Chapter 114: Leaving the academy
Haunted House, Terrance came here alone this day, intending to retrieve Misdreavus.
Misdreavus didn’t disappoint Terrance with its “excellent illusion talent.” In just one year, it successfully squeezed into the ranks of the “Illusion Masters” in the haunted house, making it the youngest among these illusion masters.
However, Misdreavus still had great room for improvement. Terrance plans to use a “Dusk Stone” in the near future to facilitate Misdreavus’ evolution.
Over this past year, abundant food, nutritional supplements and a constant supply of “fear” have greatly nourished Misdreavus. It has accumulated a powerful foundation for evolution. After all, in the haunted house, it is considered the leader of a group of Ghost-type Pokémon. One should not underestimate this mischievous little fellow.
Terrance only hopes that its personality can be more restrained after evolution…
Beautifly was currently in the Tower of Despair, which unlike the Tower of Confusion, is a powerful facility specifically set up for Battle Class students in the academy.
Inside the tower, there are powerful Pokémon from students, teachers and other backgrounds.
Based on their achievements, each level of the tower has Pokémon with outstanding strength guarding it. The battles are one-on-one, and they are an important way for students to earn credits by challenging and progressing through the tower.
Recently, Terrance’s Beautifly successfully secured a position as a guardian of the tower. Occasionally, it interacts with the powerful Pokémon inside. When Terrance underwent a change, the Pokémon in his team began to pursue “coordinated battles,” and their strength increased significantly!
Terrance’s battle awareness was already good, and after more than a year of training, he now exudes a unique aura.
But Swablu, who has always been by Terrance’s side, has become a source of concern for Terrance. The development of its “Annihilation” secret technique has been going on, and now, Swablu has not only mastered “Mirror Move” but has also gained insights into the characteristics of Pokémon like “Jigglypuff,” “Exploud,” “Noivern,” and others skilled in using sound-based moves. This has deepened Swablu’s understanding of its own voice. [There is a little change in chapter 72 where I made a mistake in translating the secret technique’s name.]
However, even after two years of hard work, Swablu has been unable to successfully comprehend the “Annihilation” secret technique. Instead, every attempt to find the resonant frequency leaves Swablu depressed.
Terrance estimates that this situation may improve after Swablu evolves, but not only Swablu, Terrance wouldn’t allow any of them to evolve early, including Misdreavus.
They have certainly already accumulated enough foundation for evolution, and if they wish to evolve, they would have already evolved.
But the thing is that it has only been two years since Swablu was born, and Terrance is not comfortable letting it evolve too early. He wants it to become more familiar with its moves, growing to an appropriate level before making a breakthrough, and align its development as closely as possible with natural growth.
Throughout this year, Terrance has been deeply satisfied with the efforts and progress of Beautifly, Swablu, and Misdreavus.
If it were any other trainer with two years of experience, they might have already assembled two teams or even have the achievement of challenging the League Conference. However, Terrance remains unfazed.
Even though he currently only has four Pokémon, each one has undergone rigorous training in aspects such as stamina, reflexes, attack, defense, coordination, and more. With high-level food and nutritional supplements and with Terrance, a Breeder, personally accompanying their training, he doesn’t believe he is inferior to others.
As for the last place… thinking about tossing that little fellow there yesterday, Terrance couldn’t help but chuckle bitterly.
Gravity Room, a place Terrance is very familiar with due to frequent training sessions with Teacher Julian. For physical and stamina training, this place is a natural training ground. The gravity room, manipulated by Probopass, provides a perfect special training environment.
“I’ve come to get you…”
Terrance glanced over sneakily and saw a flickering orange figure. Suddenly, his expression changed, and instinctively, he moved to dodge. However, the opponent’s speed was too fast; it crashed directly into Terrance’s arms, leaving him rolling his eyes.
“Stop… stop, your Trainer is dying.”
Holding his stomach in pain, tears streaming down, Terrance looked at the little fellow in front of him, unsure of how to evaluate the situation. Was it too energetic or just too fond of its Trainer?
The Fire-type Pokémon egg that was rewarded by the police, Terrance carefully nurtured it, and the result was this little fellow – a Growlithe, the first form of Arcanine.
Growlithe has a peculiar habit: it loves to run. Almost from the moment it could move, it never allowed itself to be idle, spending the entire day running around. But what frustrated Terrance the most was not this, but Growlithe’s attitude towards him…
Growlithe has a keen sense of smell. Once it has smelled a scent, it will never forget it under any circumstances. It is even more familiar with the Trainer who has been with it since hatching. No matter what, it will always give Terrance an affectionate “slam”!!
In a more affectionate sense, one could say it pounced into Terrance’s arms, though Terrance occasionally finds it a bit much to handle.
Knowing the little fellow’s personality, Terrance thought of a way to handle it… by tossing it into the “Gravity Room” and letting it run until exhausted. However, Terrance soon realized that his thinking was a bit too naive.
Although it was very effective at first, subsequently, Growlithe gradually adapted to the gravity, and its speed saw a rapid improvement. In the end, it even treated the “Gravity Room” as a regular training ground. Over time, even Terrance felt a bit distressed about his own credits, often looking at Growlithe with a hint of bitterness.
However…what awaited him was always an affectionate pounce attack.
“I’m a bit afraid to give you a Fire Stone for evolution now…” Terrance sighed. It’s better to let Growlithe grow for a while longer. After evolving into Arcanine, if this habit persists, he might die.
“Let’s go!!” Retrieving his four Pokémon, Terrance looked towards the direction of Kanto. For Ralts’ condition, he had researched a lot, but in the end, he had no choice but to contact Master Victor, who was conducting investigations far away in the Alola and Sinnoh Region, halfway across the world. After thorough analysis, they found a reliable method. However, this method required Terrance to make a trip to Kanto.
“Time to bid farewell to friends.” Terrance was getting ready to take a long leave, primarily for Ralts’ sake and also for personal reasons. Without exaggeration, in the two years at the academy, Terrance hadn’t slacked off even a bit, squeezing himself to the maximum. He was very satisfied with his results, and Terrance was not planning to stay here any longer.
In the two years, Teacher Julian, Teacher Teresa, Teacher Issac, Teacher Forrest, and fellow students like Akon, all provided Terrance with varying degrees of help.
Student Battle Zone, Tower of Confusion, Tower of Despair…..and other facilities where he could earn credits, Terrance had challenged them all. Although he had not yet reached the top of some of them, he decided to leave that for the future if there was a chance. Gradually accumulating credits, Terrance exchanged them for various supplies, anonymously sending them back to the Old Green House. Having been away for two years, he had no idea how the Old Green House had changed. The few items he sent might not have helped much, but at least they could have improved the children’s daily lives a bit.
However… Terrance’s departure this time is to completely resolve the matter of the Old Green House and work hard to find a solution. After two years of accumulation, he couldn’t delay any longer!
