Chapter 1277 True Form (Part 1)
Evan has a skill called Soul Absorption, which allows him to collect the souls of the deceased and use them to empower his other skills or attacks.
However, after arriving in Utopia, he had used this skill only a handful of times. The last time he had used it was during his time in the Tomb of the Ancient. Since leaving the tomb, the skill had remained unused.
There were two reasons for this. First, Evan hadn't faced a situation dire enough to warrant empowering his attacks to save his life. Second, his stockpile of souls was nearly depleted.
In Arora World, he had collected hundreds of thousands of souls after slaughtering hordes of monsters and the demons summoned by the Dark Guild.
However, he had expended all those souls during the events in the Tomb of the Ancient and hadn't had the opportunity to replenish them since.
The last large-scale battle he participated in, where he killed hundreds of thousands of enemies was in Azragoth World.
However, due to the unique nature of Azragoth World—where the flesh, blood, and souls of the deceased were absorbed by the world itself—he couldn't collect any souls during that time.
When Carla died in the Tomb of the Ancient and Zorda handed him her head, Evan had attempted to use Soul Absorption to collect her soul.
Yet, the skill had failed. Later, after turning Zorda into a shadow undead, Evan had even asked Zorda to take him to the location where Carla was killed by him to try again.
Despite these efforts, Evan couldn't find any trace of Carla's soul. At the time, he had assumed her soul had dissipated because he hadn't absorbed it immediately after her death.
But now, witnessing the bizarre events that had just occurred, a new theory began forming in his mind.
The vision he had seen moments ago clearly took place after Carla died in the Tomb of the Ancient, and the multicoloured orb he had absorbed was undoubtedly her soul.
This realization led him to an astonishing conclusion: somehow, just now, he had travelled back in time to the moment of Carla's death and collected her soul there.
'Does this mean my so-called Ruler's Authority is tied to time manipulation, allowing me to revisit the past?' Evan thought, his face etched with confusion as he grappled with the strange situation.
Before using Balance Weaver, he had suspected that reviving someone wouldn't be straightforward. But even in his wildest dreams, he hadn't anticipated needing to travel back in time to retrieve Carla's soul.
'If my theory is correct, then it explains why I couldn't find Carla's soul in the Tomb of the Ancient. After all, it was already collected—by the future me,' He thought, rubbing his temples. The implications of this realization were both mind-boggling and unsettling.
Evan's thoughts drifted to Azroth and he thought about the Temporal Pause Authority Azroth had used in the Tomb of the Ancient during the battle against Baphomet and Eldrakar.
Temporal Pause was also a time-related power. Since Azroth possessed that ability, it wasn't far-fetched to think he might have other time-based abilities as well.
"In all the novels I have read, things always get messy when time powers are involved," Evan muttered with a sigh, deciding to set the matter aside for now.
He turned his attention to Carla's illusionary figure in front of him. Bit by bit, the figure began to solidify, as if the soul Evan had retrieved from the past was merging seamlessly with the empty shell formed by the Conceptual Energy of the Soul.
In less than a minute, Carla's soul fully integrated with the shell, transforming it into a spiritual life form.
A life form without a physical body, existing purely as a soul.
However, this wasn't the most remarkable part.
The true miracle was that Carla was now undeniably alive. The spiritual fluctuations radiating from her form were weak but unmistakable. Sylvan and the others could sense faint traces of life emanating from her.
Although her life force was fragile—so weak that it seemed as though it could be extinguished at any moment—it was undeniably present.
Evan's gaze shifted to the remaining Conceptual Energy of Soul hovering above Carla's head.
More than half of it still remained, but for some reason, it had stopped moving after her soul had merged with the shell.
As Evan studied the scene closely, he noticed that instead of the milky white energy, the Conceptual Energy of Life—golden and radiant—began moving toward Carla's spiritual body.
The moment the golden energy touched Carla's spiritual form, a powerful aura of life flooded the training room. Before everyone's eyes, flesh began to regenerate over her spiritual body.
Simultaneously, the remaining Conceptual Energy of the Soul hovering above her head merged with the Conceptual Energy of Life. Together, they flowed into Carla's regenerating form.
As the combined energies poured into her, Carla's soul grew stronger, and her flesh continued to regenerate at an accelerated pace.
Evan observed the process intently, determined to understand the mechanics at play.
Unlike the others, he wielded the primordial shadow energy, and he knew that comprehending the workings of life and soul energy could lead to significant breakthroughs in his own powers.
Time passed, and after about an hour, the fluctuations emanating from Carla stabilized, reaching the level of Rank Two.
This confirmed that individuals revived using Balance Weaver would retain the same rank they held at the time of their death.
Evan and the others could feel the diminishing presence of the Conceptual Energy of Life and Soul, signalling that the process was nearing its conclusion.
Seeing this, Evan sighed in relief, noting that everything had gone smoothly. Just as he was about to speak, his expression shifted abruptly.
A chilling sensation washed over him as he suddenly felt the gaze of an immensely terrifying existence upon him and the Goosebumps rose across his body.

A notification flashed before his eyes, leaving him frozen in place.
