While thinking, Celeste walked into Trisha’s room. The door was wide open; Trisha wasn’t inside, but there was the sound of running water from the bathroom.
Celeste stood at the bathroom door and knocked lightly: “Trisha, are you in there?”
The sound of water suddenly stopped, and after a moment, Trisha emerged. She had just taken a shower and was wearing a t–shirt and shorts. Holding a toothbrush in her hand and a mouthful of foam, she asked, “Do you need the bathroom?”
“No,” Celeste looked Trisha over, noticed her expression was normal, and felt somewhat relieved. “Actually, Nicolas just called, asking about you. Did something happen tonight?”
Trisha’s face darkened instantly; she rinsed her mouth, spat the foam out, and then asked, “What did Nicolas tell you?” “He was just worried about whether you got home safely, so he called to ask.”
“You must be joking,” Trisha muttered under her breath. “Ignore him; he’s not worth it.”
“What happened between you guys?”
Trisha was seething: “That Nicolas, he said he would help me deliver meals to the doctor, but he ended up eating them all. If I hadn’t run into Dr. Ledford today and asked about it, I wouldn’t have known for a year! Is this something a decent person would do?
He said he would help me pursue Dr. Ledford, but two months have passed and he’s done nothing. He only knows how to eat my food!”
Celeste was taken aback; indeed, Nicolas‘ behavior was out of line. But it shouldn’t be enough to make Trisha this angry, right?
Celeste tentatively asked, “Did Nicolas do anything else that upset you?”
Trisha stiffened, remembering the scene where Nicolas kissed her. Her face turned bright red, but not out of shyness but out of anger!
Trisha declared angrily, “That shameless guy, he asked me to help him deal with a girl who’s chasing him. I kindly agreed, but then he kissed me!”
She continued, “The key is, this all happened in front of Dr. Ledford! If it was any other time, it would be fine, but it happened in front of Dr. Ledford! Dr. Ledford must have misunderstood my relationship with Nicolas!”
Celeste was dumbfounded. Was Dr. Ledford misunderstanding the point? The point should be that Nicolas kissed her! Celeste opened her mouth, struggling to say, “Even if he asked for your help, he shouldn’t have kissed you, right?” For normal people, unless they had feelings, they really couldn’t do something like kiss, right?

Celeste stated her point directly: “What I mean is, could it be possible that he kissed you because he likes you?”
“That’s even less likely; I saw him on a date with a busty girl a few days ago; he must be doing this on purpose to make me upset!”
Hearing this, Celeste began to wonder if she was overthinking things.
But she’d known Nicolas for years, and she’d never seen him smooch any female friends in public. Trisha brushed off Celeste’s concerns and changed the subject to, “How was your night last night?” Celeste snapped back to reality, shaking her head. “Don’t even go there; I bumped into Kaylee, that nutcase.”
