Chapter 2060: The End Goal

Chapter 2060: The End Goal

The encirclement was completed.

The Star Foxes had successfully gone one full circle around Ress' territories and they were able to lure the demons around Ress before an opening at the southern tip of the barrier was available for them to go through.

Both No. 4 and 8 had also been briefed about the secret mission when they reported back that there were demonic presences at the southern borders of Ress. They had no idea what was in the minds of the higher ups or their king but they could only trust that what they were doing was the correct thing.

In theory, they should not need to worry about a single thing especially since no citizens of Ress had been hurt by this manoeuvre but they were ultimately humans and they still do care a tad bit more than other human beings could be killed by this act.

But at the same time, they worried a little too much considering how almost every single kingdom that shared borders with them was at the edge of Ress' Isolation borders.

What Jin had deduced had eventually become a truth.

The kingdoms did not like Ress a single bit and even though they stationed only lightly armoured troops in the area, No 4 and 8 had sufficient far sight powers to see that their kingdoms were still bringing in troops towards Ress.

In a way, Jin was not wrong to use the Demons to frighten them off. In fact, it could also be seen as something akin to a silver lining. As long as the Demons were not able to get any 'meat' from the isolation barriers, where would they go?

They would spread around and terrorise the bordering kingdoms but why would they need to do that when there are troops coming to reinforce the initial troops? That was when No. 4 and No. 8 realised that it was a brilliant yet terrifying idea by the King and the upper echelons of the military.

It was as if they were using the Demons as a sort of buffer to prevent the build up of troops around their place and if they came too close, they would become a buffet for the Demons.

But putting the Demons around the barrier was a double edge sword and the military intelligence believed that this would be a problem since it would also bring sufficient reason to concentrate their armies around Ress. It was only a sentence from Kraft that enabled them to stop thinking defeated thoughts.

"Have you guys forgotten how strong each and every Rifle Mage could be? Much more so if the Commando Mages joined in?" Kraft resisted the thought of saying out his Star Foxes since it was supposed to be the trump card of Ress Kingdom if things go too south. (Trust me, he was dying to say it out so blatantly that it took him a lot of effort to keep quiet about it.)

"Ah." No 4 who now also becomes part of the planning committee in the military division realised that the tactics most if not all of the surrounding kingdom armies used were standardised. They were packed like sardines to show order and discipline in their ranks. However, No. 4 and the rest of Ress's revamped military had been taught to never congregate together if possible.

"Our …strongest explosion shots can easily decimate most of their invading army, giving us time to run separately to each and every single kingdom's capital and destroy their remaining forces."

"Simple is it not? Unlike those demons, most will die in one hit. We will have the Rifle Mage Recruits to move in and kill the remaining people." Kraft smiled as he was satisfied with No. 4's answer but not Jin's.

"We will not be moving to their kingdom to destroy their remaining forces. I can open the isolation barriers momentarily for all of you to shoot from within and close the barrier. If they are able to bring a second wave of troops in, we will do the same again. Remember our focus is the Demons."

"Then we should lure the demons to their armies instead…" One of the military officials said and Jin nodded his head.

"You are not wrong at that aspect but we are preparing this contingency plan in case my future plan does not work or is not yet developed in time." Jin said. "When it comes down to that then this would be considered the alternative plan to safeguard Ress."

"What is your future plan then?" No.4 along with En Moy asked. Both were interested what their king had in plans if the armies were to be at his doorstep.

"What else? Teleport the demons right to the armies' face. That way, they can clear the enemies for us and we do not need to lift a single finger for it. Not to mention, we can also play hero and bring in our Rifle mages to eliminate dying armies." Jin said and the rest were a little confused why would he want to do such a roundabout matter.

Yet, there was one person smiling among all of them and that was our dear Devil.

"Because he wants to test how strong each and every single kingdom army could do when they encounter them head on. It was evil but necessary act to see what kind of level of power are the armies are in."

"This is ultimately in line with the future reason for partnership if we wished to eradicate the demons as a huge group. This will also once again reiterate the danger of fighting the demons and what they can do." Jin said and the rest of the ministers were starting to see the bigger picture.

"Remember. The end goal are not the demons. They are the warm up exercise. If we cannot even defeat them, we should consider moving into the starry skies and leave this planet to its final fate." Jin said so grimly that it didn't sound like a warning but more of a prophecy.
