Chapter 262: Names For You Three
Chapter 262: Names For You Three
Chapter 262: Names For You Three
The trio remained silent.
The girl then nodded. “They should be nameless, right? Those sold as servant girls are normally called Big Girl or Little Girl at home....”
You’re the Little Girl!
Looking at Ling Wuxia’s eyes that were about to pop out soon, Zhou Ruying felt like she was about to be breathless from trying to hold back her laughter.
Even though they weren’t in a good situation, seeing Ling Wuxia’s face brought joy to the sorrow.
“Then let me name them?” The younger girl jumped up excitedly.
“Of course!” The teenage girl nodded, smiling at her.
The little girl jumped onto a chair and stood in front of the three. She pouted while pondering hard for names. “You shall be called Xiao Hua, which means Little Flower!” (Note: a name for dogs.)
Pff! Seeing Ling Wuxia’s green face, Zhou Ruying could no longer contain her laughter.
“Why are you laughing? Is the name that I chose not a nice one?”
“No, it’s a nice one.” Zhou Ruying kept her laughter and looked at the girl seriously. “The name Miss gave is perfect.”
The girl jumped up happily. “You called me Young Miss?”
Zhou Ruying nodded. “You are the masters, so I should call you Young Miss.” She then turned to the teenage guy and girl. “This is Young Master, and this is Elder Miss.”
The teenage girl and guy were not old either. Being called as such, they smiled happily too.
“You really know how to talk. Then, I’ll leave you the nicest name.” The little girl clapped her hands. “You’ll be Xiao Yu, which means Little Rain.”
Zhou Ruying continued her act. “Thank you for the name, Young Miss.” Xiao Yu is better than Xiao Hua, I guess?
“And you.” The girl pointed at Lu Mingshu. “Xiao Yue, which means Little Moon.”
These three servant girls – Xiao Hua, Xiao Yu, and Xiao Yue – were now like bread fresh out of the oven.
Lu Mingshu had a poker face. Xiao Yue is better than Xiao Hua, I guess?
The guy then asked another question. “What’s your age? You’ll start.” He pointed at Ling Wuxia.
“Twenty-four.”
The guy sighed. “Too old.” He then leaned closer. “Are you sure? You don’t look anywhere near twenty-four.”
Of course. The higher one’s cultivation, the younger they look. I’m already in the Harmonization Realm, so why wouldn’t I look younger than I am?
But obviously, Ling Wuxia would not say that out loud.
The guy then pointed at Lu Mingshu. “What about you?”
“Sixteen.”
The guy nodded, looking satisfied. “Just right.”
“You?” He looked at Zhou Ruying.
“Thirty.”
The teenage girl facepalmed. “Don’t joke around. How could you be thirty? You must be around the early twenties, right?”
“Elder Miss, I’m really thirty.”
The guy coughed and sighed. “Okay, thirty it is then. Even though we bought you, starting from now on, you three will be disciples of the Tranquil Void Monastery. Is that clear?”
What the heck? Weren’t we bought to be servant girls?
“Take this Secret of Refining Vital Energy and learn it. You must be able to sense energy within a month, do you understand?” The guy took out a thick book and passed it to them.
“...” This is really unexpected!
“Senior Brother, they do not know how to read,” the teenage girl reminded him.
“Oh, right.” The guy furrowed his eyebrows. “But I don’t have the time to teach them!”
“Leave it to me!” Once again, the little girl volunteered. “Senior Brother, please be at ease. I’ll contribute to our Tranquil Void Monastery!”
“Okay, I’ll leave it to Yan’er then.”
...
After a day of confusion, they were given a small room in the back.
This Tranquil Void Monastery wasn’t small, but it was worn-out. This was probably the first time Ling Wuxia had ever experienced such a thing. Even their blankets had holes in them.
The three slept on a shabby mattress. Ling Wuxia and Lu Mingshu were on the sides, and Zhou Ruying was in the middle.
To save money, the lights were out at an early time.
Lu Mingshu suddenly heard something by her ears. She opened her eyes and grabbed a hand that was reaching for her under the blankets. “What do you want?”
Another hand was immediately raised up.
Lu Mingshu raised her legs too. She rolled down the bed and started fighting in the darkness.
Zhou Ruying sat up and yawned. “Please, what’s the point in fighting without mystic force?”
Both paused and stopped.
Indeed, without mystic force, there was no point in fighting. In the past, they would’ve torn this house down when they attacked, but now, it was just two people exercising in the middle of the night.
“Ah, enough!” Zhou Ruying rubbed her face. “Just put your hatred aside for now, please. You two, what situation are we in right now?”
Ling Wuxia huffed and laid back down.
“I say, Miss Ling, you’re not so bad with such an attitude. Why do you put on a mask and pretend to be some else? Isn’t it heavy?”
“None of your business,” Ling Wuxia replied coldly after a few moments.
“Leave her alone if she wants to do it,” Lu Mingshu said in a monotone. “Just stop touching me at night. I thought you were a pervert for a second.”
“...”
Figuring Ling Wuxia was fuming with anger, Zhou Ruying laughed and tried to ease the tension. “Whatever, we all want to go back. Let’s talk about it when we get back, huh?”
After a while, she could hear Ling Wuxia sulking. “Tell Lu Mingshu to take out the mirror.”
“I grabbed it first, why should I give it to you?”
“Who knows what you will do to it?”
“This is how you beg people, huh? It’s with me now, and you have no rights to it.” Lu Mingshu sneered.
Lu Mingshu could hear a familiar noise coming from Ling Wuxia’s side. After a few seconds, Ling Wuxia said, “I can’t open my mustard seed pouch right now, but I can promise you that I’ll pay you what you deserve.”
“I don’t need money.” Lu Mingshu rolled her eyes.
Yes, she was poor at the moment, but only because she spent everything on upgrading her abilities. If she really wanted to, there were plenty of ways for her to earn money in the Heavenly Wheel.
Ling Wuxia snickered. “So much for talking nicely.”
Zhou Ruying wiggled her eyebrows. “You could get on your knees and beg.”
“You-!”
“Just kidding!” Seeing that Ling Wuxia was about to blow her top, Zhou Ruying laughed. “No worries, if the mirror still worked, Lu Mingshu would have left already. Why would she stay here with us?”
Ling Wuxia stared at Lu Mingshu, not buying it.
“Am I right?” Zhou Ruying nudged Lu Mingshu.
“Yes,” Lu Mingshu answered unwillingly. “I looked at it as soon as we arrived. There’s no response. I guess it has used up all its energy.”
“Energy? How do we recover it?” Ling Wuxia asked immediately.
“How would I know?”
“You might as well have said nothing.” Ling Wuxia sneered.
“Then you tell me what to do!” Lu Mingshu retorted.
“...”
“Just shut the hell up, guys!” Zhou Ruying felt her head throbbing. “Let’s not talk about that. Did you realize that this world is quite weird?”
Of course, Lu Mingshu realized that. She even came here to train in the past, but only in deserted areas, not the cities.
“Have you both read that book? Without mystic force, it’ll be hard to survive in this world. Maybe our chance lies there....”
