Chapter 263: Free Gift

Lu Mingshu was astonished by what Zhou Ruying said and looked over at her in the dark.

She had thought of this too, but she didn’t realize that Zhou Ruying would too. Thus, she was astonished.

She had been searching for the reason she couldn’t open her mustard seed pouch. Her mystic force was gone all of a sudden, and she couldn’t even connect to the Heavenly Wheel in this world.

Lu Mingshu had been to a truth-seeking world before when she was younger. The Heavenly Wheel brought her there when she was a newbie. However, for some reason, her mystic force was gone this time around.

She had read a lot of books and guessed that this world might be suppressed by rules and regulations.

There were different regulations in different worlds. This was known as the Heavenly Dao.

And to be honest, she hadn’t really been to another world before; she only went through the Heavenly Wheel with her spirit, and there was a difference between that and going with one’s real body.

After seeing the book given by the guy today, she thought of the same idea as Zhou Ruying.

Mystic force cultivated in one world was probably unable to be used in a different world. So, why not use the method of cultivating native to this world to get her mystic force back?

Actually, energy in every world was the same. Mystic force, spiritual force, elementary force, and even magic – it was all the same. It was only because of their specific skills and ways of training that caused the energies to differ.

For example, mystic force was intrinsically powerful while spiritual force emphasized improving the user’s power.

“You mean... learn to cultivate from that book?” Ling Wuxia asked.

“Yeah,” Zhou Ruying said. “It’s not that difficult, right? I read through the book, and it’s kind of similar to our cultivation.”

“Right.” Ling Wuxia nodded.

“Before we go back, let’s work together properly, shall we? We don’t actually have any beef between each other, right?”

Honestly, there wasn’t much conflict between them. It was just Ling Wuxia trying to stay above Lu Mingshu, and Lu Mingshu had embarrassed Ling Wuxia a couple of times.

Ultimately, it wasn’t any great hatred. In their current situation, it was simple enough to team up.

Lu Mingshu didn’t feel like she suffered any losses, while Ling Wuxia had great patience.

Tolerate!

They put aside their differences and promised to team up.

“Are you going to sleep?” Zhou Ruying looked over to Ling Wuxia, who was sitting at the edge of the bed. “I’m pretty tired without mystic force.”

Ling Wuxia nodded. “Yeah.”

The trio laid down, and Lu Mingshu snickered.

She knew the main reason Ling Wuxia was going after her; she had acquired all three of the items.

Because Zhou Ruying failed her mission, she was more worried about going back to the Zhou Family, not the three items. But it was different for Ling Wuxia; if she could not bring even a single thing back, that would be a terrible failure.

However, Lu Mingshu wouldn’t take anything out. No matter what tricks I used, I got it all, so why should I give it away?

...

This city was called Volt Wing City, and this Tranquil Void Monastery was, somehow, a gang.

There were many gangs in Volt Wing City, and they were all under the government’s control.

“Every three years, the government will perform an inspection. Only gangs with five members or more will be recognized. If we aren’t recognized, all our property will be confiscated.” The little girl Yan’er rambled on. “So, you all should work hard! They are going to perform inspections next month.”

“...”

The trio sitting on the floor nodded at the same time. So, that’s why they had to buy us. This gang is too poor, so nobody wants to join, and they were so broke that they could only afford the cheapest slaves.

Such a poor “gang.”

Not mentioning Ling Wuxia, who was from a big sect, even Lu Mingshu and Zhou Ruying pitied their current state.

“Second Miss,” Lu Mingshu asked, “may I know what the gang leader’s cultivation is?”

“Senior Brother? The fifth level!” Yan’er said proudly.

“...”

Even though none of them knew what the fifth level meant specifically, but it was basically the Inner Breath Realm. An Inner Breath Realm gang leader...

Talking about what these guys had been through, it wasn’t easy for them either. They once had a master and another senior brother. However, their master just died not long ago, and their senior brother died in a fight when he went out to travel.

Thus, the small and worn-out monastery only left behind these three youths to depend on each other for life, and they were about to close down due to having insufficient members. Thus, they had to buy people.

“Do you guys understand? It’s not easy to get a sense of energy in a month!”

“...understood,” the trio answered, uninterested.

In fact, Yan’er only taught them how to read it twice, and her explanations were rather haphazard. If Lu Mingshu and company were actually uneducated servant girls, the trio would surely understand nothing.

Yan’er was still young, and she didn’t really understand it yet. She genuinely thought that she had taught them well, and she commanded them to start training.

The trio each took a corner to practice.

During dinner time, the gang leader – Xiang Zichen – stared at them weirdly. “You guys... can sense energy already...?”

“...”

Obviously. Was it even possible for them to not be fast? Three Harmonization Realms who already had great basics couldn’t be fast? It only took them one hour to get the breathing technique right.

The teenage girl, Xiang Zimei, looked at them in shock. “Are you sure? They look like they have no potential!” Did we get three geniuses for free?

Lu Mingshu rolled her eyes internally. You’re a newbie yourself, yet you’re saying that we have no potential? It’s only due to the Heavenly Dao that we seem to have no potential.

“Master was right! Without testing, we won’t know how good someone can be.” Xiang Zichen accepted this shocking news quickly. “We really found some treasures!”

“Yes, Senior Brother!” Xiang Zimei squealed. “The monastery is now preserved. We didn’t let Old Master down....”

Suddenly, they could hear knocking at the door. “Junior Nephew, open the door!”

Xiang Zichen face turned pale. “Oh no, Senior Uncle is here!”

“Oh my god! What do we do?” Xiang Zimei jumped up and started pacing back and forth.

Yan’er scooped up everything that was on the table and slid them under the table. “Senior Sister, hide them! If not, Senior Uncle will take them with him!”

“Ah, yes, yes!” Xiang Zimei remembered what she was supposed to do and started hiding things.

Like cats on hot bricks, the three of them were now running around.

The Lu Mingshu trio looked at them weirdly. It’s just a Senior Uncle, is there a need for all this drama?

“Junior Nephew, open up!”

“Coming!” After tidying up, Xiang Zichen went to open the door.

Suddenly, he was blocked by Zhou Ruying. “It’s just a small task, Gang Leader need not do it himself.” She flashed him a big smile.
