" Liyue almost had a condescending smile on her face. "Did you kill her too?"
"Probably. I've told you about this before, but yes, it shouldn't be a threat to us… Where are you headed with this?"
"I've told you something before, right?"
"You've told me many things before."
"I said 'That I would beat you in a fight.' Do you want me to show you something?"
The room grew silent except for the flying curtains and the breeze. They were seated on the bed, their shadows hanging on the walls. Han Li pushed her down and looked at her stunning face lying in the bed.
"Who taught you to be so roundabout? Go straight to where you are headed. So irritating!"
Liyue nodded and gave him a light hit on his back.
He had been completely unprepared, and suddenly, he felt his world spin; it was as if her touch had moved beyond his physique and touched him right at the soul.
When he opened his eyes, Liyue was proudly seated above his stomach with two legs on each of his sides. Her brown monk robes, added to the warm sunlight on her face, almost made him dazed.
Her long and wavy black hair was flying in the breeze.
"That was…" He asked, his face full of disbelief. She had just lightly touched him, and he felt as if he had been rammed by some powerful club—painless as it was.
What was going on?
This… This…
"Tsk, tsk," She leaned down and planted a kiss on his dumbfounded lips. Then, drew back, patting his cheeks. "Only brawns and no brains, such a disappointment. And you hadn't seen half of what I am capable of."
Han Li blurted out, "What are you capable of? How does this work..."
She drew a line from his forehead to his nose with her fingers.
"Do you trust me?"
Han Li was peeved.
"I would normally… but I don't trust you now. Truly speaking… I am kind of scared right now. Did that Spirit come back to life and do something to you?"
Liyue was speechless. She showed her palm, baring her cute claws.
"I'll use my power again if you don't trust me!"
"How dare you threaten me!" He flipped her on the bed, slamming both of her hands against the bed and completely trapping her beneath him. Even her legs were completely immobilized. "Use the power now? Heh, you are still too weak!"
Liyue smirked. "Not too sure about that. I don't need to use my hand to use the power. You are strong. Far stronger than me but in the one aspect I am strong at, you are weak."
Her Existence flared in her eyes, seeing right into Han Li's powerful, gold-tinted Existence. She sent a wave of shock from her Existence to Han Li through the hand by which he was locking her own hands.
Once again, Han Li was disoriented, and when he opened his eyes, Liyue was on his stomach, her gaze condescending and playful.
Then, she grew slightly serious, thinking, 'If that Yang Wei person had this power, Big Brother would have been in danger. Seems like he wasn't allowed or couldn't use the power even though he had connections with the Spirit.'
She was not really that strong. If she was looked at with critical eyes of analysis, she was just a newly Evolved. She was weak! A normal Evolved could defeat her easily!
But her touch was unique. If she touched a person, she could startle their Existence and that is enough to make them faint shortly. Han Li was strong, but his Existence was completely unprotected. It was like an armor that didn't protect the eyes.
She would probably die in a second if she tried to fight him when he knew that her 'touch' was deadly. But if someone didn't know that, her 'touch' would be deadly!
She could startle them right at their core!
Maybe even Power Born could be startled... and killed, with this specific power!
If they didn't know it and they weren't people who had sensed Existence themselves, a touch alone would probably be enough to handle them.
He looked at her with an eye full of doubt. His 500 years of experience had included nothing about an... Existence.
She squinted. "What? You have a problem I defeated you?"
Han Li caught her by the collar and pulled her into his embrace. She was trapped in a hug, and he wrapped his hand around her. "I am proud. So teach your big brother the trick."
"No way. Let me harass you a bit more. Maybe… let me throw you into a cold pond in the break of dawn, then beat you up with a stick in the name of training."
"Vengeful!" he cursed.
She laughed at the name. "But then, I'll kiss you after taking you out of the water like a rag doll. Soothe you, and then make you give me an excellent oral service down there. Fantastic things! Exactly how you've been teaching me. Of course, I'll be gentle at times and such."
Han Li looked at her eyes with skepticism.
The best thing to do not to give oil to fire was not to talk about it.
"What is with this power anyway?"
"I have so much to tell you, I just touched your Existence and you were too unguarded..." She changed her tone, smirking at his dubious face. "I even made your Expert Spirit promise to become our temple's guardian beast!"
