Chapter 1276 Ruler's Authority: Soul Keeper
(Your Ruler's Authority: Soul Keeper has been activated.)
Evan was stunned when he saw the notification in front of him, his eyes widening in disbelief.
"Ruler's Authority..." He muttered in a low voice, recalling he had unlocked this ability in the Tomb of the Ancient after absorbing the blood of the Rank Six Light Dragon.
At that time, all he knew about the Ruler's Authority was that it doubled his Endurance. There had been no additional information about it, not even its name.
Initially, Evan had assumed his Ruler's Authority was linked to physical enhancement due to its effect on his Endurance.
However, now, seeing the ability's name and considering the situation that had triggered it, he realized it was spiritual in nature rather than physical.
"Soul Keeper," Evan murmured, frowning as he felt he had heard these words before.
Using his high-level spiritual power, he began sifting through his memories and in mere seconds, he recalled hearing these exact words in one of his dreams.
It had been during his early days in Utopia when he went to Star City for the first time.
He remembered having a dream in Star City where someone had mentioned the words "Soul Keeper." (Chap—742)
As this realization settled in, Evan refocused on the present, glancing at Sylvan and the others and was startled to find their faces pale and their bodies trembling visibly.
The soul-stirring pressure radiating from his body had not subsided. Instead, it seemed to be intensifying with every passing second.
Anastasia had already activated her Soul Resonance skill, and though she appeared to be holding up better than the others, Evan could tell that even her soul was under immense strain from the spiritual aura emanating from him.
Evan took a deep breath, attempting to suppress the overwhelming pressure emanating from his body. However, no matter how hard he tried, the force remained entirely beyond his control.
It felt as though he were an inexperienced driver attempting to control a high-speed car.
Realizing his efforts were futile, Evan could only glance at Sylvan and the others apologetically before turning his attention back to Carla.
'At least the spiritual aura, while overwhelming, isn't harming them,' He thought, redirecting his focus to Carla's head, which was now enveloped in a milky white energy exuding a faint spiritual aura.
Slowly but surely, Carla's head began to disintegrate, breaking apart into white particles that shimmered with spiritual power. These particles floated in the air, weightless and ethereal.
Evan raised an eyebrow as the sight reminded him of something. He recalled how, when Azroth revived the Light Dragon, the bone he had used as medium similarly vanished—a loss that had caused Evan significant heartache, as the bone of a Rank Six dragon was incredibly valuable.
The white particles that now floated before him gradually began to converge, forming the shape of a humanoid figure.
Upon closer inspection, Evan noticed that the humanoid figure bore a striking resemblance to Carla.
Although the figure shared Carla's physical traits and emitted faint spiritual fluctuations, it was clear to Evan that it was merely an empty shell. Despite its form and aura, there was no trace of life within it.
'Is this process condensing Carla's soul?' Evan wondered, trying to discern the workings of the Conceptual Energy of the Soul.
As he concentrated, a sudden wave of dizziness overcame him. His consciousness blurred, and his vision went dark.
In the darkness, Evan felt his awareness being pulled through an endless void. When the oppressive darkness lifted, he found himself gazing down at a dismembered body.
At first, confusion clouded his thoughts as he struggled to understand what he was seeing. However, as his gaze fell upon the dismembered body, with only its head remaining relatively intact, his mind reeled in shock.
'Carla?' He thought, his heart pounding as recognition dawned upon him.
His eyes scanned his surroundings, and he was stunned to find himself in a familiar place.
'This… This is the second layer of the Tomb of the Ancient!' Evan's thoughts raced as he took in the dark sky above.
Before he could process the situation further, a devouring force erupted from him.
His eyes shifted to see a multicoloured orb hovering above Carla's head. The orb pulsed with energy as it began moving toward him.
In an instant, the orb reached him and was absorbed into his body before he could react.
By the time he registered what had happened, his consciousness blurred once again and he found himself traversing the endless darkness of the void, hurtling through space at an unimaginable speed.
Moments later, Evan regained awareness, his surroundings coming into focus and he was back in the training room, his vision slightly unfocused as he tried to make sense of what just happened.
As he struggled to process the event, the spiritual pressure radiating from his body suddenly vanished, and his Ruler's Authority, Soul Keeper, deactivated on its own.
With the deactivation, the oppressive aura dissipated entirely, allowing Anastasia and the others to finally breathe a sigh of relief.
The crushing weight on their souls lifted, leaving them visibly shaken but unharmed.
They were about to question Evan about what had occurred when their attention was drawn to a multicoloured orb that emerged from his body.
The orb hovered momentarily before drifting toward the illusionary white, soul-like figure that had been formed by the Conceptual Energy of the Soul.
Sylvan and the others froze in astonishment. The orb radiated unmistakable soul fluctuations, confirming it was, without a doubt, a soul.
The orb reached the white shell and seamlessly merged into it.
The moment the soul entered the shell, the previously lifeless figure began to emit genuine soul fluctuations. It even moved slightly, as though awakening to life.
The soul's fluctuations grew stronger with each passing moment.
Sylvan and Ashley's eyes lit up in recognition as they realized that the spiritual aura emanating from the figure was strikingly similar to Carla's.
As Evan observed the scene before him, vivid memories of what he had just experienced flashed through his mind.
Thinking about what he just experienced, his mouth went dry as an outlandish, almost impossible thought surfaced in his mind.
'This is f*cking impossible, right?' He thought, struggling to accept the sheer absurdity of the idea that had just struck him.
