Chapter 440: Preps

Only a few hours passed before Shane had reached a fairly close range of his mission’s destination.

Without reaching too close and attracting unnecessary attention, he had already noticed many changes that had occurred with time.

The closer he came to the given coordinates, the more dangerous the surroundings became, but Shane had yet to be attacked.

From the looks of it, the maritime beasts in the surrounding area had noticed that he was too strong for them to meddle and waste their energy.

As such, they avoided him.

This was not uncommon, and in fact, proved to be quite helpful for Shane, who didn’t want to waste anymore time.

When he was a few kilometers away from his final destination, he circulated mana through his wetsuit and into his boots, activating several effects they had.

As for the wetsuit, Shane bought it especially because of the mana concealment it had, while the shoes were, in fact, extendable flippers.

Both could be activated with mana which he did before storing away the sea dragon boat.

Diving into the water, Shane didn’t feel anything but a slight heat radiating from his wetsuit whose temperature regulation ability was subconsciously activated.

Every little effect of his equipment was activated by a single rune or a complex of runes.

As such, Shane would have to pay attention to his wetsuit, otherwise, even a small cut might turn unlucky enough to get the runes on his equipment damaged.

However, this was something he should pay attention to in case an emergency occurs and not the entire time he was underwater.

Instead, he should swim towards the direction of the coordinates he had been given.

With his mana fluctuations concealed, more and more maritime beasts began nearing him, and some were even trying to attack him.

It was only then that Shane truly realised the difficulties of fighting inside the water.

Beasts at the Wild and Elite stage noticed that he was nobody to play around, solely from the pressure he radiated.

Because of that, only awakened beasts attacked him, and their speed was extremely fast inside the water.

At least, compared with Shane’s as he could barely adjust himself to fight inside the water.

Using the Invincible Scimitar inside the water was also extremely difficult and almost impossible to properly use.

As such, Shane would rather use his affinities combined with his bare fists.

Once he was close enough to a beast to touch them, a single touch infused with the sudden release of darkness mana or pointy vines and roots shooting out of his hand was enough to deliver a lethal blow.

This was the simplest means for him to kill maritime beasts, but their size was ten times larger than beasts that lived on the ground.

He had already thought that Levi was large, but despite being a Leviathan, and a beast that would normally belong to the Main primordial dimensions, she could be said to be a smaller maritime beast.

Despite the encounters he had, Shane reached the gigantic entrance to an underwater cave, which caused him to frown.

Not only it seem that the cave was his final destination, but Shane assumed that it was the breeding ground of the King serpents.

This was extremely annoying and he would have sighed if it was possible to do so without issues.

Complaining inwardly, Shane tried to think of a slightly different plan to the one he had in mind only a few minutes ago.

His earlier plan was to use his soulbonds to take one egg of the king serpents and that he would distract and manage the crowd of king serpents until 10 minutes were over.

After that, he would simply disappear by using his spatial affinity tens of times before using the sea dragon boat as well as the space door in the worst-case scenario!

This plan had to be altered drastically, and instead of following the prior steps, Shane used his mind and affinities to the fullest.

He wanted to use the surprise factor as his advantage, but instead of charging into the underwater cave mindlessly, he carefully constructed the plan in his head.

Several hours passed while Shane worked around the cavern entrance.

Because he didn’t want to attract the attention of other beasts, let alone the king serpents, he could only release faint traces of mana in order to activate his affinities.

This was also why it took him so long to get all the preparations for his plan done.

However, there was also the issue that the more time passed, the more ideas and plans manifested in his mind.

Right now, he still had the system to exploit, and Shane didn’t want to waste more time than necessary inside the clear abyss ocean dimension.

As such, he bought a bunch of items to use later.

Now that everything was prepared and in place, Shane was ready to depart.

He had already used his [Eagle Eyes](passive) ability, only to insert more mana into his eyes, allowing him to see further ahead.

The cave was dark, but Shane was able to see everything as he was still wearing the Mask of the Cursed Susurro.

After he had found the first few several dozen meters long King serpents that kept looking at their eggs fondly, Shane smiled lightly.

It was not long after that he did several things at once.

The first thing he did was to use more than 50 [Lightning orbs] that had a [Configuration] ability in order to create an explosion of dense lightning currents that would set off in exactly half a minute.

During this half a minute, Shane could easily use the [Space Jump] ability to get full control over his spatial affinity which he made use of to teleport himself right in front of the bunch of eggs that laid in a small niche.

Grasping one, he noticed that the countdown of his mission had started.

Yet, instead of paying attention to this, he teleported himself back to the underwater cavern entrance.

At that moment, he took out a device with a red button on it that released a vast amount of mana, worth several times the amount Shane could store under normal means.

With this mana, he activated his wood and nature affinity at the same time, controlling the roots and vines he had set up all around the cavern entrance.

Shooting out of the rocks all around Shane, they were rapidly connecting to each other, only for him to press the red button while transferring more mana from the Hidden Paradise’s storage into his body.

While the roots and vines were spreading out in all directions, sealing the cavern entrance, dozens of high mana frequency bombs exploded, causing little damage to the cavern entrance.

However, this was not what Shane had planned, to begin with, because the high frequency should forcefully send the King serpents to lose their senses for a second.

Shane was not unaffected by the high-frequency bombs, but he was still able to summon Umbra, and Viridy out of his soul world.

While Umbra was ready to slither through the deep water, Viridy was utterly dumbfounded as the egg of a king serpent was pushed into its root and vine arms.

Looking at the system, Shane figured out that the countdown was still running, even though Viridy was in possession of the King serpent’s egg.

This was great, and exactly as he had planned.

As such, Shane could send off Viridy, telling it to hold tightly on Umbra, who swam away at a fast pace. Meanwhile, he would only have to wait for the lightning orbs to activate, which should happen at any moment.

‘3..2…1…now!”
