Chapter 399: 'Master' Opponent
Chapter 399: 'Master' Opponent
Chapter 399: ‘Master’ Opponent
Shane explained a few things a little bit more in detail, without sharing anything important.
It was a well-known fact that Miriam was the Starlight guild’s guildmaster while the Boreas mercenaries were also in his guild.
As such, Shane simply mentioned it, and the fact that he had other means to sneakily attack a shelter without them noticing.
In the end, there was no counterargument the other authorities of the government could come up with to oppose Shane’s attempt to build a perfect foundation.
They had accepted even more dangerous missions from other prodigies after all and the final rewards were not as enticing as Shane’s.
It was a perfect mana purification manual that led to the perfect foundation Shane was trying ceaselessly built up until now!
Thus, everyone accepted the proposal Shane made while saying that he should give his best to prevent the attacked shelters from finding out that the human race was behind them.
In the worst case, the casualties should be stored inside the spatial ring, if possible.
Shane found that a small part of the government was trying too hard to oppose him from fulfilling his system mission despite the numerous offers he made.
In the end, Shane knew why they were doing this, and it was pretty simple too.
He was John Stella’s son and had already become the strongest human of the new generation.
Some were displeased at how John Stella led mankind, which was the reason for the higher-ups to give their best to prevent Shane from turning into the second John Stella, following in his father’s footsteps.
Nevertheless, there was nothing the higher-ups could do.
The only issue left was that the attacked races could find out that the human race was the culprit, but if Shane were to attack the Miac alliance, this was not even problematic.
They were already at war with most of those races owing to the radiant mountain ring alliance either way.
Thus, it wouldn’t change too much.
However, what had astonished everyone was that John Stella, mankind’s leader, hadn’t said a word to support his son.
Neither had he said anything nor did it look like John had been bothered about his mission.
John Stella wanted his son to become strong, and if he were to help every single time, this would be useless.
As such, Shane was ought to take care of his matters on his own.
He had never truly experienced childhood, and John knew that he had to give him more freedom to do whatever he pleased.
Compared to years ago, John had noticed that giving Shane freedom made him much stronger than holding him down could.
It had been a terrible mistake to imprison his son in the four walls of the mansion, and he had yet to find a way to repent the way he had treated his son.
Meanwhile, Shane was glad that everything was finally done, and he had wanted to prepare everything for the conquest as soon as possible.
His time was running out, and his mind began working furiously before he noticed that the young man opposite him raised his hand.
The young man was still glaring at him, but Shane could suddenly see a glint of wrath in his eyes.
This was astonishing, yet, it didn’t really affect Shane because he was accustomed to such gazes.
Because of that, he wanted to leave, only to hear the young man speak,
“I think Shane could show everyone how strong he is. Through that, my father, grandfather and everyone else who was opposing this mission will understand and willingly accept his proposal without further arguments!”
These words were unexpected, but at the same time, it was something Shane should have expected.
He was already on his feet, and when his eyes locked with the young man opposite him, Shane couldn’t help but sigh.
“In order to see whether I’m strong enough to face the [Mythic], you want to offer yourself as a sparring partner, or am I interpreting this whole charade wrong?”
It was obvious what the young man wanted to achieve.
He was jealous of his talent, mana purity, and the possibility of him attaining a perfect foundation which caused him to ignore anything else in the attempt to embarrass and humiliate Shane in front of his family!
However, Shane couldn’t help but think that this was nothing but a charade because he assumed that his father and grandfather had told the young man to stir drama if things didn’t go as per their expectations.
At that moment, John Stella said something for the first time, and it was something nobody expected.
“You’ve just liquefied your first drops of mana, with a mana purity of around [80%], right?”
The young man was flabbergasted that John Stella was suddenly speaking to him, and he just meekly nodded his head while answering,
“I broke through three weeks ago and I’ve gathered enough mana to liquefy my second drop of mana!”
The young man was proud of his achievement but was simply ignored by John Stella, whose eyes flicked to his son for a moment.
When Shane heard that the young man in front of him had liquefied his mana with a purity of [80%] he could barely avoid laughing out loud.
Every Starlight guild member was likely to end up with a mana purity of [85%] at the bare minimum!
As such, Shane couldn’t help but feel that the young man in front of him was nothing but a proud pushover.
“Let’s spar then!”
There was no need for him to be afraid of fighting the young man, named Cedric because a mana purity of [80%] was simply useless to liquefy!
Liquefying the first drop of mana with a purity of [80%] increased one’s overall strength by around 80%, while the liquefaction of the first mana drop with a mana purity of [85%] was already an increment of 100%!
Unfortunately, even that was not enough to face someone with a perfect physique and a mana purity of [97%] including a soul bound world, a blessing, and Shane’s innate talent.
Thus, he could only laugh inwardly as they went towards the lower floors where a simple training ground was constructed.
Apparently, nobody was astonished about the sudden turn of events from rejecting Shane’s mission to him being forced to fight against someone at the Master stage!
Standing inside the combat ring opposite Cedric, Shane could only shake his head as the fight already began.
He hadn’t even manifested the Invincible Scimitar yet, and using it would have been somewhat of an overkill either way.
The [Warrior’s Heart] passive skill didn’t even activate itself as Cedric rushed towards him with a seemingly terrific speed.
He brandished his sword, but Shane felt like he was looking at the weakest opponents he had fought in the Primordial tournament as he subconsciously blurted out.
“To think that the Expert stage’s elite is barely stronger than pushovers at the Master stage…it seems logical to be honest!”
After he had blurted out his thoughts, Shane just vanished into thin air. He was wearing the Mask of the Cursed Susurro because he had wanted to test Cosmo’s [Space Jump] ability in a real fight.
Thus, he appeared behind Cedric a moment after he had disappeared, only to release a terrifically high amount of mana in addition to his bloodlust-killing-intent that enveloped Shane tightly.
Shane’s physical strength was already at the highest possible level of the basic primordial dimensions, but even his family couldn’t help but be astonished at Shane’s prowess and lightning-fast reflexes.
Shane had disappeared a moment after Cedric had brandished his broadsword, only to appear behind him and erupt with his strength at once.
His entire demeanor changed, and Cedric’s father and grandfather were just about to instinctively intervene as they sensed that their son was seemingly on the brink of death as John stopped them.
Not having expected that the fight would be concluded so easily, Shane realized that a higher mana purity and perfect physique, in addition to several other enhancing factors, were even stronger than he had expected.
Even though he was not sure how he would fare against a real prodigy who had been forced to liquefy his mana early, Cedric was nothing but a mere toy Shane could play with however he liked to.
Unfortunately, he saw out of the corner of his eye how his aunts and uncles shook their heads, indicating that he was being a show-off.
As such, Shane didn’t even hit Cedric.
Instead, he stretched out his foot making the young man trip, only to grasp him by his neck.
Despite having been indicated that he shouldn’t go over the top, Shane couldn’t miss out on humiliating the young man, and, in turn, his family.
Cedric and his family had wasted his time after all!
